  • A Great Desktop Laser for Makers Who Don’t Want Another Tinkering Project
I already spend enough time tinkering with 3D printers that I did not particularly want another machine where half the hobby is leveling, measuring, aligning, and generally convincing it to do what I asked. The Falcon A1C strips away a lot of that friction. Creality has taken a lot of the fiddly setup normally associated with desktop laser engravers and wrapped it into a compact enclosed machine with autofocus, camera-based positioning, and software that gets me from an idea to an actual engraving without turning every project into an afternoon of calibration. The built-in camera and autofocus are probably the two features I appreciate most in day-to-day use. Instead of measuring a workpiece, guessing where the design will land, running a framing pass, moving it slightly, and repeating the process, I can see the material in Falcon Design Space and position the artwork visually. That is especially useful when engraving something where placement actually matters, like a coaster, leather patch, sign, or existing object that I do not want to ruin. Autofocus takes another repetitive step out of the process by adjusting for different material thicknesses. I still need to understand power, speed, and how a particular material reacts to the laser, but Creality has eliminated a lot of the boring setup work surrounding those decisions. The included 10W diode feels like the right match for a machine this size. It has plenty of power for detailed engraving and useful cutting work on wood, leather, cardboard, fabric, and compatible acrylic, and fine lines come out crisp once the settings are dialed in. The 15,000 mm/min maximum speed sounds impressive, but I care much more about the fact that the frame remains stable and the results stay clean at practical engraving speeds. There is also quite a bit of room to grow because the laser modules are designed to swap in seconds. The 5W and 1.2W infrared heads are sold separately, but being able to change modules rather than buy another entire engraver makes the platform much more versatile, particularly if I eventually want to work with selected metals or plastics. I would still take the “300+ materials” claim as a statement about the platform's range rather than an invitation to laser whatever happens to be lying around. Some materials should never be laser processed because of the fumes they can produce, so unfamiliar plastics in particular are something I would check before experimenting with. Falcon Design Space (the accompanying software) ties everything together nicely. The camera view, visual positioning, autofocus, material library, image tools, and machine controls all live within the same workflow. There are AI image-generation features as well, but those are honestly secondary for me. I care much more about being able to drop in a design, line it up visually, select appropriate settings, and start the job without bouncing between a bunch of unrelated software. The fully enclosed Class 1 design makes the whole thing feel much more appropriate for a home workspace too. Creality adds flame detection, tilt protection, and a USB safety lock, which gives me considerably more confidence than I would have sitting next to an exposed open-frame laser. I still treat it like a machine deliberately applying concentrated heat to potentially combustible material, and the enclosure does not eliminate the need to deal properly with smoke and fumes, but the built-in protections make everyday use much more comfortable. The compact design helps because I do not necessarily want a laser engraver permanently claiming half of my workbench. The A1C is small and light enough that I can move it when needed, yet the enclosed frame still feels rigid and substantial rather than like portability came at the expense of stability. That combination matters more to me than shaving a few extra seconds off a job. A machine like this is much more useful when I can actually bring it out for a small project without rearranging the entire room first. At $300ish for the 10W version, I think the value is very good when I look at the complete package rather than just comparing laser wattage. There are cheaper open-frame engravers, and there are much larger machines with substantially more cutting power, but the A1C is selling convenience and integration as much as raw output. The camera, autofocus, enclosure, safety systems, polished software, and quick-swap laser modules remove a lot of the friction that normally comes with this hobby. If I needed to cut thick material all day, I would be shopping for a very different machine. For engraving, light cutting, personalization projects, and general maker work, though, this hits a really nice sweet spot. I can go from an idea to a properly positioned and focused engraving quickly, and if my projects become more ambitious later, I have some room to expand instead of immediately replacing the whole machine. ... show more

  • Worth the money.
Color: Purple Gray
The laser has surpassed my expectations, but the software from Creality is challenging. It took me two days, plus multiple YouTube videos to make this from my photos.

  • Easy setup and a good laser engraver for small spaces
I think this is probably the most user‑friendly laser engraver I’ve used so far. I have a ton of experience with 3D printers, but I’m still pretty new to laser engraving, and there really wasn’t much of a learning curve with this one. It felt very plug‑and‑play. I just plugged in the USB key, connected the exhaust hose, went through the quick software setup, and I was already engraving my first project. One small hiccup I ran into was with the Wi‑Fi setup. It wanted me to connect it with a USB cable first, even though I had already gone through the mobile Wi‑Fi setup. The PC I use for engraving is pretty far from the machine, so I had to bring it over to my desk, and it’s fairly heavy. Slight frustration, but not a huge deal. One of the nicest things about this engraver is that it’s fully enclosed and easy to vent with the included hose. The biggest obstacle for me getting into laser engraving was figuring out how to run a machine indoors without taking up a ton of space. I don’t have room for a big setup or a tent, and the Falcon A1C is small enough that it fits perfectly. The little fan does a decent job pushing air through the long hose and it’s really quiet, but the airflow feels a bit weak, so I run mine into a separate 4‑inch inline fan before venting it out a window. That’s been working well for me. Creality included three small pieces of thin plywood, and the 10W laser had no problem engraving and cutting through them. It doesn’t come with air assist, but it does include a cutting plate, which helped keep charring pretty minimal. I’ve also been engraving a bunch of slate coasters I picked up, and those came out beautifully using the Square Rock Coaster setting in the Falcon software at default values. The software is fine for basic projects, and I can see myself using it for most of mine, but it is pretty limited. I did get it connected with LightBurn, but it’s a little complicated because of the A1C’s autofocus, so you have to dig into the settings to get everything working right. That said, for someone getting into laser engraving for the first time, this is a great machine that’s very easy to use, and I’ve been getting some really nice results from it. ... show more

  • A Genuinely Easy to Set Up Laser That Delivers Clean Results on Metal
Been using this for a month now for a handful of projects, working with metal, and setup was refreshingly simple, unboxed and had it running without a complicated process to get through before the first engrave. Results on metal have come out clean, detail holding up well without burning or inconsistency across the pieces I have worked on so far. The smart camera has worked well for positioning, aligning a design before engraving has been accurate rather than requiring repeated trial runs just to get placement right. The enclosed design has been genuinely nice to look at, not just functional but a clean looking piece of equipment rather than an exposed frame sitting on a desk, which matters when it is staying out in a workspace people actually see. Currently spending time in the software exploring building out my own designs rather than sticking purely to premade files, and that side of things has been approachable enough to start experimenting with even as I am still getting familiar with everything it offers. For anyone getting into laser engraving on metal and wanting a machine that sets up easily and delivers solid results early on, this has been a strong start after a month of regular use. ... show more

  • Would have been better if it had the AI Camera option
As someone relatively new to laser engraving, I found setting up this machine surprisingly smooth, though somewhat daunting at times, until I watched a few helpful tutorials and got it calibrated on my PC. It seemed easy to use after connecting the exhaust hose through a window, plugging in the USB drive, and launching the software, which already has built-in material presets that save a ton of guesswork. You definitely need to run it in a well ventilated space or hook up an external air filter to manage the smoke from the laser and materials, but performance-wise, it has really impressed me. My only real complaint is that it would have been so much better if I had gotten the AI camera version, as having that visual preview would make positioning designs on tricky materials way faster and more precise. Overall, I thought that this 10W standard version with the white exterior seems like a nice value for personal DIY crafts without facing a steep learning curve, and I've had a blast trying out new projects. ... show more

  • Good Laser Engraver, Small Work Bed
The autofocus is a nice feature and makes getting started with a project easier. I also like the quick-swap laser module design, although I haven't had a reason to change modules yet. I haven't tried using it with LightBurn yet, so I can't comment on how well the two work together. I was actually expecting the Creality software to be fairly basic, but it has been better than I expected. It has some useful features that LightBurn doesn't offer, and I especially like the built-in material library. The biggest limitation for me right now is that there doesn't appear to be a rotary attachment available. That's something I would like to see offered for this machine. Overall, I'm impressed with the A1C so far. It engraves well, cuts 3 mm plywood with surprisingly little charring despite not having air assist, and the software has more features than I expected. The lack of a rotary option is disappointing, but otherwise this is a good laser engraver. ... show more

  • Solid laser engraver for small crafts
I picked up the Creality Falcon A1C to work on a few home projects like wood signs and leather patches. The enclosed design was a big reason I went with it since I wanted something safer for a small desktop area. Getting it set up took a little time, but the autofocus feature helps save a lot of effort when switching between different materials. The camera positioning feature makes aligning designs straightforward, so I have not wasted much test material. The 10W laser handles thin plywood, cardboard, and slate coasters nicely, producing clean lines without much fuss. The included software is fine for simple jobs, though it takes a moment to learn all the settings if you want to use third party tools instead. Venting the smoke out of a nearby window is necessary, but the included hose does a decent job keeping smells down. The build quality feels sturdy, and it does not take up too much room on my desk. It fits my needs well for casual crafting and small hobby projects. ... show more

  • Good little engraver once you get acquainted. Great price point.
Setup took me a little while, mostly because laser engravers are semi-new territory for me, so I watched videos and read up on best settings, etc. I got it working with my Mac, and it does need calibration after setup. Once running, it engraves very cleanly and cut through 3mm basswood without a problem. This isn't a mass production machine, but for smaller engraving projects it's impressive and a really good value. Definitely use it somewhere well ventilated or add a proper vent or air filtration system. The program has materials and thicknesses already dialed in, so you will save time by not having to figure out setting. Super fun machine. So many things I am going to engrave. ... show more
