It has a compartment that makes it like a small suitcase when it's laid flat, with an extra zip bag inside with elastic bands to hold items in place, where you can put toiletries, shoes etc. It also has a laptop compartment. Very well made, this would be great for a weekend trip or an overnight business trip because you can fit a change of clothes and a pair of shoes, your laptop and other items inside. Love this backpack, it is the perfect exact size for a personal item on airlines! We flew with Frontier airlines and could only bring a personal item, I was able to pack wedding attire, including shoes for everyone, for four people in this bag. Plus I had a small purse and everyone’s swim suits in the bag. My son also carried one of these and he had all the things he needed for our 4 night stay. The outer pocket worked great for his tablet, snacks, and activities to use on the plane. Oh and my water bottle fit in that side mesh pocket it just had been removed for easy access while flying.

This traveling backpack exceeded my expectations both international and domestic flights. It fits perfectly under the airplane seat, which makes it super convenient for easy access during flights. The material feels very durable and high quality, so I don’t have to worry about wear and tear while traveling. What I love most is how well it compacts everything. There are enough compartments to stay organized, and it somehow holds more than it looks like it can. Perfect for short trips or as a personal item. Also, it’s is waterproof and my items kept dry. This backpack/bag is huge! It has one pocket for your laptop or tablet, and then the rest of it is an open area with no pockets at all, which can be a pain if you carry a lot of items like I do. I use this for work, we don't have places to keep items there, so I have to haul everything back and forth. I solved the pocket problem by using my packing cubes for the loose items I carry with me, pens, pencils, crossword and other books, the usual things you might need at work. If it had pockets, it would get a 5 star rating. The zippers are sturdy and slide smoothly, the attached handles are strong. The backpack straps are stitched well and look to be durable, but I've only had this about a week, so I can't really speak to the durability factor. If you use this for traveling, you could probably get away with packing for a weekend using just the bag, the open side is spacious enough to handle clothing, and there is an included wet bag that you could use for shoes if you weren't using it for anything wet. It will definitely fit in the overhead compartment so you an avoid checking the bag too. I wish I'd had this bag for my cruise, it would have been great for embarkation day. I'm sure that you can find many uses for the backpack/bag as I have. It is a good deal for the money I paid, it's sturdy and relatively lightweight. so the bag isn't adding any bulk to what you're carrying. It is a good size for any thing you might want to carry in it. I use my 12" iPad at work, and it fits just fine with room to spare. I also carry 2 liter bottles of soda in it and it's fine. The straps are wide enough that it distributes the weight of what you're carrying very well. My old backpack didn't do that. Overall I am satisfied with the backpack, if there are any issues, I will update the review.

This is a fabulous backpack! It has a perfect number of compartments and is very adjustable. It has worked as my personal bag on Frontier (and other airlines). I like the way it opens up completely all the way around like a mini suitcase (vs a normal backpack which only opens at the top). It definitely fits a tone of clothes and even a pair of shoes. I packed for 6 days in this little backpack, creatively of course. The only thing I don't like is the charger thing that I can't remove to wash the backpack. Without it, I'm sure I could put it in the washer. But it's a sleek material so wiping it with a wet cloth will work fine. I am super glad I bought it, zero regrets.
