I’ve spent a lot of time using traditional spirit boxes, especially the classic SB-7, so I went into the Sam and Colby XPLR Spirit Box a little skeptical. After using it, though, I can honestly say it delivers the same core feel and functionality that SB-7 users will immediately recognize… while quietly packing in several extra features that make it far more versatile in the field. Right out of the box, the scanning behavior and overall operation feel very familiar. If you’ve ever used an SB-7, you’ll feel at home within minutes. The controls are straightforward, the sweep works smoothly, and the device behaves exactly how you’d expect during sessions. One noticeable improvement is the built-in speaker. It’s louder and clearer than my SB-7, which makes it much easier to use without external amplification when you’re working in larger or noisier environments. Another thing I noticed is that the static feels slightly more controlled. I can’t say for certain whether there’s an actual noise gate built in, but it definitely seems like there’s some subtle filtering happening because the harshness of constant static is reduced compared to my SB-7. The result is a listening experience that feels cleaner and less fatiguing during longer sessions. Where this unit really starts to separate itself is in the extra features. The built-in flashlight is incredibly practical. Whether you’re navigating dark locations or just need quick illumination without carrying extra gear, it’s one of those simple additions that ends up being more useful than expected. The thermometer is another nice touch, offering readings in either Fahrenheit or Celsius, which is convenient depending on your preference or the context of your investigation. Then there’s the integrated REM POD function. It’s a great inclusion that adds another layer of interaction without needing a separate device. When you first power it on, it can be a little noisy while it initializes, but once it settles in, it works just fine and becomes a really solid feature to have built directly into the unit. Overall build quality feels good, the interface is easy to understand, and the extra tools make this more than just another spirit box. It’s basically a familiar SB-7 style experience with thoughtful upgrades that make it more versatile and convenient to use in real-world situations. And honestly, the price is what pushes this into “must-have” territory. At around $40, or even less if you catch it on sale, it’s an absolute steal for everything it offers. Between the improved speaker, the familiar operation, decent battery life (I use rechargeable AAx3), and the added flashlight, thermometer, and REM POD, you’re getting a lot of functionality in one compact package. If you already like the SB-7 but want something with extra tools and a slightly more refined feel (but basically the same kind of plastic casing; I'm not gonna lie here), the Sam and Colby XPLR Spirit Box is an easy recommendation. For the price, it’s a fantastic value and a surprisingly capable all-in-one investigation device. NOTE: I rated it 5 stars based on functionality and overall value at this price-point; it's a no-brainer.

Works very well. Love the price. Easy to learn. Already have gotten clear and concise answers to direct questions with witnesses to make sure they were hearing the same thing. Rem pod feature works very well too. And those alone are so expensive. This scanning ghost box radio is a two in one! And cheaper than other radios already that are just radios, so I think that is a pretty good deal! It does both! Hold the scanner button down to get it started. Backlight feature is pretty. And the scanner has a reverse feature too and a flashlight as well. And obviously can just be used as a radio. But that’s not what we really want it for is it fellow ghost hunters? I recommend it 100%.

Best friend contacted dead twin brother who died in the womb. Had full conversation with him and they caught up together. Touching moment. I left the room because I was freaking out.im just scared of knowing before I have to. Happy he talked to his brother. Its very good definitely works. Im still shook up from the experience though.

The device is a good value for the features it offers, especially for someone looking for an entry-level spirit box. The price is fair, but the listing would benefit from clearer explanations of what the product actually includes. This unit does not function as an REM device, so buyers should be aware of that before purchasing. What the device does provide is still useful for basic paranormal investigating. It includes a spirit box function for scanning radio frequencies, a built-in temperature sensor that displays environmental changes, and a small integrated flashlight for low-light situations. These features work as expected with exception to the temperature sensor. I did some testing and unfortunately the device will track the screen's temperature instead of the room temperature. However, if there are temperature changes, this will be reflected with the feature. The labeling on the packaging was a bit confusing, as an additional sticker was placed over the original text. It doesn’t affect the functionality, but it’s worth mentioning.

the only reason I am not giving this a 5 star review is because the sweeping is so faint you can hardly tell it's even seeeping through channels but that being said the rest is great the rem pod works perfect the temperature is always accurate I would hands down recommend if you want to start communicating with the dead but don't wants to spend an arm and a leg this is your go to!

As an ITC specialist who's tested on skinwalker ranch and some very well known locations this spirit box is amazing . It has fantastic options , i do recommend getting a louder speaker to use with it but its not needed. This box absolutely is better than the sb7 and is less than half the cost. I own two of these and will replace them both if needed . This is a fantastic radio for pros and or beginners. Buy it before the price doubles. Great job Sam and Cody.

I bought this and it does not work, it only goes through radio stations, very cheaply made, the size isn't great but the value of the spirit box, is not worth the $40.

This is a great Spirit box. Small and low priced, and works. You will definatley know when a spirit comes through. It sounds different than just random radio sounds. Get ready to be amazed.
