  • It may take time but well worth the wait, great machine!
Style: Mag Plus
I’ve had this machine for almost 3 months and can say I am highly satisfied. Coming from having a Gaggia Brera for many many years, this is a true upgrade in reliability, as well as convenience with the milk carafe. Water reservoir is larger, as well as the bean storage. One of the main attractions for me was that the milk carafe for the magnífica plus is 100% dishwasher safe. The other machine components seem easy to clean and maintain also. Certain ones are also dishwasher safe while others aren’t but they are labelled on each part. The personalization of espresso strength and length of shot, as well as milk texture and volume is a huge bonus. I will say it takes time to dial in the grind size to your liking, but once I got it a month or so in, it’s been wonderful ever since. Overall, I am very happy with the magnífica plus and think it was a great investment. ... show more

  • Poor quality machine and support is horrible
Style: Mag Plus
I was so excited to receive the machine - makes great coffee. All of a sudden it kept going to milk drinks and you had to exit out to get all drinks. I usually make coffee so this was extremely annoying. It then started flashing between Milk and Coffee drinks (the light below those) and you had to clear out. Then it no longer lights up with you hit either. Due to it being purchase just over 60 days I now had to go directly to DeLonghi and their support is horrendous. We did some troubleshooting and it was determined there is a bad computer / communication board and it needs to be sent in. I then receive email I will receive a box with instructions and I received an empty shipping box with label, padding but no instructions. I wanted about a week for instructions to be emailed and never happened. I am packing it today taking to fed ex and hoping for the best. For a machine over $1K and having these type of issues in less than 90 days it should be replaced and they should refurbish this machine. Thankful I saved by Moca Master coffee pot in the event of issues or I would have no coffee pot for 2 weeks minimum. Very disappointed and regretful I ever purchased. ... show more

  • I Loved My Breville. Then My Laziness Evolved...
Style: Mag Plus
I bought the De’Longhi Magnifica Plus as a transition away from the Breville Barista Express, which I genuinely loved. Some enthusiasts would argue the Breville makes better espresso and honestly that may be true. It also required daily effort, frequent cleaning, and emotional availability. Eventually, my laziness reached its final form and I chose convenience without sacrificing quality. This machine heats up in about 30 seconds, makes strong, consistently great espresso, and gets used multiple times a day. The UI is incredibly simple. No fiddling, no rituals, no drama. Press a button, get excellent espresso. The milk frothing is smooth and reliable, and the cleaning effort is almost suspiciously low. It automatically rinses itself on startup and shutdown (just make sure the drip tray is in place). About once a week, I rinse the brew group under water and pop it back in. When it tells me to descale, I descale it. Total maintenance time is maybe 5 minutes per week. For comparison, my Breville took about 5 minutes of cleaning per day, plus another 3–5 minutes per drink. I loved the coffee. I simply chose not to be an unpaid barista. Pros: - Practically self-cleaning - Very simple, intuitive UI - Strong, consistent, great-tasting espresso - Heats up fast (~30 seconds) - Excellent milk frothing - Tons of drink options - Doppio+ mode = a very strong shot (~18g) Cons: - Bean hopper could use a gasket seal - Build quality isn’t ultra-premium At this price, it’s an easy recommendation. If you want great espresso and have accepted that convenience is now a core value, this machine is a no-brainer. I loved my Breville. I just love not working for my coffee more. Five stars! ... show more

  • Great New Auto Coffee Machine!
Style: Mag Plus
This new DeLonghi Magnifica Plus is AMAZING! I have owned a Miele 6350 for over ten years. I must say here that it was my first Auto Espresso machine that grinds and brews multiple Coffee Drinks at the push of a button. In that period of time it produced over 14,000 flawless cups of FRESH coffee. During that time, I used only distilled water to minimize buildup of Calcium and other sediment in the brew unit. Recently, it stopped working. I looked for a repair facility in Colorado. There aren't any! I couldn't locate ANY FACTORY AUTHORIZED repair facilities within reasonable driving distance. I went back to Williams Sonoma where I purchased the unit for around $3000 ten years ago. They had no solutions for how to get the machines repaired. While I was there, they demonstrated both a Jura machine (almost $4000) and a Delonghi machine (about $1900). I did some research online and found that Delonghi (an Italian maker) had factory authorized repair centers in Colorado, Utah, and Texas. The Delonghi also made EXCELLENT coffee drinks that tasted great (every bit as good as the Jura. Williams Sonoma did NOT have a Miele Machine in the store. After looking at prices online (ie. AMAZON), I found this Magnifica Plus that has a modern touch screen selection for every hot Coffee Drink including those with Milk Foam or Hot Milk that I am interested in. The more expensive machine at Williams Sonoma even made cold Brewed Coffee (for about $900 more). I also watched an excellent video presentation for this Magnifica Plus on the Amazon website putting this machine through its paces for various coffee drinks. This Machine EXPERT has reviewed many different coffee makers (Tom's Coffee Corner). His video presentation, the DeLonghi sample that I had at Williams Sonoma, and the Local Factory service made up my mind on this machine. In addition, if you register it online, they give you an additional year of factory warranty (3 years total!). I have used this machine for about thirty days now and it has been excellent. makes a better cup of coffee than my old Miele, AND it was about $1500 LESS than replacing the Miele. THISIS A WINNER! ... show more

  • Couldn't be happier with this machine
Style: Mag Plus
After a trip to Europe my husband and I got used to daily cappuccino and didn't want to give that up when we got home. We did our research and bought this machine and have now decided we will always have a fully automatic espresso machine in our house. Makes amazing regular coffee, capachinos, and all sorts of other coffee drinks. One thing to be aware of though is that this machine does require regular cleaning and the filters and descaler can be a little pricey. This would not change our mind on our purchase at all...we've had this for almost a year and now can't live without it, but it is something to be aware of. Even though the machine is pretty expensive we really think it's worth the cost. Going out to coffee shops can get pricy quick and usually this machine will make better coffee anyhow. ... show more

  • Stopped working, terrible customer service
Style: Mag Plus
Update: I returned to California, my home address for a week and picked up the box with padding this company insists I use. I had to mail it back to myself overseas, costing $65. To mail a darn box! The weight of the box will cost me over $100 to mail to the states for repair. When repaired, they cannot mail the machine to me. I’ll have to have it sent to a friend’s house to sit until I move back. I e-mailed customer service to ask if I need to have the carafe in the box too. Its cracked. I need a new one. They refuse to respond. Garbage machine and even worse customer service. — This shipped perfectly well from the DeLonghi store on Amazon to my overseas military post office. Every service member in my area has to have a post office box. That doesn’t mean items get crammed into a box. It just means that you have to go to a post office window to pick up your box. It’s pretty cut and dry. While I was really excited for this machine, it completely stopped working within four months of purchase. Machine continues to turn itself on and off mid cycle. After an entire month of back-and-forth with customer service, they have come to the conclusion that the warranty does not apply to me any longer because of my physical location. They are stating they cannot ship packing materials for me to send this back for a repair to any post office box and even if the item was repaired, they cannot send it to me because I live overseas. So an entire espresso machine can be shipped to my post office box but they cannot ship packing materials?? Their solution is that when I’m finished my military service I return to the states and take care of it then. That will be way past the warranty. Make this makes sense please. I spend almost $1000 on a coffee machine that broke within four months and there’s not a single thing they will do to help me. Completely refusing my request for a refund. It was great while it worked, although even the extra large coffee was still small in size comparatively. I raved about this machine initially and intended to buy several for home, warming gifts, but will never do business with this company again. ... show more

  • My first 'superautomatic' and couldn't be happier with it
Style: Mag Plus
I love coffee but have always used a simple drip machine at home. I recently made the decision to invest in a fully-automated espresso machine, a superautomatic as I’ve learned they are called, just to see what I was missing out on. I gave myself a budget of $1000, which is 10x what my current drip coffee maker cost. After doing lots of research I settled on the Delonghi Magnifica Plus. (It was on sale for $999 for Black Friday.) The reasons: it came highly recommended in user forums, was getting great reviews by coffee experts, and had all the features that people complained about not having in less expensive models (easy to maintain, fully configurable, chute for ground coffee, etc.) If you look at the reviews here, you’ll notice that most of the complaints are about the cheaper models (Start, Evo) and not the Plus. The bottom line: I absolutely love it! It look me a bit of experimenting, but I eventually found the right grind/shot strength/water amount/temperature to always get my perfect cup of coffee. (I drink Americanos.) I do rely on the ability to personalize all the settings and can see how it would be frustrating not to be able to do so with a cheaper model. I haven’t used the milk attachment, but I like knowing that it’s there in case I want to experiment. The UI is well designed and it’s easy to use. The only downside is that it’s so easy to make an amazing cup of coffee that it’s hard not to drink more than I should. Another downside is that I’ve stopped going to my favorite coffee shop as often, as I can now get an arguably better cup of coffee at home. I hadn’t considered this when I first bought it, but the machine will actually pay for itself within a year. ... show more

  • Great product. Just wish the milk was hotter.
Style: Mag Plus
It doesn’t get the milk hot enough. The coffee is wonderful. But when you put the milk in, it’s kind of cool it down too much. In my opinion I like my coffee hot.
