Ice maker arrived even earlier than expected. I should say, my deciding factor in purchasing was after reading the review of someone who had purchased several different brands prior- and found this brand superior. Reviewed the instructions after unpacking the box. (VERY simple instructions) As advertised, made ice very quickly. (8 minutes for first batch) Not noisy at all! I use bottled spring water, as I prefer the taste. (Takes about a half-gallon to fill the machine) I tend to read reviews before purchasing online, as they often warn of poor quality/design. I can honestly say that I’ve seen NONE of the issues that other customers complained about while I checked reviews on various makes/models of countertop ice makers with this brand! (Noise, ice not freezing thoroughly, poor quality/cheaply made etc.) If you’re on the fence about investing $100+ in a countertop ice maker... rest assured... this IS a solid machine that does what it’s meant to do. I seriously searched through dozens of the most reasonably priced ice makers and the thousands of reviews that came with them. After this crazy deep dive into the world of ice makers I realized that all of them were pretty much the exact same with the same positives and negatives in the reviews so I decided to narrow my search I would be picky about color. I've always loved red in the kitchen (both my tea kettle & mini fridge are red) so I landed on this Deco Gear. I normally don't like purchasing something with a low amount of reviews but I took a gamble and I'm glad I did! This ice maker is perfect for my needs and if I have a friend over it can easily supply us with ice for both our drinks without running out. Now for a party yes you would definitely need to run it the night before and bag the ice as while it does make ice fairly quickly its not enough to keep up with a party. The ice size choices are good and the ice tastes crisp and amazing with no weird plastic-y taste (note: I always use filtered water from my Brita pitcher). I know the instructions say unplug when not in use but I leave mine plugged in when I turn it off at night and when I went on my last work trip I accidentally forgot to unplug it and everything was working just fine when I got home a week later.. but it is plugged into a surge protected outlet. If not using every day I would suggest simply wiping it out with a dry cloth after draining the water. I do this before I leave for my work trips and there is never mold growth or a moldy smell when I get back! I personally do not think that this ice maker is noisy. I'd say it's even quieter than most in-fridge ice makers. The only time its "loud" is when the ice falls off the freezing rods (I find the little plop plop plop sound to be cute in a weird way) and then when the scoop dumps the ice into the bin but unless the bin is completely empty, again, its really not loud... and I live in a studio apartment so I'm never that far away from the ice maker. It doesn't impede on watching tv or listening to my records and while I usually turn it off before bed I've totally left it on many nights and it's never woken me up! I also find the ice holds fairly well inside the machine bin. I turn it on when I wake up in the morning and the ice is melted but there's still roughly half a basket full. I appreciate that this recycles the melted water as well!! ... show more

This is our first of this brand after we had few cheap brands. This machine is well built. You can make small or large cubes. It makes ice rather quick compared to the others we’ve had.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 UPDATE 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Replacement has been received, April 2021. Company stands behind their warranty! I first want to say, I purchased this at full price, no discount & nothing free for my honest review. I loved the ice maker before it stopped working! Purchased July 23, 2020, stopped working April 20, 2021. :( at this price it should last longer, at least a year. I called customer service and could not get an answer as to whether or not there was the typical one year warranty, the customer rep Josh I spoke with was very nice and promised to try and find out if it could be replaced. I will update later on company/ customer service. 😀🌟🌟🌟 UPDATE 🌟🌟🌟😀 At initial contact I did provide proof of purchase. Within a few hours I received an email notification from Josh, they will send me a replacement, I am very pleased. So, I got this guy (machine) and I’m glad I did. Within a few minutes, I have ice! That’s awesome for working in the heat at/in places that do not have freezers, this fixes that as I can cool down with my now refreshingly cold beverages. I know it’s really for RVs but using it at work works out for me and now it’s such a comfort to have ice at my disposal. Two sizes, small and large, and it’s quick. No bad taste - just using bottled water and it’s great. My brother liked it so much, he is buying one too! Only reasons I didn’t give it 5 stars were: 1. I wish it had more insulation to keep the cold in/not let ice melt over time BUT it reuses the melted water to make ice so there’s that. 2. I wish it had a larger tray for more ice. I was so excited to not have to buy ice as my refrigerator freezer in apartment small. Sleek looking and blended well w the stainless black appliances. Made a tub of ice(wonderful). Shut off unit and turned on again to make another tub of ice week or so later. Would of make ice. So disappointed. Now have to return and find another. My family gathered for my wife’s birthday bringing the total of 12 people. No refrigerator icemaker can keep up with that. This icemaker is fantastic. If it’ finished making ice, it will keep it frozen for 18 hours If you forget to empty it. Two thumbs up.
