Great Product
Update: 9/29/26 These trees are still thriving outside, as winter approaches I will be burying these in the ground to prevent the roots freezing and allowing it to go dormant in winter. I'm confident these trees will continue their journey through next year and beyond. Received this package in late June. The cuttings were wrapped in a paper towel that was damp, and the cuttings were not dried out. I was provided with two smaller cuttings and one very thick cutting. Followed the instructions provided and did some self-research. Put each cutting in water in their own size-appropriate mason jar, and they all started growing roots and new shoots. The largest has already been moved outside and appears to have handled the transition well and is established outdoors and thriving. I have it set up in a mesh lined pond basket filled with a 50/50 mix of bonsai soil and potting mix (no fertilizer) that sits in a water tray that is filled constantly with about an inch of water. This weeping willow seems to love it. I will wrap the two smaller ones together and get those outside this weekend and see if I can't get a "fused trunk" look out of both of those. Same setup for those. Regardless of what happens down the line, I feel like CZ Grain delivered the product I was expecting timely and it's great quality. Will be buying from them again.

Follow the instructions!!!!
Update:3/7/2022 this was gifted to 2 family members. Both contacted me the plants are now dead with a black fungus growing on them. No change in soil, followed instructions to a T, unhappy and weird it occurred at around the same time with two different households 45 minutes from each other…. Update: including pics of plants now almost 4 weeks later. All 3 stems are blooming!!! The bright light is the grow light I also bought on Amazon, it came recommended after I added the CZ bonsai tree to my shopping cart. I plan on posting pics when I can, but since these were gifted I will have to come back to this review to update. I got instructions on how to grow and followed them to the T. As soon as the stems came in I submerged them in a cup of water 2 inches deep. After watching CZ’s video I then bought a $14 grow light since I was to scared to put it by the window (I’m cheap and don’t like turning my heat on in winter so it gets cold and the plants were suppose to be in a warm environment). Can I just say the plants are blooming faster than what was stated on the video! They gave me extra stems and all of them are budding and have roots growing after 1 1/2 weeks! I am so happy I was actually able to gift a plant with some buds so it didn’t look like a stick in a cup lol

CZ Grain Bonsai Green Weeping Willow: The Drama Queen of Tiny Trees
Hold onto your tiny gardening hats, folks, because the CZ Grain Bonsai Green Weeping Willow Tree Cutting is about to bring some serious drama and flair to your bonsai collection. This thick trunk start is the diva of dwarf bonsai material, ready to steal the spotlight and transform your garden into a miniature theater of botanical elegance. First off, this cutting isn't just any bonsai starter – it’s like adopting a tiny, green superstar. The thick trunk gives it a sturdy, commanding presence, like the leading actor in a Shakespearean play. It’s almost as if you can hear it whispering, “To grow, or not to grow? That is the question.” Planting this little guy is a breeze. Just stick it in some premium bonsai soil (preferably the kind mentioned in our previous rave review), give it some love, water, and a dash of patience, and watch the magic unfold. It’s like having a front-row seat to the greatest botanical performance of all time. The best part? This weeping willow cutting grows with a graceful, drooping elegance that makes it look like it’s perpetually in the middle of a heartfelt soliloquy. Its delicate branches weep softly, adding a touch of sophistication and theatrical charm to your bonsai collection. Move over, Hamlet – there’s a new drama king in town. But don’t be fooled by its dramatic appearance; this bonsai is also surprisingly robust. It’s got the resilience of an action hero and the beauty of a prima ballerina. Just give it a good spot with some sunlight and regular watering, and it will reward you with a stunning display of bonsai brilliance. Bottom line: The CZ Grain Bonsai Green Weeping Willow Tree Cutting is the ultimate addition for anyone looking to add a touch of drama and elegance to their bonsai garden. With its thick trunk and graceful weeping branches, it’s a showstopper in the world of tiny trees. Just be prepared for standing ovations every time you walk by – this bonsai loves to steal the show!

READ/WATCH THE INSTRUCTIONS
I’ve ordered plants on Amazon before. They’ve always come in a generally okay box with the small potted plant. I honestly wasn’t really thinking about how this plant was going to be shipped until the morning of the expected delivery date. That morning of, I thought, “How is a fragile plant like what’s pictured supposed to be sent?!” Then it was delivered. I thought someone else sent me something. SPOILER: they didn’t. I opened a very small manila envelope-esque package, not thinking it was gonna be this order. When I opened the package, I pull out a piece of tree with two smaller pieces of tree wrapped in a wet paper towel and rubber band that was in a clear plastic wrap. At first I was like, “Uh oh… I did I just get bamboozled?!?” I started reading the instructions which also has a QR code. I scanned the QR code and it led me to an instructional video that told me how to care for this plant. The person in the video said that the bottoms of the small pieces of tree (lol) that you get have to be submerged in 2 inches of water in a small pot for 2 to 3 weeks. They mentioned that it doesn’t necessarily have to be 2 weeks, but you’ll start to see roots sprouting, and then you can take what’s in the water and put it in the soil that they recommend. I’ve only had my plant for about five days and I can already see roots growing so things are looking great. I’m looking forward to seeing how much it grows and how beautiful it’s gonna be. I will say, though, in the person’s video, they showed what their plant looked like only after a couple of months and GIRL… she looks like a whole TREE. its BIG. and I have a studio apartment!! So we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. It’ll be fine. We’re fine. That’s on me for not researching how big it can get. I’d say this is definitely an option if you have a bigger apartment, a house maybe with high ceilings; you definitely need a lot of light ideally warm light. Otherwise, if you have an outdoor greenhouse or want to try planting it outside of your house if you live in a warmer climate, just read the instructions. Listen to the video and you’ll be fine. I haven’t gotten to this point yet, but REMINDER: buy the type of soil the person on the video recommends. I’m happy that I purchased. I’ll give it 5 stars for now, since it’s seemingly growing rooting well. But I’ll come back with updates if anything changes.

Started out okay
I got 3 sticks as described. I put them in water as stated in the instructions. Then planted them in a pot with natural soil. One of my sticks is growing beautifully! It has tons of leaves coming out of it. One of them barely has any leaves coming out of it. And the bigger stick is dying. I took it back out of the soil, and placed it back in the water. There are no roots on it sadly. I’m not sure if it will work. But kind of disappointed :/

I didn't this would work, but so far it is. Updated, I'm impressed.
When I received the package, I was a little freaked out, but I accepted the challenge. I am keeping them banded together for support, but after 3 solid days, roots and buds are growing. That's impressive. Now I just need more roots, hopefully on all 3 pieces, so I will feel comfortable planting it. Updated photos on 4/13. This is how much it has grown since I put in water on 3/29. I expect to be planting them once I get the right pots in the next few days. Updated on 5/14/2023, I planted them today and uploaded new photos. It took so long because I was picky with my pots and soil. The roots grew out of the bottom 1+ inch of the bottom of the cutting on all 3 and I planted all 3. I'm excited to see what they do next.

Great for beginners. I started with the three, now I've got dozens
I bought these willow shoots four years ago, and they're one of the best things I've bought on Amazon. I'm reviewing this item now because in the years since I received the three shoots, I've not only got the biggest of the original three trees, but also several dozen more trees growing from cuttings. I was able to grow the originals (lost one, unfortunately) but I've also been able to propagate many cuttings as the trees grow. Because I'm trying to promote thick trunk growth, I prune the fastest growing branches pretty regularly. When I prune branches I save the cuttings for new trees. I scrape the bark at the base of the cutting, and dip it into root hormone powder. Then, just like the originals, I let them soak in water until their roots start to grow, which they inevitably do. When the roots have grown healthy enough, I pot the cuttings and keep them fertilized. These are hearty trees. It's spring, and I'm propagating a new batch of cuttings. I would say that if you're interested in growing trees in a bonsai style, and you don't consider yourself a master gardener, this is a very good tree to start with. The attached photos show the "mama" where you can see the cut on the original shoot, but also the "kids" that are thriving from cuttings, as well as the latest "babies" developing their roots in water.

Easy to care for and nice to look at.
Bought these mostly for my sister for her birthday but also got some for myself. My sister's didn't last long, I don't recommend these unless you regularly care for plants and are consistent. These do ok with grow lights but as soon as the weather is right, these should be out side. You can definitely get significant growth with natural sun light. Word of warning, make sure they only spend half the day, maybe less, in full sunlight. I have attached pictures that show the results of a week of full sun and being watered once ever morning only. Went camping and couldn't do anything for them. Alternatively, if you're present to care for them, you might be able to get away with full sun with a small additional watering each day and regular misting. The only complaints I have are that the leaves eventually stare curling, not sure if it's over or under watering. And in one of the attached pictures you can see that something is happening to the top ends of two of my bonsai, not sure what's causing it. As I have ruined them by leaving them in the sun for a week, I will be buying again. I gave it 4 stars for the unexplainable rotting/dying ends.
