Sam and Colby XPLR Spirit Box – A Feature-Packed "Upgrade" That Still Feels Familiar
I’ve spent a lot of time using traditional spirit boxes, especially the classic SB-7, so I went into the Sam and Colby XPLR Spirit Box a little skeptical. After using it, though, I can honestly say it delivers the same core feel and functionality that SB-7 users will immediately recognize… while quietly packing in several extra features that make it far more versatile in the field. Right out of the box, the scanning behavior and overall operation feel very familiar. If you’ve ever used an SB-7, you’ll feel at home within minutes. The controls are straightforward, the sweep works smoothly, and the device behaves exactly how you’d expect during sessions. One noticeable improvement is the built-in speaker. It’s louder and clearer than my SB-7, which makes it much easier to use without external amplification when you’re working in larger or noisier environments. Another thing I noticed is that the static feels slightly more controlled. I can’t say for certain whether there’s an actual noise gate built in, but it definitely seems like there’s some subtle filtering happening because the harshness of constant static is reduced compared to my SB-7. The result is a listening experience that feels cleaner and less fatiguing during longer sessions. Where this unit really starts to separate itself is in the extra features. The built-in flashlight is incredibly practical. Whether you’re navigating dark locations or just need quick illumination without carrying extra gear, it’s one of those simple additions that ends up being more useful than expected. The thermometer is another nice touch, offering readings in either Fahrenheit or Celsius, which is convenient depending on your preference or the context of your investigation. Then there’s the integrated REM POD function. It’s a great inclusion that adds another layer of interaction without needing a separate device. When you first power it on, it can be a little noisy while it initializes, but once it settles in, it works just fine and becomes a really solid feature to have built directly into the unit. Overall build quality feels good, the interface is easy to understand, and the extra tools make this more than just another spirit box. It’s basically a familiar SB-7 style experience with thoughtful upgrades that make it more versatile and convenient to use in real-world situations. And honestly, the price is what pushes this into “must-have” territory. At around $40, or even less if you catch it on sale, it’s an absolute steal for everything it offers. Between the improved speaker, the familiar operation, decent battery life (I use rechargeable AAx3), and the added flashlight, thermometer, and REM POD, you’re getting a lot of functionality in one compact package. If you already like the SB-7 but want something with extra tools and a slightly more refined feel (but basically the same kind of plastic casing; I'm not gonna lie here), the Sam and Colby XPLR Spirit Box is an easy recommendation. For the price, it’s a fantastic value and a surprisingly capable all-in-one investigation device. NOTE: I rated it 5 stars based on functionality and overall value at this price-point; it's a no-brainer.

Finally! A more affordable Spirit Box!
Firstly, I am so glad that there is finally a lower priced, entry level spirit box. The pros : Very affordable. Great multi function tool for your paranormal toolbox. It's Sam and Colby XPLR branded so being a fan this was a plus for me. It works as described and has loads of functions for such a small package. Cons : The speaker isn't the loudest however it is clear and legible. To be expected for the price. The REM function does work but can be a little wonky when used around allot of equipment especially wifi and cell phones. Other than that it is an awesome piece of gear made accessible for the lower budget ghost hunters. Highly recommend I use mine regularly.

Better than expected.
We had a planned investigation at Missouri State Penitentiary and we wanted a spirit box. For the price, we thought we would give it a shot. We didn’t read the description fully so were unaware that there was also a built in REM function, a huge plus. Battery life is excellent, we have used it on a 3 hour investigation plus numerous times getting to know the device outside of that with no loss in battery life. The display is bright and clear and the background color can be changed to your preference. Instructions were easy to ready, making this a very easy to use product. Durability wise, the cats spilled a glass of water on it and it works just the same after being dried out. Speaking to the REM feature, I suggest you always extend the antenna for better range and do not hold it as you will trigger the rem function and it will sound the alert non-stop. Compared to the other options out there and for the price, this is hard to beat if you’re just getting started with investigating.

Works decently
Would give it a 5 but I’m not sure the REM Pod function works on my device. With that said the spirit box definitely works! Yes sometimes the sound is low but there is a port for an external speaker. Most of the time the speaker is loud enough to hear clearly.

Works perfectly
Love itttttr. The rem mode works perfectly. Everything just works perfectly. The stand is not very reliable though :/ but I wouldn’t let that stop you from buying it. Such a good starting out piece that isn’t too pricey. And it has a little flashlight attached!!!

JUNK -DO NOT WASTE YOUR $$
DO NOT DISREGARD BAD REVIEWS LIKE I DID! Temu sells better crap electronics than this!! Sam and Colby XPLR Spirit Box is gimmicky crap junk and doesn’t work. No sound with or without headphones. Batteries get sucked dry even when not on. I would return but all the packaging was tossed. A waste of money🤬 **I have since purchased professional trifield meter and those batteries have yet to deplete by 1 bar. Sam and Colby XPLR Spirit Box has gone through 3 sets of batteries and I’ve used it less than 30 minutes checking it out and trying to get it to work properly. This is just a ploy to get as much money as fast as possible. No way this was built for people who want to actually use it or have ever done any actual investigating. SAM AND COLBY SHOULD BE EMBARASSED BUT I BET THEY ARE LAUGHING ON THEIR WAY TO THE BANK and at all of us who purchased their crap.

Ok for a starter
Good quality for the money. Only putting three stars because it is super quiet. Had to get an external speaker to amplify and if you use headphones it’s a little better but wish it went louder. Easy to use and the batteries have lasted me several investigations. The light isn’t too bright which is great. It’s super durable and light weight. It seems to pause on certain stations that get picked up longer than others that it scans through.
