Frequently asked questions

The Satsuki Azalea Bonsai needs to be watered when the top soil feels dry to the touch. During hotter months, this may mean daily watering, while in cooler months, watering frequency will decrease. Always ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent root rot.

The Satsuki Azalea Bonsai is an outdoor bonsai. It thrives in conditions where it can receive ample sunlight, preferably morning sunlight with some afternoon shade. It should be protected from extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.

The Satsuki Azalea Bonsai typically blooms in late spring to early summer. Blooms can last several weeks. To encourage flowering, provide adequate sunlight, water, and nutrients, and prune appropriately after the blooming season.

Fertilize the Satsuki Azalea Bonsai with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer formulated for azaleas or bonsais. Start fertilizing in early spring and continue through late summer, reducing frequency as the season progresses. Avoid fertilizing when the tree is flowering.

Top Amazon Reviews

πŸš€ Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The reviewed bonsai plants present a mixed reception among customers, featuring both appreciation for their initial beauty and health as well as frustration with durability and initial conditions. The plants, frequently praised for arriving in good condition and looking vibrant at first, seem to have a mixed success rate in terms of long-term viability, with some thriving under careful attention while others deteriorate rapidly despite efforts to maintain them.

Pros

  • 🌱 Often arrives in good condition, well-packaged to prevent damage during shipping.
  • 🌿 Some customers report the plants being beautiful and healthy upon arrival.
  • πŸ’ Customers pleased with the purchase consider ordering again, citing the initial quality of the bonsai.
  • πŸ“¦ Effective packaging strategies noted by some, including protective cellophane and secure shipping materials.

Cons

  • πŸ‚ Issues with longevity and health of the plant, with some dying shortly after arrival despite care.
  • πŸ“ Discrepancy in advertised versus actual size of the plant, with some receiving smaller bonsais.
  • πŸ›‘ Broken branches and damaged plants reported, despite packaging efforts.
  • πŸ” Some plants arrived with dry soil and dead leaves, indicating possible issues with the shipping method.

Should I Buy It?

Considering the mixed reviews, the purchase of these bonsai plants might be somewhat of a gamble. If you're experienced with plant care or willing to take the risk for a potentially beautiful bonsai, it could be worth it. However, if you're looking for guaranteed long-term viability and minimal initial care, you might want to explore other options.

  • Arrived safely and so far looks to be growing
Size: SMALL Style: CERAMIC POT
My plant arrived safely. The plant was wrapped nicely so that dirt did not fly everywhere in the box. I've had the plant for a week now and it looks to be growing. A few leaves have already dropped but I think the plant is trying to adjust to it's new surroundings. I have the plant indoors next to my south-facing window. It gets a little bit of light in the morning and then gets the sunshine from the afternoon sun. It is next to my router so hopefully it won't dry out from the air emitting from the router's vent. I placed a plate with rocks and water underneath it to keep the area humid. I've been watering it every day since it is summer and letting the water run out the holes in the bottom. Since it sits on my work desk, I can investigate it each day to make sure it's not dying or drying out. I see it has 2 buds that have not opened. I'll update again in a month to see if the buds actually flower. Update a month or so later: I updated another picture of the bonsai, a side by side view of when I first got it to now. I have to preface that I am watering the plant almost every day or every other day if I see the humidity plate is low on water. It is summer so the house does get warm and my plant is next to the router on my work desk. Also, I have been collecting the fallen leaves to show the amount of leaves I'm losing. Despite the amount of leaves im losing, I do see that the leaves are growing bigger on my plant. So I think the fallen leaves are just from my plant adjusting to the environment. This is a tree and trees do drop leaves occasionally. My tree does look sparser than the original so I'm not sure if I'm trending in the right direction. But still it does not look bad. Ill leave my rating at 5 stars for now. My plant still looks healthy. Also the buds I had originally have not bloomed. Hoping it's just going through a blooming cycle and won't just die off. ... show more

  • Plant did not live very long
Size: SMALL Style: CERAMIC POT
Plant died very quickly, maybe a week or 2. I checked water, moved to different light, called the company and asked them, they said put it outside and that finished it off.

  • Beautiful, but large broken branches.
Size: LARGE Style: Ceramic Pot
This item would have received a 5 star rating g but it was quite damaged. Several larger branches were snapped and broken, loose in the box. A gorgeous azalea, though. It will take some time to fill in the large gap the missing branches caused. It is very healthy and quite nice.

  • Would purchase from again
Size: SMALL Style: CERAMIC POT
Bonsai came shipped in a very protective way. The pot was saran wrapped to a foam base and there was not way it was moving around. The tree is bigger than expected and in beautiful condition.

  • Don't buy!
Size: SMALL Style: CERAMIC POT
This plant started dying the first week it arrived. It did not matter how much I watered it it was not going to come alive. I decided to look at the roots to see if that was the problem. I couldn't even pull the plant out (notice the picture above). Since when do they ever wire a tree to its pot? They might secure it in there temporarily, but never with hard wire. Notice the other picture, the wires go through the root system. They must have hurt the roots while securing it in this pot. That's why ...they killed it before it even got to me! After finally untwisting the wires, I pulled the dead tree out and you could tell by the root system that they killed it! I tried writing them a letter but never heard back from them. Also, the picture shows a turquoise pot. The pot is green. Extremely disappointed! ... show more
