  • Update on False advertising?
The Halot Mage S 14K resin printer seems to be an awesome printer. I absolutely love it so far. My reason for a poor review is, it is appearing that Creality posted a false adverisement on Amazon. Creality claimes in thier posting for this printer that it comes with a 1 year subscription to Creality Cloud. But when I tried to claim it, they told me, no, it didn't come with the subscription. Been trying to resolve this with Creality, but, so far, no luck. If this gets resolved I will change my rating, as I really do like the printer. It is with regret that I post this update. After going back and forth with Creality's support people, Creality refuses to stand behind their ad promise. One must consider not only the product itself, but the companies reputation. Creality's refusal to honor their ad has lowered their standing in my eyes. Because of this I must lower my review to 1 star from what surely would have been a 5 star review. When considering purchasing a Creality product, please read their ad(s) and examine their claims and offerings to see if it is accurate. That is all I can ask. A second update. I am changing my review to a 5 star, as Creality has made good on their ad. It took several emails to get straightened out, but they have made good. I never had a problem with the Halot printer. And now that the problem I had has been resolved satisfactorly, I am raising my review to reflect this, and because IO truly love this printer. ... show more

  • Bad acreens
Screen started spotted after 6 months. Just enough out of warranty for the screen. The screens cost almost as much as a new printer.

  • Could have been great...but it's not.
Ok, so first things first -- I own a TON of Creality stuff. I have 6 of the original Halot Mages (std) and I bought 6 more of the Mage S 14Ks, since the old workhorse Mage did it's job great for the price point. I figured they would have learned their lessons from some of the design issues of the Mage and correct them in the S...Unfortunately, I feel Creality has missed the mark. The first issue I have is the amount of extra steps you have to go through to print. Onboard storage is great - but you still have to sneakernet your print to the machine if you aren't using their cloud based print (more on that later). No biggie - just plug in the USB stick and let it copy over. Wellll... then you have to wait for it to verify, which can take forever on one and near instant on another (for the same file+stick). When you finally get ready to print, you have to first go through the UI and confirm print settings and *then* print. It's an added layer of hassle that shouldn't be the default. Now the next issue I have is with their firmware basically forcing you to 8mm/s minimum speed on the lift. Yes, this is the "fast" printer and it can absolutely yank prints off the fep with ease at >10mm/s all day long... if you have the right reason. The normal non-rapid stuff simply does not like being yanked, even with the cushion setting. So by the time you factor in the additional motion to settle/bloom eliminate and all that jazz, you are right back to a relatively slow print speed. Next, we have the cloud. It's... kind of a mess honestly. I personally don't like it, but you can absolutely use 3rd party tools to push the print job via cloud and down to the box w/o having to use their full blown UI. Again, added layer of hassle when others do it so much better (seriously... can I not have a direct wifi push? It's 2025 guys...). And now let's talk about the FEP. This thing sucks. It's the same vat as the Mage/Mage Pro but it has the high speed FEP installed. Is this better than standard? Eh.. I don't think so, and again -- outside of rapid prototyping you don't really need to worry about the extreme lift release film. Especially when it *leaks*. Yes boys and girls - leaks. I've had 2 different vats develop the same issue, each of which only has maybe 7hrs of total print time on them. Slow prints, non-aggressive std resin... and it punched right through on the edges. This is the same issue the Mage had, which I had hoped they would resolve. You can swap fep's and be good to go...but again, hassle for something that is north of 500$ entry is just uncalled for. And finally, we've got the buggy firmware. I have a machine that will boot up and start the print, only to crash and reboot the moment it reaches a 0 Z-height. Creality customer service continues to give me the run around, which is a shame. The quality of their support has dropped a TON over the past few years. So... would I do it again? No. Looking back at all my issues over the past several years with Creality, I'm officially done with the brand. It sucks, because they used to be pretty good... but such is the way of things. Phrozen and Elegoo have been *drop dead reliable* for me across 15+ printers, so if you are thinking about getting into the hobby I highly recommend checking out what they offer. You may pay a bit more, but honestly... the first time you slam into stupid problems with these (like I dunno... failed LCD after only a month's use) you begin to question your decision. TL;DR: PRO: Can do rapid prototyping and churn out good looking 14K prints (but honestly, no real difference for 95% of humans on 8k vs 14K). Price point is decent for the 14K ability. CON: Questionable build quality/lifespan of parts, annoying cloud and vats that have fep failures (and aren't designed to pour very well. Seriously, is it that hard to add a nice lip to the edge that doesn't just spill all over itself?) ... show more

  • Broke after a couple months of prints
Bought this a few months ago and the LCD failed. The only tech support and warranty claim is in China so it takes days to get a response... They did send a new LCD screen out, but that did not work as well... My printer has been down almost a month with no end in sight. I'm ready to throw it out, take the loss and go to a more reliable printer with a company you can actually talk to a person if you have a problem. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! ... show more
