I was experiencing intermittent car startup failure over a period of several months with a high quality battery that was less than 2 years old. I wasn't sure if I was having an alternator or battery problem. It appeared that my old electrical battery charger was successfully recharging my mysteriously discharged battery in the beginning—and life was good. But then after a short time, with increasing regularity, I found myself away from home having to get somebody to jump me when my freshly charged battery was completely dead again. Finally, when my son, visiting from out of town for Father’s Day, came to my rescue by using his compact car battery jump starter instead of traditional jumper cables, I was inspired to find out more about these wonderful products. After doing exhaustive research online through Amazon, I came across this product. And what really impressed me was the digital readout diagnostics built into the cable unit, as this feature alone would save me the money I would have spent getting my car diagnosed from a professional mechanic. And while I paid more than I initially wanted to dish out for this kind of product, I ended up actually saving money and paying less because this product eliminated the need for me to pursue profession diagnostic services. After receiving this product, I immediately concluded that I had a defective battery (after charging it for 24 hours, the battery voltage only displayed 10 volts) and did not need to have my alternator replaced after all. Since my battery was still under a 3 year full replacement warranty, I used this product to jump start my dead battery; drove to the store where I purchased my battery, took out my dead battery from my car, carried it into the store to receive a free replacement battery, even checking the new battery with this product for quality assurance as well.     • Polar cold battery challenge against the DBPower 2000A
In early January 2019, we read about the Polar Vortex collapse, and weather predictions of extreme cold in northeastern US. Since last year we experienced my girlfriend's car having difficulty starting in very cold temperatures, we ordered the Jump Starter 2000A (G16). It was a little more costly than others, but I had some Christmas Amazon giftcards . . . The unit arrived in 3 days, (free shipping-Prime!) and I charged it up using my 5V charger (overnight). The price includes a nice carrying case (zippered) and it has a built-in LED light and USP-slots for charging phones/etc. I took it to my girlfriend's home, and showed her how to use it, charge it, and set it up inside. Last night, the temp fell to 6-deg-F, and she went out this morning, hooked the "Jump Starter" up (used the built-in light), and the battery had plenty of strength to start her car (first try, no struggle). She put it away in its carrying case, and it still has a lot of charge left, in case she needs it for her commute back home. So far, so very good! The unit worked, was easy to set up, had a useful manual, and fits nicely in the glovebox (inside its carrying case). We are very happy with the unit, and are confident that we can deal with cold mornings this winter. We would buy this again, and know that it has sufficient amperage for starting our Honda. I purchased this jump starter (DBPower model G16) as peace of mind for my car that I'm not able to drive as often as I like. This typically causes the car's battery to drain before I can drive it again. I also don't always want the car plugged into a trickle charger so I bought this jump starter for when or if I need it. With a 3 year warranty, I had no issues buying it now and potentially not using it for a year. However, living in tropical storm and hurricane territory, I plan on using this every season as a battery pack for charging my phones and other devices when the house power goes out. Upon opening the box, my initial impression of the device is that this is a well built item. It has a non-skid rubberized textured outer surface and has a nice weight to it so I don't think it'll slip out of your hands even when wet (from rain). Another nice thing to know is that this entire unit charges over a USB type C cable. However, it does not come with a wall adapter. So, you will have to either already have one of those or purchase one (a typical 5V USB wall adapter). So, if you have a smart phone or tablet, you probably already have one of these wall adapters. It also comes with a very nice "ballistic" type carrying case. It's a formed soft case, stiff enough to hold it's shape and fits everything neatly inside. There is also a little flap inside the case separating the cables from the jump pack as to not damage the jump pack which is a nice detail. The only issue I've had so far is that the jumper cables like to fall out of it's pocket when you unzip the case. Something they could probably easily resolve by making the pocket higher or adding a velcro closure strap. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and anticipating this jump starter to perform as expected when needed. ... show more
