While I wish filters overall cost a bit less, this filter seems to be a fair price and performs the best. So certainly the best bang for the buck. I've tried other filters and brands, but this does the best of them all for my Whirlpool fridge. It improved the taste of my water removing whatever was there before. It tastes nearly as good as RO/bottled water if not better in some cases. Obviously water quality depends on your source and location, so your mileage may vary. As a side note, it fixed my ice maker PSI and it started making ice consistently. Which I suppose speaks to the quality of the filter as well. It filters well while not terribly restricting water flow. I'll be buying more in the future. If it goes on sale, I'm stocking up. ... show more

I got this to replace our refrigerator water filter. I wanted this as it's made to reduce lead which is very important, along with other chemicals and taste improvement. This is a different size than the original, so they include a bracket. Fortunately the instructions are good with photos, still I had to work at it and really felt it was not going to work. But I followed the instructions and the bracket settled into the correct position after performing the "close the door and reopen" step. Then the filter just pushed in easily. When I ran about 8 large glasses of water, it spurted out some air on the first one or second one, which is just the filter getting filled with water and pushing it's air out.
