I purchased this dash cam on 12/29/21, today is 2/11/24 - I am writing this review 3 years later because 1. I partially forgot about reviewing it & 2. I wanted to really give it time to settle. WELL, 3 years later: FIVE STARS STILL. I literally have zero complaints about this camera. For someone who isn’t too tech savvy, and needed something basic because I got into an accident and it was a major headache proving I wasn’t at fault, I needed something that could just capture what I needed it to and save it for review when/if needed. This camera has saved my ass twice in the the past three years I’ve had it. It’s footage has won an arbitration insurance claim. It is really easy and straight forward to maneuver, you almost forget it’s there until you need it. The suction is still sticking perfectly fine, I’ve not needed to replace it. The memory card is also great, I haven’t needed to delete footage and I grab what I need right away off it when I need anyways. I’m purchasing the same for my partner for Valentine’s Day as a gift for his new Mercedes. I would HIGHLY recommend. The only reason I’m thinking of upgrading is because it does not run when the car isn’t in motion. Although it says it does, my car was side swept on the street a year ago and it didn’t capture that moment (luckily there were plenty witnesses and I was able to get that fixed without being listed at fault). Maybe I just haven’t learned the function but I went through every setting in that camera, even turned on the motion sensor feature and it still didn’t capture it or any other time I tested it with the vehicle not in motion or off completely. I have not needed to use the videos for anything other than checking their quality and the quality seems fine. Good enough to see a license plate from a few car length ahead of you. The field of view is good and covers plenty of area in the front. It claims 170-degrees but I think that is a bit of a stretch. It certainly seems good enough to catch all the cars at a four-way stop and that is good enough for my needs. The price was reasonable, the image quality appears good enough for its intended purpose and the size is small enough to fit most places without obstruction or drawing attention to your vehicle. ... show more

I only say I’m pretty sure it works because I haven’t got in a crash so I’ve had no need to look at the footage but it seems like it’s doing its job! Instructions are clear but a little confusing, but that’s okay because ofc they have customer service and such. It takes a bit to set up, but that’s also not a super complicated process. Has great quality at night and day with some pretty cool functions like telling you when you need to turn on your lights so the camera can see or taking photos/emergency videos. The only thing I don’t like about it is the stupid long charging cord and the fact that it doesn’t turn on and off with my car (I have to manually turn it off or it’ll just run even with my car off- waste of footage and battery (then again, this could also just be user error and I could be completely wrong)). ... show more

    • Didn't work when I needed it most
almost 2 years after having this camera I finally think I can put it to good use after I get into a small accident with a red light runner, however the camera DID NOT RECORD THE IMPACT.... it recorded for exactly 3 mins just before it happened but it cuts off SECONDS before the accident occurred. It didn't record anything else for about an hour until we got the police report done and I got back in my car. Even when the man admitted fault directly to me, camera should've recorded it, but it didn't. Insurance wont accept the video i have because the impact wasn't recorded. I'm so so upset. Checked the SD card on my computer and a lot of the files (old and new ones) are corrupted, tried recovering and repairing the files for hours and nothing... This really sucks. ... show more

This Apeman camera is priced like crappy ones, but it's a pro-quality camera! I doubt I'll ever use all the features, but for the reason it was purchased, video quality and clarity, it far surpasses its predecessor! Beautiful video, steady, clear. Stills are photo quality. Albeit, it's brand new, but these are the current results. If it diminishes I'll be back. Easy to install as well, I used the windshield glue mount so can't rate the suction cup, but most of them work very well. Camera is virtually weightless. Cabin audio is 'there,' but pretty muted, at least on mine. BEWARE ordering hardwire kit, I ordered for this specific camera and received a kit with the wrong plug and the fuse block adapter for my GMC was too thick to fit any slot. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Great camera for the money. I had an incident that was scary for a moment. We were driving north of the Golden Gate bridge. Look at the photo attached. There was a truck headed in the opposite direction and a piece of debris fell off that truck and in a split second I saw it headed to my windshield and myface. I ducked for a second till I heard impact. Fortunately it was not glass breaking. It hit the A pillar between the windshield and drivers door. If you look at the center of the attached picture you will see the object flying towards me. This is a screen grab of the video. The video is also great yet it happens so fast and flies by at record speed. We were on our anniversary and when we arrived at our destination I downloaded and reviewed. I contacted our Insurance company AAA and they had a special link for me to upload video and still shots. Unfortunately for the insurance company the truck did not have a front license plate yet there was no doubt about the damage I received. It left no doubt in the minds of my insurance company. For that reason I LOVE THIS CAMERA. Also I ended up using silicone to attach to windshield because after the first year of car being parked in sun, suction cup went bad. Now its not going anywhere till I want it removed. ... show more
