My aging eyes need all the light they can get. The ability to adjust the brightness and to go from warm white to bright white makes this lamp the most versatile and effective lamp I have had. This is mostly next to my sewing machine - first time I have been able to sew after dark in many years. I have also moved it next to my living room chair on occasion when working on cross stitch or embroidery. It is a little heavy, but that makes it sturdy. I bought a 2nd one for next to my husband's chair - he has macular degeneration and was having trouble reading. If you're on the fence, jump off and order this lamp! ... show more

I saw this lamp while shopping for a magnifying lamp and detoured to the bemelux store to see what else they had. It's sleekness caught my eye first. As I examined it, there was a whole lot of stylin' in this lamp that I liked. So, whether conveniently constructed or out of true necessity, I immediately saw a use for this lamp. I love it. I like looking at it. I like the way it move, it somehow reminds me of a fairy floating along. And I absolutory love its balance and its floating arm, which contributes much to what gives me it me a fairy-like resemblance. The main arm is a perfectly sized tube, at the end of which is the lamp. The other half of the parallelogram is sleek, polished steel that really adds to the other minimalistic design cues. The springs are completely enclosed and you wouldn't know they are there if you didn't know how this type of lamp works. As for it's main function, 1200 lux is plenty for reading and I find myself using one of the warm setting. When using it for my hobbies, I was always intended as a lamp in addition to a desk lame, and for that it does perfectly. However, and this is the only drawback I see, it would need to double it's brightness to perform solo as a hobby lamp. It's a welcome addition to my home and I think it would fit any environment, whether traditional or what have you. I just like looking at it. LOL... Nice that it performs so very well. ... show more

I hardly ever write reviews but after reading the other reviews for this lamp I just had to put in my two cents. I love this light! I found it very easy to put together (I'm a 67 year old woman) push the poles together and that's it. The base is very heavy and the light swivels any way you want. Love that you can change the temp of the lights and make it as bright as you like. I also have an ott light which I like but this new one is brighter and adjustable. It is pricy but I find it well worth the money and use it daily. ... show more

    • Stupid design, not worth the money...

I got this because I wanted a high quality desk lamp that could cleverly swivel. First thing was, that the lamp was broken when I got it. So it did not survive the transport. But I did not notice it, because of the fancy swivel it had. So I mounted the base to the lamp and then looked at it and cables were showing, which meant something was wrong. So I saw that it was broken on the hinge and only the internal cables were holding it together. So I thought I would send it back for a replacement. Then I tried to figure out how to take the base off. This is where I got mad... it does not come off. I went onto their website and only there do I read, that once the base is on, you cannot take it off again. WHAT THE HECK?!?! Who designs a mount that once, clicked in, never comes apart? So this lamp is an expensive piece of crap that didn't fit back into the box it shipped with. It cost me 20 bucks at USPS to ship it back, although it was free shipping. Then they have a restocking fee for returns! This is a first on a product bought through Amazon. So I did not even get back all my money. Honestly, this was the worst experience shopping on Amazon yet... and I buy a lot through Amazon. If I could I would give zero Stars ... show more
