  • Fun, suspenseful easy read for cliffhanger types.
Format: Audiobook
Pretty good book that's good enough to call a cliffhanger. You'll never guess it's the.....just kidding. You'll have to read it yourself. I found the narration very clear and made the listen more compelling. Overall I find books by this author to be a bit too simular but you might be able to attribute that to her style of working. On several books I've read from this author, this one is toward the top in rankings to me. I think if you like suspense novels, you'll find this to be a good read. ... show more

  • Nice and accurate depiction of someone with ASD and nice and good twists.
Format: Kindle
I'm going to be honest. I love Frieda McFadden books. Even my least favorite of her books I will give a good review just because of the ease of reading them. They are what I consider "easy reads" in that I find them easy to get into. There is just something about the way she writes that keeps you interested enough till you get into the twists. It's like watching a movie that has something at the beginning that grabs you right away and gets you interested enough to see where it goes. I had read other reviews that said they were annoyed by the turtles and talk of turtles. Honestly...I found it a perfect depiction of a person on the spectrum. My son is on the spectrum. He is high functioning and most don't realize it until he stems or starts doing some of the very things that Dawn does in the book. He gets stuck on certain things. Dawn seems obsessed with turtles. My son would get stuck on something but then would move on after a while to something else...but he struggled making friends because of his quirkiness and his inability to stray from his black and white style of thinking. So in saying all of this...I found it spot on. I felt like there were enough twists and even tho I know to never make snap judgements in her stories....I still found myself saying "OMG" at some of the revelations. I had figured out some of it by the end...but there were some things that still surprised me. I took off one star only because I did figure part of it out and I only give 5 stars for my absolute favorite books. BUT, it is definitely worth reading! I read it in one day, in my spare time at work, lunch time, doctor's office and then finished up after dinner before bedtime. It's definitely one that you can finish in one go if you have a lazy day where you can just read! ... show more

  • Decent Distraction, Just Don’t Expect a Wow Factor
Format: Paperback
3.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ This one started off a bit slow for me, and it took some time to really get into the story. The buildup felt a little repetitive at first, and I wasn’t immediately pulled in. However, once the plot started to move, it did pick up a decent pace and became easier to stay engaged. Overall, it wasn’t the most gripping or intense thriller I’ve read, and it didn’t have that “can’t stop listening” feeling that some of Freida McFadden’s other books have. That said, it was still entertaining enough to keep me going, especially once things started unfolding. The twists were there, but they didn’t hit as hard or feel as surprising as I expected. I listened to this as an audiobook, and I have to say the narrator did a really good job bringing the characters to life. Unfortunately, I’ve been noticing a pattern with the production quality in some of this author’s audiobooks. While the narration itself was strong, the overall editing felt a bit off. Some transitions didn’t blend smoothly, and it made the experience feel less polished compared to other well-produced audiobooks. It didn’t ruin the experience, but it was noticeable. The characters were interesting enough, though not particularly memorable, and the story felt more like a quick, easy listen rather than something that really sticks with you afterward. It’s the kind of book that keeps you mildly curious about what’s going to happen next, but without a strong emotional or suspenseful payoff. Definitely not one of Freida McFadden’s strongest works, but still a decent distraction when you’re in the mood for something light, easy, and relatively entertaining without expecting too much depth. ... show more

  • Such a good read!
Format: Paperback
The Coworker by Freida McFadden is a fast, twisty psychological thriller that turns ordinary office drama into something dark and unsettling. When a socially awkward employee disappears, suspicion falls on her polished, well-liked coworker, and the story unravels through secrets, lies, and shifting perspectives that keep you guessing. It’s an easy, bingeable read with short chapters and steady tension, though the characters are deeply flawed and the twists lean more “dramatic fun” than fully realistic. If you like messy people, workplace intrigue, and jaw-drop moments over literary depth, this one delivers a solid popcorn-thriller ride. ... show more

  • The Coworker
Format: Kindle
This book was good, but it wasn’t my favorite. I think that there could’ve been a big twist ending than what it was, but it was an easy read with all the emails as dialogue!

  • Quick to Read and Engaging Book
Format: Paperback
This book kept me engaged from the first chapter. One thing I can't stand is opening a book and it takes too long to setup the characters and introduce the main plot of the story. This is the 5th McFadden book for me to finish and so far, they all get and hold my attention early on. That's a plus for me. It's an easy quick read like most McFadden books. I'm not one of those readers that does a long synopsis of the book buuuut I would recommend this read. And while I can figure out plot twists as or before they happen, this had one I didn't see coming. That's a huge plus, too. The chapters are short which aligns with my reading style because then I feel like I am getting through the book quickly and I can measure how much I have left by what chapter I am reading. Buy it. Read it. You're welcome. ... show more
