I'll keep this one short -- it lightweight and it works. This thing only weighs about 3 pounds and boiled a quart of water in about 9 minutes on max (almost the same time as my full range). It is 1200 watts so you should definitely have a regular outlet when you're using it (i.e. battery backup will get eaten up pretty darn quick). The only downside I see after a few test uses is that the surrounding surface does get very hot after use (reason for 4/5 stars). It was still over 120°F five minutes after turning off. I had to let it cool for a while before I felt comfortable moving it to an alternate location. I did check the temp beneath the unit and it only got a few degrees hotter than the surrounding area so it should be okay to use on just about any surface -- I'd still put it on a large glass cutting board/trivet if using on a counter top though. ... show more
