Style: Drop It Like A Squat
I just used this for the first time today and OMG IT WAS AMAZING! It offered so much padding that I was able to add more weight to my squats and hip thrusts. The quality of this is top notch. The pad is hard but very comfortable on my shoulders/neck and pelvis. The nylon material on the outside is thick and super durable. It fits nicely in my small gym bag. The only thing that's a negative for me is that it barely fits around the smith machine barbell. It did fit, but I had to pull it really tight to have the velcro parts make contact. Now, that could be because it's brand new and the material is really good quality and not stretchy. It may fit better as I break it in. This is the best $8 I've ever spent. I can't believe the quality of this for the cost.

I've only had it for a few weeks, and I can only compare it to the ones at the gym. I have a shoulder problem, so I must use these paddings because the bare bar puts my shoulder in an uncomfortable position. But compared to the gym ones (24-hours fitness or Lifetime Fitness), this one seems firmer and sturdier (and, of course, not as beat up). But maybe my standards are low because the gym ones are not in their best condition, and often don't even fit the bar well. This one hugs the bar snugly and stays put, and generally the material feels good. Anyway, short review for me, I find this one an upgrade over the standard gyms ones, and that's good enough for me.

Another great product from Dark Iron. Great construction and well crafted with the user in mind. Works easily and can wrap around any bar. Offers perfect comfort as a squat pad and as an leg pad for dead-lifting. Velcro holds strong, but can be easily undone. Wide enough for all shoulder types, but not so wide to be in the way of hand grips. This makes squatting a more comfortable exercise and the bar feels stable on my neck and shoulders. Good exterior and can easily be wiped down with a wet cloth to clean. The customer service is amazing at Dark Iron as well. I get emails all the time checking in to see if I am completely satisfied with my product and to see if there is anything else I need.

I’ve been using the Dark Iron Fitness Barbell Pad in my home gym for about a year, squatting at least twice a week, and honestly I can’t imagine training without it. The pad is thick with great cushioning, which makes squats and hip thrusts a lot more comfortable—no more pressure on the neck or hips. It’s held up really well over regular use, and it’s become one of those must-have pieces of equipment for me. Pros: - Extra-thick padding provides excellent comfort and support - Holds up well with frequent use (mine has lasted a full year so far) - Makes barbell movements noticeably more comfortable - Great value for the price Cons: - The Velcro doesn’t last very long—after a couple of months it barely sticks - That said, even the minimal Velcro grip is enough to keep it on the bar securely Overall, despite the Velcro issue, the pad is absolutely worth the money. I’d still recommend it to anyone building a home gym or doing regular squat or hip-thrust work.

I have and use the DIF belt and neck pad almost daily. Both are very well constructed and last. Neck pad is very comfortable and provides great comfort with back squats. Velcro grabs and holds and once put on the bar it stays put and doesn't roll around like the standard neck pads laying around at the gym. If you squat, you should have this in your gym bag ready to go...if you don't have this in your gym bag, than you better hit the add to cart button and get it on order. The belt is also very well constructed. Heavy duty buckle and stitching. Comfortable and provides confidence with heavy lifts that you have the back support. Very pleased with both of these products and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase any of their other offered products based on the quality of these two items of theirs.

I recently purchased this barbell pad in order to add the hip thrust to my exercise program. I wanted a commercial quality product that would last for years to come and the Dark Iron Fitness product fits that bill. It is top notch quality and offers a lifetime warranty. When properly fastened to my Olympic Bar it will not slide or freely rotate, but securely remain in place, despite the fact that my Olympic Bar does not have a center knurl. It offers firm, yet comfortable padding. I will work great for squats as well, for those who place the bar high up across their traps (high bar squats). I would not use it, if you, like me, do low bar squats, as the pad cause the shoulder angle to be extremely uncomfortable. FYI, in the high bar squat the bar is positioned to sit on the traps, in the low bar squat the bar is moved down to sit on the rear deltoids, right above the spine of the scapula.

I already had a barbell pad i purchased from another major brand competitor. The biggest issue with it was that it was a slip on pad that left a gap open. During exercises it tended to roll and would pop off of the barbell placing the bar on your shoulders with no padding. The Dark Iron barnell pad will not come off during use. It has a sturdy Velcro strap along the entire length of the pad. It fits tightly around the olympic bar and has plenty of padding for a comfortable lift (about an inch thick). After use, it did not seem to leave impressions in the padding from where i had pressure on it. It returned to normal form (this is with squating 185lbs). Stitching looks good and it looks to be a great pad for the price. Definitely recommended!
