------- FEB 13, 2016 Received a detailed response from Wolf Toder of Trackmate GPS and I am posting it here for your benefit. As I mentioned in my original post, their support is good. I've reviewed their responses and believe that the replies are helpful. I am restoring my rating to 5 stars and continue to recommend this GPS tracking solution. ------- FEB 10, 2016 - TRACKMATE SUPPORT Our tracking devices utilize both AT&T as well as the T-Mobile networks. The SIM card detects the nearest cell tower and uses that particular tower to transmit geo location information. At times it uses AT&T towers and at times it uses T-Mobile. Despite the above information, we will be introducing several 3G devices in the near future. Current subscribers will receive attractive upgrade offers. ------- FEB 9, 2016 - TRACKMATE SUPPORT 1. Our tracking devices currently run on dual networks of both AT&T and TMoblile. As you mentioned, some carriers (AT&T) have announced they will sunset 2G during 2017. T-Mobile, however will not discontinue 2G service before 2020. T-Mobile’s coverage network covers 96% of the US population, these 2G devices will continue operating uninterrupted. In the interim, our R&D team is currently in the testing phase of several 3G tracking devices. We will be introducing a portable 3G tracking device within the next several weeks. We anticipate to launch several 3G devices during the 2rd quarter of 2016. As our commitment to customer satisfaction, we will be offering attractive upgrade options for existing subscribers. Details will be forthcoming. 2. It is unusual for a device that is set to track every 3 seconds, not to track as programmed. There is a possibility the device is not installed in an ideal location and/or the antenna may be obstructed. I would suggest to test the tracker on your dashboard, totally eliminating any possible obstruction. Please advise if there is improvement in the tracking frequency. Should there not be noticeable improvement we will do further diagnostics on this device. 3. We investigated the issue with the geo-fencing alerts. It appears to have been resolved. 4. We apologize for the bug which occurred when generating a report or log; this has been fixed. As explained to you over the phone, it was an issue with time zone settings. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. 5. Our Android app is now available. The iOS version will be available within the next several weeks. ------- FEB 2, 2016 Basically this tracker is good but plagued with weird issues - which, their tech support says will be fixed. When they are, I'll reset to the original 5 stars. The real question is, will they really fix the issues. This tracker is 2G technology which is due to sunset in 2017, meaning, it won't work after 2017. I've asked their support what the game plan is for a discounted upgrade to a 3G unit but never received a response which leads me to believe that they simply expect you to buy a new unit. I bought these (2 of them) in 2015 so that's not an appealing prospect. On to the issues. First, I pay for a 3 second refresh rate. I get 30 seconds to a minute. I've never seen 3 seconds refreshes not matter where the units are. I live in three states - DE, FL, and LA (New Orleans), all of which have excellent cell coverage. Like most trackers, a "fencing" option is available. This means you can create a circular "fence" around any location. When the tracker leaves or returns to this area, a text or email (or both) is sent to you. I'm experiencing huge delays in receiving these alerts - particularly in the evening. For example, I returned home around 8:30 PM the past couple of evenings and the alerts arrive, interestingly, at 11 pm EXACTLY. Weird .. and not very helpful. The software also offers a log of events or, alternatively, a map of activity. To see this, you have the option of selecting a window of time like the past 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 8 hours, or whatever, including "Today" which has been my typical choice. Selecting "Today" (it's Feb 2nd around 6:20 pm) returns "No Data" and displays a range of 2/3/2016 12:00:00 AM to 2/2/2016 6:20:01 PM - reversed from what it should be. This is a new bug but screams bad quality assurance and testing when they update their software. Again, I've worked with the support people, Dove and Wolf, for a while and have found them responsive. They are, for obvious reasons, concerned that their customers post a 5 star rating which I initially did. I will return this rating to 5 start when the above issues, particularly the 2G vs 3G are addressed. If not I will lower the rating. ------- ORIGINAL POST So far, an amazing product. I've upgraded my review from 4 stars to 5 stars now that I've seen consistent reliability for a couple of weeks. While it took some time to get the unit up and running (trackable) but this was primarily my fault in that I did not precisely follow the wiring instructions. One wire (green) must be connected to be hot only when the ignition is on - I ignored this and connected it to full-time power. Once this was corrected, the unit came online. The design of the unit is great and installation was easy - at least in my Jeep Sahara. All of the above said, the most outstanding aspect of this unit is the company behind it. Their support is superb, with immediate helpful response. I'm in the process of working with their PC application and am impressed with the functionality and detailed information available - way beyond simple tracking. I was told that a smartphone app is on the way but I've found that the app works fine using my phone's browser. I recommend this product

I do not review a product until I have used it for a long time... and I have had this one since June 29, 2022. I have called or emailed them a few times with questions about the unit (never had a Problem though, as the unit is SOLID). I have always gotten a quick and accurate response each time. They truly care about their product, the service provided, and any suggestions. The unit is very simple to install, and in my case since it is totally hidden (so very hard to take a photo of it) for security reasons, I needed a Solid dependable unit I did not have to access often. This has fit the bill perfectly. The tracking App software has also been updated since I originally purchased the unit, and the changes to the User Interface on the Mobile and Desktop are great. My recent inquiry to them (May 2024) was responded to with a phone call to me the NEXT day.. Agan totally helpful as I am working on activating a feature of the unit I did not need initially. I'm a VERY happy user of this equipment.

As the Owner of David Driving School it was essential to get a tracker that could assist me with efficiency in my business. A friend recommended TrackMate to me around 8 months ago and we tried it one of our vehicles. The abilities of this device surpassed our expectations so much that we purchased TrackMates for all of our vehicles. We can now track where our drivers are so that if a student calls we can update them with an ETA for the driver. We can also track mileage, fuel, fuel economy along with get reports on speed, exiting territory and set night fences to make sure all our vehicles are back nightly in the lot. If there is any breach an email and text is sent to me and I get live reports as it happens that a car is not where it is supposed to be. This device is absolutely incredible, I highly recommend it to anyone who has a fleet and wants to monitor there vehicles and drivers. It is also a very good tool for parents with teenagers, will help track their whereabouts and give you notifications if a certain speed is exceeded. Installation was super fast and easy, registering the device was even simpler and the online interface and mobile app are so easy to use and intuitive. Excellent job all around, thanks for the great product

I installed the original Dash tracking unit on a side-bt-side I have. The vehicle remains at a rental property unattended for months at a time. I wanted a way to track it's whereabouts in case of unauthorized use or theft. I was having battery drainage issues with my first unit, so I contacted Trackmategps and they had a newer replacement that was an easy swap for the original. The nice benefit was a sleep mode option that would not drain the battery when left for long periods without moving. This new model seems to be the right one for me. Both models have nice interfacing software, ability to add 'fences' to alert me when it's on the move, etc. Their help department responded to a question I emailed them after regular working hours, on a weekend no less. If it continues to work without any issues, I'll upgrade my rating to 5 stars in a few months. Thanks trackmategps for my peace of mind that my property is where I expect it to be when I can't be around to watch it myself! On a side note, the original unit took about 2-3 weeks to drain a motorcycle sized battery, so this would probably not be an issue for most users who use a vehicle at least a couple times a month, or vehicles with larger car sized batteries.
