  • Excellent Quality, Decent Build Volume and Great Value
I have been impressed with this unit since the day I purchased it. Got it a few days before the 2019 new year. Now that I have over 100 hours of printing on this, I would like to give it an honest review for potential buyers. Ok a few things that you need to be aware of when getting this awesome piece of machinery: 1st and foremost read the online version of the instruction manual or the one that comes installed on the packed in SDmicro card. 2. Check the tension on the build plate guide wheels and belt. You don't want them too tight or too loose. They will most likely need to be adjusted. There are many videos on YouTube that show what is a good sweet spot. 3. Once you have the gantry installed, check the belt tension wheel and guide wheel eccentric nuts on the X and Z axis. 4. Loosen the bed adjustment wheels slightly before Auto homing the printer. 5. Once you have the PTFE tube installed, and filament loaded, check the height of the extruder gear so that it is in full contact with filament. Make sure the set screw is torqued appropriately. Make sure the idler release clamp is as far back as it can go. You may need to check the Z axis guide screw. Ensure that it is fully secured in the Z stepper coupler. The set screws may be loosened. Also make sure the brass Z axis carrier nut screws are not over tightened (This is secured to the extruder stepper bracket by two Allen screws on either side of the Z guide rod). The two screws were too tight on my unit causing the Z motor to mis-step. 6. Regarding bed leveling; For me this is my 1st 3D printer. I learned right away that bed leveling can be much of an art as it is a science. I recommend learning via the printer paper method to get a feel for what is too tight. There are plenty of files on Thingiverse to indicate how level your bed is. Also there is no such thing as a perfectly flat piece of glass. The glass print surface on my printer had dead spots or slight warps in certain places. I highly recommend you have a couple pieces of mirror or glass custom cut for the bed. Try to keep the bed retaining clips as close the adjustment screws as possible. At this time, I don't thing the Ezable auto level upgrade is compatible with the CR-10 mini. This unit is not for everyone. You are going to have to tinker with this occasionally. If you don't enjoy troubleshooting and replacing components or making adjustments, this is not for you. However if you enjoy the "tinkerer" aspect, then for the price, this will be right up your alley. Once I got the hang of zeroing in the quality settings in Cura and bed leveling, this turned out some quality prints. I have printed a few scaled miniatures from Capsule Chibi at .06 mm layer height at AMAZING quality. The board game terrain I printed for Kingdom Death: Monster came out awesome at .1 mm layer height and .2 mm layer height for the bigger terrain pieces. I was AMAZED at how well it printed the CAT.gcode at .1 mm layer height. The smallest kanji were easily readable. Pros: Partially assembled HUGE following and support community Decent build volume for the price. ( 30 cm x 22cm x 30cm)Literally pennies per cubic centimeter of printed filament Reliable and consistent once everything has been zeroed in and properly adjusted. Heats up quickly and maintains temps reliably. Can print many types of filament - PLA, PETG, ABS, TPU, PLA/Carbon fiber with a plated steel nozzle. .06 to .4 layer height. Lifetime support and 1 year limited warranty Cons: Glass print surface might be warped Resume print on power loss is not consistent from printer to printer on the mini. May require a firmware update. Highly recommend an UPS battery Single Z axis guide rod(however this does not seem to impact quality) Power supply and controller unit cooling fans can be a little noisy. Highly recommend keeping printer in a closed separate room. Out of the box the, filament sits too close and rubs against the Z axis guide screw. ( you will want to print out the included filament guide .gcode file). On my printer and .2 layer height 100 percent infill took less than and hour. Overall I am glad I got this. I researched the Creality CR-10 mini, Flashforge Finder, and Flashforge Adventurer 3. Ultimately it was build volume, price, and amount of support and popularity in the 3D printer community. As I mentioned earlier if you don't mind the tinkering aspect that comes with owning a partial DIY 3D printer, you want a good build volume but are limited on space, and have a budget under 350.00 dollars this unit will deliver. Happy printing!! ... show more

  • Excellent Printer For the Price -- Does need tinkering to get the best out of it
I have had the printer for a little over 3 months now. Setup was a breeze (Make sure all bolts are tight some were a little loose). Was up and printing in about 45 minutes. First print was a little off but was able to adjust the wheels under the print bed and that resolved the issue. I would recommend getting the smoothers for the printer, world of difference since installing them. Also replace the Tubing and the fittings, the ones that come with the printer are not good. I also replaced the glass bed, it was warped. In the end I also bought a magnetic bed, so much easier to remove parts with this. Pros: 1. Easy assembly. 2. Easy to adjust 3. Best printer for the price and print bed size 4. Print quality is good and with smoothers it goes up to excellent. Con's: 1. Glass was warped in the center, knew this might happen from the start from research so had a replacements available. 2. Bowden tubes and fittings are garbage, replace immediately. This is something they are aware of and have fixed on some models they produce. Just be aware you could get the old stock. Overall I am enjoying this printer immensely. had a M3D Micro before to wet my feet before plunging in to 3d printing. Just have patience and research how to adjust and fine tune the printer and it will work wonderfully for you. ... show more

  • Good for big prints, if you're experienced.
We are using this for large fixtures in a manufacturing environment with a 0.8mm nozzle. Setup was easy,It's big so it can be akward to assemble with one person, but the process is simple. That's especially good because there's very few instructions for setup & first run. Bed leveling can be difficult. The large bed also has a tendency to shake off the tiny adjustment knobs placed in a mostly inaccessible location on the bed. This was fixed by buying some M4x0.7 nylock nuts to secure the position of the bed adjustment knobs. All adjustments should be made after initial bed leveling with the BL Touch bed leveling and Z-Offset. Z-Offset cannot be adjusted after you start a print unlike the Babystep Z option on the Ender. Using Firmware 1.1.7 The user interface is difficult to use compared to their more accessible consumer model, the Ender 3. Simple options like the Filament change seem like a nice option, but I found that the machine keeps printing for a while after you press the button. For my last print this was almost 2 minutes. If you try to pause, the machine keeps printing for that 2 minutes WHILE THE NOZZLE IS COOLING. At a certain point, the nozzle is too cool to extrude, but thinks it has completed several more lines. The included filament sensor is a must for large prints, but it is a detachable unit and does not secure to the machine, it simply slides in next to the extruder servo. Ours malfunctioned several times on our most recent print which also caused layer adhesion and elephant's foot issues as everything cools down. ... show more
