The media could not be loaded. The key to enjoying this item is to have realistic expectations. It’s not going to preform in the same way as a much more expensive machine. That being said, I’ve had a really great experience so far. There is a pretty steep learning curve and my first few attempts were not so successful. Here are some things that I’ve learned that have attributed to my success: 1. It is small. Like two scoops small. Don’t overfill it or you’re going to have a bad time. If you have two kids you might think about buying two of these. (It also needs a full 24 hours of freezer time between uses.) 2. Make sure to have everything ready to go. It will immediately start freezing around the edges once liquid is added. 3. Don’t make the mixture too thick. Liquid consistency is better. 5. Have enough fat in your recipe. Less fat means more ice crystals and less creamy texture. 6. The lid doesn’t exactly lock in place. It does have some grooves that it will click into. After you set the lid on turn the lid and you can feel it click into place. 7. You’re not going to get rock hard ice cream like at the store. It’s more along the lines of soft serve. If you wanted a more ice cream like consistency you’d need to freeze it after churning. If that’s what you want just buy the big ice cream machine. I have only used this for frozen yogurt but it works really well. I out about a cup of plain Greek yogurt 5% fat) in a bowl and add some almond milk and a splash of half and half. Then I add whatever flavoring or fruit that I want and stir it all up. I get the best results when it is liquid or near liquid in consistency. I’ve found it’s a good way to get extra protein while still satisfying the ice cream cravings. It’s easy to clean. The paddle detaches from the motor. It comes with a plastic spoon. I haven’t used any other spoons but I don’t think metal is a good idea. I hand wash everything and it doesn’t take much time. ... show more

I've been on a keto diet for quite some time and, darn it all, I miss ice cream. Recently, while recovering from surgery, I decided I'd probably be okay with a little treat now and again. But...yeah...I really don't want to be eating sugar, nor do I want to pay a lot of money for ice cream like stuff from the store claiming to be keto. My little Dash My Pint arrived yesterday and I opened it up, read the directions, and immediately popped the inner container into the freezer overnight. Yes, I know 24 hours is what the directions say, but I could only wait 16 hours. It worked fine. I made an ice cream mix of 1 cup of heavy whipping cream, two egg yolks, a dash of salt, a squirt of liquid stevia, and a capful of vanilla extract and set the machine off. Impatient as I am, rather than waiting the full 30 minutes, I checked after 15 minutes and deemed it soft serve enough to eat. It was delicious and just the right amount for me; one cup. I did notice, as have other folks, that as your mixture freezes at the bottom of the cup it's possible for the lid, where the motor lives, to lift off. This isn't great, so I dropped one star, but if you know it's going to happen, you can deal with it. This is not the best ice cream maker in the world by any stretch. But it does work and works very well for the price. I really don't want to have quarts of ice cream around, no matter the carb count. So, for me, this is perfect. I can make a treat when I want, but not too much. I can't report on long this appliance will last, but my experience with other Dash small appliances is that they are well made and last quite some time if you take reasonable care of them. I bought this for my kids, 12 and 16. They love it! My 12 year old is able to do this on his own and uses it at least 3 times a week. It is easy to use and makes really yummy ice cream!

Works well, but makes only about 7-10 spoonfuls about 1/2 cup. It holds 1 cup of mix but when it’s done churning makes about 1/2 cup of a Wendy’s frosty consistency icecream. So I have to get something bigger ( maybe a quart)…I also read a few comments about the lid not staying on but it clicks on. You have to hear it click and lock in place (and try to turn it yourself) to see that it stays on. You can’t just put it on and expect that it will stay on if it doesn’t lock into place. I’ve done this and it runs by itself. I left it in the kitchen for 30 minutes. Update: it made the ice cream pictured well the first time but by the second time the machine got hot and the end result was much more watery.
