Well, I got tired of hearing everybody complaining there was no ice because this house and the refrigerator at the time did not have water and ice in the door. Yes, I have a new refrigerator very fancy one, but I still don’t have water and ice hooked up to it because I have to re- remodel the kitchen and run an ice line down the wall! So I purchased this unit because my daughter bought one she talked about how quiet it was and all the good points so I purchased this unit! Most people won’t like how long they actually take and most of these units all take about the same amount of time to produce ice! But I can tell you the operation is flawless very quiet and it’s a well built unit. It’s got weight to it. It’s not cheap. I would say that when you’re done using it to be sure you clean it out buying the right cleaner and taking care of this product but I can tell you it makes ice and if you wanna bag it and put it in the freezer yes it takes a little while but if you’re needing lots of ice very quickly, you better consider a very enlarge ice machine but if you just need a little bit and you’re single and you wanna bag it or you wanna get it out of the machine while you’re at home then just let it do its job make some ice and you’ll enjoy it. I really like this product. I don’t regret purchasing it not one bit and if I know somebody that needs one, I’ll buy them this one or I’ll give them the one I have once I get the new refrigerator up with water and ice in the door but for now this is a trusted product and works awesome and I recommend it especially for you single folks who live in a little apartments that just needs some ice once in a while, great product ... show more

Extremely consistent ice maker..

I inherited this machine from my parents because they didn’t want the crushed ice type of machine and I didn’t know that this was the ice maker I never knew I needed. It’s the absolute perfect thing for making quick consistent unit. I’ve never had a bad batch of ice from it plus it’s extremely quick at replacing what you take out. I’ve gotten to the point that I enjoy crushed ice versus cubed and find that crushed lasts longer especially if you pack it in your drink. I e never had any leaks or issues with this compared to other more expensive units that I’ve had. It is a bit on the noisy side when the compressor kicks in but the speed in which it makes ice makes up for it. For the price so realistically it’s worth the inexpensive price. 5 stars all the way!!! ... show more

I bought this ice maker for my dad, who is a charter boat captain, and it completely solved a daily problem for him. He ended up enjoying it so much, I purchased a counter top ice maker for my own house 😆 Before this, he was constantly stopping to buy bags of ice before trips. It was expensive, sometimes unavailable, and honestly, the quality wasn’t always great. Now, he can make his own ice at home or bring this unit with him on the boat — no more last-minute stops or unreliable bagged ice. This machine works fast. It produces a batch of ice (about 6 cubes) in roughly 8 minutes and can make over 25 lbs of ice per day, which is more than enough for his needs. You can choose between two ice sizes, and the cubes have a hollow center. The texture is actually one of the best parts — they’re slightly soft (great if you like chewable ice) but still solid enough to last a long time. In a good insulated tumbler, the ice holds up extremely well. The machine is very easy to operate. Just add water and press start to begin. It’s also compact and easy to place. It stands just under a foot tall, about 9 inches wide, and roughly 10.5 inches deep, so it doesn’t take up much counter space. The handle makes it easy to move around as needed. Cleaning is simple — there’s a self-cleaning function that runs with the press of a button and takes about 30 minutes. Overall, this has been a huge upgrade for convenience, cost savings, and reliability. No more overpriced bags of ice, no weird taste, and no worrying about availability. Decent icemaker but not long lasting.

The product meets all of the claims in the advertisement and makes a lot of ice. It is a little noisy about the same as a refrigerator. It makes ice very quickly. A couple of recommendations for anyone having difficulties: when you first get the icemaker, it’s very important that you set it upright and allow it to sit for at least two hours before you actually plug it in. If you don’t do that, your compressor will burn out quickly. I also had an issue after six months of it making ice. I didn’t clean it like recommended and it stopped making ice. I ran 100% distilled vinegar through a cleaning cycle about four or five times and then a clean water cleaning cycle two or three times and that fixed it. It began making ice again. I would recommend the slice maker. It saved us a lot of money buying ice. Update: The water pump finally went out after 9 months of use. I’ve updated my rating to 3 stars. Appliances should last a minimum of 2-4 years in my opinion before breaking down. Still a good ice maker but doesn’t last very long. ... show more

1/2 The capacity of our old Igloo ice maker.

I bought this to replace our Igloo counter top ice maker. That icemaker, after 3 years of continuous use, was crusted with minerals in spots we couldn't reach. I had to disassemble it several times over the years to get a good cleaning, but, this time upon disassembling, the bearings were rusted out, plastic parts were broken, and the mineral buildup was infested with mold. It couldn't be salvaged, so I bought this to replace it. I was disappointed to find that this unit's water reservoir and ice bin are half the size of the Igloo's. The Igloo reservoir held the equivalent of 2 large soda cups of water, while this unit only holds 1. The ice bin on this unit is half the size and, and due to its small size, it's much more difficult to scoop the ice out without dumping ice over the side of the unit. The unit works fine and makes ice quickly. I took off a star because I think it's mechanically identical to the Igloo only with a smaller reservoir and ice bin and I think it would've been better to charge a little more to double the ice bin and water reservoir sizes. We're now filling Ziploc bags with ice and storing them in the freezer so that we don't run out of ice. I fully expect this unit to eventually build up mineral deposits and develop rusted bearings and mold issues as you just can't clean these types of units effectively without disassembling them. Even then, it's not easy. I'm treating them as disposable. The Igloo was still working - even with the broken parts - it was just too gross this time to keep using. Built well, and does just what it says

I've been using one of these for about 2 months, and so far, I love it. Considering it has an actual refrigeration compressor unit and not a gimmicky Peltier plate or something like that, I wasn't expecting much for such an affordable price, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it's built well and does exactly what it claims to do. It really does produce a small batch of ice about every 6 minutes, and as long as you're there to attend to it, I don't doubt that it will make 26 lbs of ice per day as claimed. Pros: - Incredibly cheap ice. It uses about 100W while running, and makes about 1 lb per hour, so that's 10 lbs of ice for 1kWh of electricity. The national average for grid electricity is about 15 cents per kWh. A 10-lb bag of ice for 15 cents is only about 5% of what I pay at my local grocery store. - Small and quiet. Everyone will define "quiet" differently, but I'll just say that it wasn't nearly as loud as I was expecting. It's significantly quieter than my dishwasher, and even in the same small room, doesn't disrupt conversation in the slightest. Only takes up about a square foot of counter space, too, although you'll want to leave some space around the fans on the side so it can cool itself adequately. - Portable. I plan to pack this along regularly in my teardrop trailer. I have 800W of solar panels on the roof, so this won't make a dent in my power usage, and it's free ice anywhere I go. No need to find a gas station or anything - I can just convert sunlight to ice on demand. Pretty cool. Cons: - Since this lives on the countertop and not inside the freezer, it requires somewhat frequent attention. Personally, I don't really mind that at all - I just set an alarm on my phone and check in on it once per hour or so, and usually find a full bin of ice ready to transfer into the freezer - but I would imagine some people would find this annoying. It's inherent to the design, though, so if you want an automatic ice maker, save up and buy an automatic ice maker. - Ice sometimes blocks the "bin full" sensor before the bin is actually full. This pauses the machine until you push the little stragglers into the bin. Just a minor annoyance, nothing more. - The ice it makes is somewhat low-density, and with a relatively high surface area, so it melts a bit faster in a drink than the type you'd usually buy at a grocery store or gas station. If you're particular about that, I'd imagine you've already discovered the large silicone ice cube trays that make huge cubes of ice that melt very slowly. I'd use those if you don't want your drink to get watered-down too quickly. ... show more

Faulty product, but excellent customer service

The icemaker worked well initially but after a few uses it started giving an "add water" error even when filled up completely. I contacted customer support and they were extremely responsive and helpful -- I got a response from an actual person in under 36 hours. They asked for a video showing the error, which I sent. They determined that the pump needed replacing and asked if I was up for doing it myself. I said that I was and they sent one out to me at no charge. The repair was was a bit more fiddly than I anticipated, but still manageable. The old pump was indeed defective, but after replacement the ice maker still wasn't functioning. I contacted customer support again and they offered to continue troubleshooting but I declined disassembling it a second time, so they offered me a 70% refund which I accepted. Although I am disappointed that the ice maker doesn't work (it was inexpensive so not totally surprising), I'm leaving a 5 star review because I have not encountered customer service so responsive and helpful as this in literally decades. In the age of cost minimization in consumer products, a company that actually supports its products and customers is extremely rare. ... show more

I purchased this ice machine because my previous machine (GE Opal nugget ice maker) stopped making ice and I wanted a small machine to get my by until I can decide which machine I want to invest in to replace that. The Pro's: It is very reasonably priced. It is small so takes up a very small footprint. Because it is small it would be very portable and you can move it around with ease. It makes ice very quickly. The Con's: It is very small so the basket doesn't hold a lot of ice - you can fill up one cup and that's it. (thankfully it makes ice pretty quickly but it can be clunky if you need a lot of ice). It is loud when the ice is done and is being dumped in the basket. The small cubes are a lot bigger than i would expect. I haven't tried the large cubes but I am sure I would not like them because I like smaller ice cubes. Overall this is a decent machine and does the job for now. ... show more
