Four teenagers are always difficult to find gifts for at Christmas. I have to say this was probably their favorite gift and they received many. Each one was drawing within minutes after opening the gift I would highly recommend it for anyone who has teenagers, and cannot figure out what they would like. We purchased this set in hopes of finding an easy travel kit for our kids to use when we go on vacation (though I had to give them a whirl too), and our expectations were happily exceeded! The kit has a solid breadth of color options in its classic colored pencils, as well as metallic and watercolor variations. It also has a nice, wide selection of drawing pencils spanning 8B all the way to 5H, along with blending stumps of various sizes, gum and rubber erasers and several brushes for the watercolor pencils. I haven't tried the sketch pencils yet, but the colored pencils impressed me with their softness and rich color, unlike some other hard-pigment colored pencils I've used which practically etched into the paper rather than laying down smooth color. It was very easy to blend the colors even without the blending stumps, and I'm looking forward to giving the watercolor pencils a go in the future (initial testing felt pretty good though!). Overall, the quality far surpassed our expectations for its price, and the case containing it all is slim enough to pack for road trips (it might be a tad long to bring on a plane though).

I've definitely seen better but for the sale price of $15 they were worth it. I purchased 2 I wouldn't say for beginners, I hate it when people ruin stuff for people by saying that. It's good for kids and that's it!

I haven't used this as it's a gift for my nephew but on receipt it looks of good quality with a wide variety of supplies for a beginner to try at a good price.

I have not personally used the art set, but this was gifted and my Littles open in front of me. For the price its actually really nice. The case smelled a little funny (not stinky) but overall it is sturdy.
