Description

A CURT front trailer hitch allows you to use the front end of your vehicle for a variety of towing applications. They can be used for mounting a winch, a snow plow, a number of towing accessories and can even be used for some trailering applications. When space is limited, a front trailer hitch is commonly used to hold a cargo carrier, freeing up space inside the vehicle for extra cargo and making the rear mount receiver available to pull a trailer. At the boat ramp, your boat trailer can be hitched up to the front receiver hitch, giving you better control over the trailer as you launch. Some of the other accessories that can be used with a front tow hitch are the CURT winch mount, step pad, license plate holder, spare tire mount, skid shield and tow hooks. All CURT front trailer hitches provide a useful receiver tube to accept a 2" x 2" shank, and they are commonly used on trucks, vans and SUVs. This front trailer hitch is rated for 5,000 lbs. GTW and 500 lbs. TW. It also has a straight-line pull rating of 9,000 lbs. It is designed to be a custom trailer hitch for certain years of the Ford Expedition, Ford F150 and Lincoln Mark LT (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary hardware for a complete installation and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

  • Great fit on '08 F150
Worked great on front of '08 F150 and very easy to install. If you plan to use this for a homeowner plow that employs a turnbuckle brace on either side of the receiver tube it may not be the best choice. On this hitch the receiver tube is welded BELOW the main hitch cross bar (which makes it appear more "hidden") and the braces will have nothing to contact (without welding). Still, a great front hitch in general! ... show more

  • Awesome product! Simple. Perfect.
This thing is overkill and an awesome product! Took me 5 mins to put it on with the supplied bolt fish wires. Simple and straight forward as anything installed on your truck can be. Perfect clearance for my hitch mounted winch. -within 1/8th of an inch for me. Couldn't be more impressed.

  • Bolts right in
It's solidly made and is a simple bolt on installation that reuses the truck's exiting tow hooks and bolts. Be advised that it's probably easier if you have a helper and if you jack the vehicle up a bit for elbow room. Tip: feed the rearmost carriage bolt and plate through the front of the frame together fishing it out the appropriate hole. Using a jack or a helper to hold the receiver in place would have made it easier. I plan to add a grill guard tot he truck, so I'm not sure what I will have to do to make the combination work, possibly longer bolts and a spacer or something. I'm using it to mount a winch ... show more

  • Top Quality - Easy to install
The quality of the Fit & Finish was excellent, Took about 15 minutes to install, The FishWire that came withit was wone of the most useful specific purpose tools I have ever had. Insert the coil up from the bottom, drop a waher doen it from the top, thread one of the bolts on the coil and slip it right down into mounting position. Repeat this process for the other 5 bolts and then gently jack (or manhandle) the hitch up over the protruding bolts, start the middle 2 nuts first to a loose fit then put the other 4 nuts on , make sure the hitch is center and tighten it alll up and your done, You can trime the little bit of interference with the plastic Vaalance panel once it is tight with either a saw , dremel or hot knife for a perfect fit. Although, I am sure the Manufacture woould probally not scantion it -you could reverse it and mount it above the frame with a shim plate made from 1/4" steel and it would be a totally hidden mount that does not reduce your ground clearance any, ... show more

  • Great hitch, but poor installation instructions
The directions say that it can be installed in 30 minutes. It took me 30 minutes. However, I am much, much more mechanically inclined than your average buyer. I can see some buyers being very frustrated with the installation directions. They are so generic that it's almost comical. I installed this on a 2005 Ford F150 STX. I have the lower plastic wind valance under the front bumper. This hitch just cleared it, so no cutting necessary (instructions say that trimming is necessary). Instructions talk about torque values for 12mm/1/2" bolts, but my original bolts were 13mm, and the additional bolts supplied are 15mm. Because the kit is designed for fit a variety of models, there may be extra nuts, bolts, and backing plates in your particular installation. Installation was very simple up to a point. Remove the tow hooks (4 bolts, easy). After that, the comically poor installation instructions fail to make the job easy. But, here is how it's really done: Position the hitch to replace the back bolt (I used a trolley jack to snug the hitch up and put it in the right place). Screw the bolt half way in. Put the tow hook back on (slips over the installed bolt). Install the front bolt, leaving both bolts loose. Do the other side the same way. Taking the "fish wire", screw one of the supplied-with-the-kit bolts onto the spring end. Drop one of the supplied backing plates onto the fish wire from the non-spring end. Feed the non-spring end of the fish wire through the access hole on the frame down through the hole at the bottom of the frame and through the hitch frame. Pull the fish wire through. You'll end up with the threads facing down, as shown in the installation diagram. Unscrew the fish wire from the bolt. Thread on the supplied bolt. Do the other side the same way. Tighten all 4 bolts and 2 nuts to the proper torque value. You're done. I've given this 4 stars because of the poor instructions. The actual hitch itself is very well made, with clean welds and a flawless finish. ... show more

  • Will not line up, two holes in the back won’t even work.
Installs crooked at best. Back two holes won’t work AND you will have to drill/grind your frame just to use their hardware. 2005 Ford Expedition.

  • Hitch
Order for 04 expedition 4×4 for front mount, easy to install came with the assembly bolts. Bad part is hitch mount has three holes for install and on expedition has two where tow hooks are at, had to drill extra hole for the third bolt for hitch to hold three bolts to expedition front end. Overall easy install and works just as intended for. ... show more
