  • Outside Cat Heater
Style: Heater
My outside (semi-feral) cats love their heater in their house. This thing keeps their house so cozy and warm. I absolutely love the flat design so it doesn't take up much space in the dog house I purchased for them. There's no noise associated with it. It doesn't get to hot for my cats but it does get "warm". At the end of winter here in Virginia I remove it and clean it easily with a damp rag and dry it and store it away for the summer and put it back in the house box late fall, early winter. I've ordered 2 because I want to make sure I have a spare. The cost of it was amazing. I would order again and again. ... show more

  • Great option for cold chickens.
Style: Heater
Great heater for chickens. Used this in the coop during the winter to keep chickens warm at night. Worked all winter long with no issues. Installed easily with just a couple screws. Bigger than my last one that I replaced. Whips clean with soap and water when needed. Shipping was slow but overall I would purchase this again, great value for the money. ... show more

  • Working really well for my birds.
Style: Heater
I bought this for my coturnix quail. During the winter it gets quite cold where I live. I tested it indoors first to get an understanding of how it works. It heated my bedroom well at night. So, I put it outside behind my quails cages. It’s the first time when, even in the teens, that my birds still layed eggs. I’m hopeful that I can get eggs year round. My only advice is to use caution when using this heater, as the front of it does get really hot. ... show more

  • Safe and Effective - but needs better directions
Style: Heater
I hope this review will help purchasers as I've noticed a lot of people don't seem to understand the product. 1. There is no "OFF" switch - once it's plugged in, it's always on. There are two settings - "I" and "II". Obviously "II" is hotter, and it IS a little hot to the touch, especially if you don't have calloused hands. I would guess it's around 130 degrees F. "I" can be touched relatively easily and I would guess it to be around 100 degrees F (like a hot tub). 2. The smaller and more insulated your coop space is, the more effective this heater would be at heating the entire thing. Otherwise, it's only going to heat about a 1-2 foot radius around it. 3. You can use a thermocube to control when the heater comes on and off. Thermocubes come in a variety of different temperature settings so you can pick whatever works for you. 4. This is not truly an outdoor product and it needs to be in a covered space - both the plug and the heater. You can, however, use an outdoor rated extension cord to run it to an exterior outlet if needed. I use it in my coop, which was built off the "Garden Coop" design online. The covered run is approximately 8 feet long x 6 feet wide, and the coop portion is elevated over half the run - about 4 feet tall by 6 feet long by 3 feet wide. It is plywood on both sides of 2x4s, with styrofoam inside to insulate. The roof is completely ventilated with flat hardware cloth under a polycarbonate lean-to style roof. I usually stuff frost cloth in between the hardware cloth and the roof so that it's not too windy in the coop in the winter - but still plenty ventilated. With the Cozy Coop heater on, the temps outside have been in the teens-20s and the coop wifi thermometer, hung approximately 7 inches from the heater (off a roosting bar), is holding at 32 degrees. I have my heater plugged into a thermocube and it goes on at 20 degrees and off at 30 degrees. I hope this helps those who are confused by this product and the mixed reviews! ... show more

  • Keeps birds warm but NOT a space heater
Style: Heater
I have one of these units and it has served my birds very well for 4 years. I am about to buy a second one (my chickens won't let my lone guinea in the coop, so he is going to get his own bachelor pad). I am using these in a small space (converted playhouses, each is approximately a 4ft cube) where they can get up next to it when needed. What is important to keep in mind is that this is not a space heater. It will not heat the area and keep water from freezing, for example. It is a radiant heater, which means it will keep your birds warm when they are near it. You need to place the heater where they can sit ot perch next to it. Placing it on a wall several feet from your animals will accomplish nothing. The reviews that complain it is not worthwhile in cold temps are expecting a space heater, which is a misplaced expectation. I am in Minnesota. It has kept 6 guineas (not fans of winter) comfortable in sub-zero temps. 35 below zero and my birds were fine. Other considerations: I started out using heat lamps. Besides using a lot more energy, my birds actually melted their feathers getting too close to the bulbs and the bulbs were a high fire risk. If you want to keep your water from freezing this is not the item to do that. Get a heated dog bowl, but don't dismiss a great product for not doing something beyond its stated purpose. ... show more

  • Your chickens will thank you!
Style: Heater
Every chicken owner should have one of these heaters!! I love it for my darlings!! It keeps them warm and happy on cold winter days. It has two heat settings; low and high. I have only had to use warm as my coop is not huge. I feel it contribute to the water not freezing (it use to freeze before I had this). It is very easy to hang. Also, it's just fun to tell people your chickens have a flat screen, wall mounted heater it their coop! ... show more
