Freeze dried strips of chicken. Nearly all of it is in solid pieces, but yes there are some crumb. Same goes for emergency supply cans too. I am used to expecting up to a quarter of the bag or can to have crumbs or smaller bits. Not sure what can realistically be done about crumblage. I tend to use the strips for use as a meal topper for my super picky lab. I primarily use cooked chicken, but if I am running low/out/or none available in store, then I switch to a freeze dried form. What I do is hand crumble the chicken into powder as I sprinkle it into food. It breaks apart very easily (this is any brand), and then it coats the kibble more evenly than just tossing chunks on top. Then I will top it off with a few chunks for added interest. Of course also nice as a treat, for stuffing a kong with. While I prefer the chicken that comes from an emergency can, the price of non emergency packed food is much less expensive for pretty much same stuff. Not sure yet if this is a repurchase, but if y boy continues to like it then it will be. I chose this because the bag clearly stated that it is Made AND sourced in USA. ... show more

I've been giving my cats "Life's essentials freeze dried chicken treets" for several years Fantastic product BUT soooo expensive (and the price seems to keep going up) Well this product costs a lot less and my cats love it Thank God I was considering stopping the treets due to the extreme price

I have brought other freeze dried treat and have had mixed results. Some really smell bad, which worries me. I brought some other freeze dried chicken at a local pet shop, which didn’t smell good and gave my dogs diarrhea for two days. Freeze drying just removes water so if the treats smell bad either the freeze drying process was done incorrectly (left too much water in meat post drying so bacteria could still grow) or the meat smelled bad before the freeze drying process. You want neither for your dog or cat. This product does not smell bad. My dogs love it and it has plenty of chunks of meat. No diarrhea! And one pound post drying is really a great deal. ... show more

Good quality and good price for the amount. It's a mix of bigger pieces and small shreds. Cat loves the bigger pieces as a meal on their own and I use shreds as a topper for her wet food. Bag lasts about 5 weeks for her. Going to try their freeze dried liver for dog treats next.
