So we got ours since 2021... it's amazing! I do not know why there are comments about the pot peeling, it had not peeled at all for us. Dry the bottom before you put your pot back in to cook & it'll stay clean. We've had ours for family gatherings & all so it's used up & on the daily basically. I love how you can adjust temperature to keep food warm & the many cooking options! My kiddos love the sounds it makes & we have had so many great use out of ours! Worth every penny. ... show more

Read the manual. Some settings like regular rice you need to enter the sub folder. Yes there is a smell at first. I washed all parts and put it through 2-20 min. sanitizer cycles and the smell was gone. So far it has made perfect rice - sushi, jasmine, and regular. Baked a small cake on oven setting and came out great. Seared a steak and caramelized onions. Now to see longevity. I do have another name brand pressure cooker however I actually like the Cuckoo better. The steam releases more safely when pressure is released. Also tells you if the lid is not locked, even off just a little.Right size for 2-4 people. Update: 2.5 years since I bought it. I still love my cuckoo however the display is on the blitz. Voice part still works so I can still use it. Amount of usage during the time I had it about 3x a week. ... show more

If you care about the quality of rice you eat, plus you prefer to eat healthy brown gaba rice thus machine is essential. We also own the zojirushi rice cooker. I wanted to love this pressure cooker but you must know the timer starts the second you push start. Unless you are an engineer or time traveler the amount of checking and changing time was the #1 reason for return. Remember… the quantity of food cooked changes how long it takes to get to pressure. So there is no way to get the same results each time, cold start, hot start, little recipes, large recipes… way too much math and unpredictability. I got this pressure cooker mostly because I wanted something I trusted to cook rice (this one has multiple rice settings and I wanted to replace my rice cooker), and also wanted to pressure cook beans, and I didn’t want something ugly like the instapot. It’s hard to suss out from the written materials how it compares to the instapot as far as pressure level. I think it’s slightly less but not by much. (If you read the info on electric pressure cookers, they come up to a certain pressure but don’t stay at that highest level. So who knows the real pressure level.) So far, I really like the machine but if you want to adapt instapot recipes for this, you gotta get a sense for how long something will take to come to pressure. Unlike the instapot, the timer on this INCLUDES the time to come to pressure. So depending on what I’m making and its temp and water level, I end up estimating 10-20 mins to come to pressure. This matters because you set your own cook time on the multi cook function. Other settings work well, like “browning fry” aka sauté. Generally the rice function is good—white rice comes out perfect, gaba rice is ok (a little sticky. I need to experiment). I use the multi cook for beans, max temp/pressure, works just fine. Not sure what cleaning is like for instapot. This is a bit of a pain with the gasket and all. It does have a self cleaning feature, but of course I remove and clean the inner lid and gasket by hand each time I use it. And don’t even think about putting a metal spoon in this or you’ll scratch the coating—use the spatula/rice paddle they provide. I hope this helps someone decide if they want the machine or not. :-) ... show more

Pros; Love that it’s so easy to clean and talks to you Multiple uses. I made Barbacoa, sweet corn, and cilantro rice for a copycat chipotle meal. Worked outed great! Cons: You have you press the cancel And start buttons with a little pressure to operate and there is no on/off switch. You have to unplug it to shut it off Overall I love it ... show more
