After reviewing many different nugget machine options, I settled on this unit. They all appear to fail within a year, so the price of this unit seemed proper to hopefully get a year of usage. Within 30 minutes of starting the unit up, you have plenty of ice. So I start it early in the morning and within an hour, I have ice for 5 people before heading off for school and work. We mainly keep this unit plugged in and running all the time. There is an automatic shutoff when the unit is full and will restart when the lid is opened or closed. Cleaning is very easy. Every week I move the unit to my kitchen sink and run a wash of slightly soapy water. Then I rinse it out and run 2-3 more clean water cycles until there are no more suds. I don't stand over the unit while it is cleaning, I set it and every time that I pass it I clean it so it does not take me much time. ... show more

    • Best Quality, Soft Nugget Ice, Just Like the Drive Through Chains!
If you are looking for the best quality, soft, chewable nugget ice (some other nugget icemakers are too hard), this is the machine to get. I cannot tell the difference between this nugget ice and the fast food chains that feature nugget ice from industrial ice makers. On top of that, I had one issue that came up @ 50 weeks into the 12 month warranty period. I emailed their support email, and their support team responded the same day (on a Sunday!). I sent them the requested video clip of the problem the next day, and by the third day we already had a resolution. I would not hesitate to buy again based on my experience. To have a good experience, you need to take care of it, descale, descale, descale, it will prompt you at least weekly to clean it, and make sure you don't ignore it! If you hear it squealing (and you will) you need to run a descaling cleaning cycle. It's like a car, if you don't change the oil, don't be surprised if the engine fails. ... show more

Love that we a constant supply of ice and the fridge is not running of ice. Recommendation is to buy a large water filter pitcher to supply water. Customer service is extremely responsive to inquiries. Would recommend to large families.

Yet another update: CROWNFULL received the returned ice maker Sept. 1st. And we’ve had to buy another icemaker with money we do not really have. We chose another like this icemaker again. Taking a chance that the leak in The first one was a fluke. Previous update: shipped - went to UPS to return it on Tuesday and haven’t heard anything else about it. Maybe Amazon spoiled me with their speed of getting 95% of their items so quickly. Plus a refund in 7-10 days when they get it. Ok but we need another icemaker. I’m buying ice from Sonic because I don’t have room in my freezer for anything that makes ice (hence the counter top icemaker) I’m not angry just disappointed. I still would. Buy this icemaker again, but I’d make sure I had filtered water going in. I would. Also love to know exactly where the leak is. Update on this: the machine was sent back as of yesterday. Amazon and CROWNFULL have done a great job helping me. I would make a suggestion though: Make it easier to clean. It had begun to be somewhat of a challenge to keep the water/ice reservoir clean. My guess is it wasn’t filtering as well as it used to. This machine came with a hose to hook up to the water source. Maybe make an optional filter to go with that and instructions on how to hook all this up? Our machine didn’t have an instruction manual so not sure where to hook the hose. So my next ice machine I will buy the descale liquid or a filter if the icemaker allows it. {{{*previous rating and comment: Loved the ice maker as good if not better than Sonic ice, but now it’s leaking underneath the machine.     • Works great until it doesn’t
Bought the ice maker for my wife in March of 2022. Unfortunately I didn’t buy the extended warranty. It worked great until this weekend when it completely quit working. For over $400 it should have made it more than 15 months. Update 7/29 After leaving my review CS for Crownwell reached out and is making it right even with it being slightly out of warranty. Again we loved the product and the ice machine and production was great were just disappointed in its longevity. Appreciate them standing behind the product and reaching out in this age of people not backing up what they sell. Update ... show more
