------- FEB 13, 2016 Received a detailed response from Wolf Toder of Trackmate GPS and I am posting it here for your benefit. As I mentioned in my original post, their support is good. I've reviewed their responses and believe that the replies are helpful. I am restoring my rating to 5 stars and continue to recommend this GPS tracking solution. ------- FEB 10, 2016 - TRACKMATE SUPPORT Our tracking devices utilize both AT&T as well as the T-Mobile networks. The SIM card detects the nearest cell tower and uses that particular tower to transmit geo location information. At times it uses AT&T towers and at times it uses T-Mobile. Despite the above information, we will be introducing several 3G devices in the near future. Current subscribers will receive attractive upgrade offers. ------- FEB 9, 2016 - TRACKMATE SUPPORT 1. Our tracking devices currently run on dual networks of both AT&T and TMoblile. As you mentioned, some carriers (AT&T) have announced they will sunset 2G during 2017. T-Mobile, however will not discontinue 2G service before 2020. T-Mobile’s coverage network covers 96% of the US population, these 2G devices will continue operating uninterrupted. In the interim, our R&D team is currently in the testing phase of several 3G tracking devices. We will be introducing a portable 3G tracking device within the next several weeks. We anticipate to launch several 3G devices during the 2rd quarter of 2016. As our commitment to customer satisfaction, we will be offering attractive upgrade options for existing subscribers. Details will be forthcoming. 2. It is unusual for a device that is set to track every 3 seconds, not to track as programmed. There is a possibility the device is not installed in an ideal location and/or the antenna may be obstructed. I would suggest to test the tracker on your dashboard, totally eliminating any possible obstruction. Please advise if there is improvement in the tracking frequency. Should there not be noticeable improvement we will do further diagnostics on this device. 3. We investigated the issue with the geo-fencing alerts. It appears to have been resolved. 4. We apologize for the bug which occurred when generating a report or log; this has been fixed. As explained to you over the phone, it was an issue with time zone settings. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. 5. Our Android app is now available. The iOS version will be available within the next several weeks. ------- FEB 2, 2016 Basically this tracker is good but plagued with weird issues - which, their tech support says will be fixed. When they are, I'll reset to the original 5 stars. The real question is, will they really fix the issues. This tracker is 2G technology which is due to sunset in 2017, meaning, it won't work after 2017. I've asked their support what the game plan is for a discounted upgrade to a 3G unit but never received a response which leads me to believe that they simply expect you to buy a new unit. I bought these (2 of them) in 2015 so that's not an appealing prospect. On to the issues. First, I pay for a 3 second refresh rate. I get 30 seconds to a minute. I've never seen 3 seconds refreshes not matter where the units are. I live in three states - DE, FL, and LA (New Orleans), all of which have excellent cell coverage. Like most trackers, a "fencing" option is available. This means you can create a circular "fence" around any location. When the tracker leaves or returns to this area, a text or email (or both) is sent to you. I'm experiencing huge delays in receiving these alerts - particularly in the evening. For example, I returned home around 8:30 PM the past couple of evenings and the alerts arrive, interestingly, at 11 pm EXACTLY. Weird .. and not very helpful. The software also offers a log of events or, alternatively, a map of activity. To see this, you have the option of selecting a window of time like the past 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 8 hours, or whatever, including "Today" which has been my typical choice. Selecting "Today" (it's Feb 2nd around 6:20 pm) returns "No Data" and displays a range of 2/3/2016 12:00:00 AM to 2/2/2016 6:20:01 PM - reversed from what it should be. This is a new bug but screams bad quality assurance and testing when they update their software. Again, I've worked with the support people, Dove and Wolf, for a while and have found them responsive. They are, for obvious reasons, concerned that their customers post a 5 star rating which I initially did. I will return this rating to 5 start when the above issues, particularly the 2G vs 3G are addressed. If not I will lower the rating. ------- ORIGINAL POST So far, an amazing product. I've upgraded my review from 4 stars to 5 stars now that I've seen consistent reliability for a couple of weeks. While it took some time to get the unit up and running (trackable) but this was primarily my fault in that I did not precisely follow the wiring instructions. One wire (green) must be connected to be hot only when the ignition is on - I ignored this and connected it to full-time power. Once this was corrected, the unit came online. The design of the unit is great and installation was easy - at least in my Jeep Sahara. All of the above said, the most outstanding aspect of this unit is the company behind it. Their support is superb, with immediate helpful response. I'm in the process of working with their PC application and am impressed with the functionality and detailed information available - way beyond simple tracking. I was told that a smartphone app is on the way but I've found that the app works fine using my phone's browser. I recommend this product

I purchase this device to use in Mexico (international service) and it works great and It has been working great since the first day with no issues, reception is great, i am able to locate my car anytime, when is parked, when is in movement, it has notifications, geofences, you can stablish perimeters, etc. You can play track history based on a established period of time, you can choose 1 hour, a few hours, the day, etc., once you make your choice of time, it will show you a trace where the car has been with some numbered points that represents the movements of the car, it can also show animated if you choose to, if you do so, just put play and it will display an animated version of the trace of the car. Installation was smooth and the the app is very easy to use. You can disable the fuel pump via the app in case any theft event (even when the car is in movement), i have tried this a few times (to make sure it works) and works flawless anytime. You can also disable the pump as a safety feature when your car is parked when you go to a mall, gym, overnight, etc. I am really happy and the most important, they have great and yes i said GREAT customer service, i even received a call from them just to make sure everything was ok, i have send mails and the reply really fast. I installed on my Jeep Wrangler JL and it works flawlessly, totally recommend.

I’ve been in the auto industry for several years. I’ve been focused on trackers in particular for my work as of late, and we’ve tested and tried many devices for work and personal use over the years. This is the one that’s worked best for my company, and it is the only one I’ve liked well enough to buy for myself. It’s an impressive unit, a great choice for anyone from parents who want to keep their kids safe to business owners who want to protect their fleets. In my line of work, we rely heavily on trackers to make sure deliveries are made on time. Our bottom line is heavily dependent upon timely deliveries. We need to track in a way that lets us get ahead of problems so we can keep our promises to customers, and this device has been a godsend in that way. Service rates are very affordable, too. It’s very easy to install and set up the tracker. We were able to install them on our own with no trouble at all. One of the biggest selling points for us is the backup battery. We don’t have to worry about losing track of our deliveries. We had an emergency situation with a vehicle where we had to rely on the battery, and we were not disappointed. We were able to get another truck out to the site and make the delivery quickly. We use the most intensive monitoring (every 3 seconds) because every second counts when you’ve got multiple vehicles delivering temperature-sensitive packages. The device lets us know about traffic and lets us see street-level views. We can get in touch with customers if we’re going to miss a promised delivery time, and it’s been a great help with our customer satisfaction. Working with the TrackMate customer service team, we created customized reports that allow us to identify and reward our best drivers, and to work with the ones who need improvement. It’s had an effect on morale. On that note, the TrackMate team is phenomenal. They provide a level of customer care that I haven’t experienced before with tracking companies. Seeing how well it’s worked out for my company, I decided to get one for the car our kids are in the most. And it’s been a great way to have peace of mind when my kids are in the car. I enjoy the same accuracy that I have at work in my home, much to my kids’ chagrin.
