I purchased this ice maker to create ice for my husband's cooler he takes daily in the Texas heat. This thing is a powerhouse - putting out large cubes as fast as you can be around to get them. I absolutely loved the machine. But a month in it stopped working. It constantly said to add water even though it was full - probably a bad pump. I contacted their customer service immediately via Amazon. They were pretty responsive. It took two weeks' worth of back and forth messages with requests for photos and videos, but they finally gave me an offer to split the cost of repair (they are in China so can't ship back). I didn't think this was a good deal since it was only 1 month old, but I contacted all the repair places I could find in my area and none of them would work on these small ice makers. I let the seller know and finally they refunded my money in full with no need to send the machine back. So now I have a broken ice maker, but all my money. I am leaving it 4 stars because I loved this thing when it was working. I am buying another (not this same one) because I still can't find anyone to work on it, but kudos to customer service. ... show more

So Its a fast ice maker, About 9 minutes after you plug it in, Defaults to Large? cubes, like my wife said "That's large, what does small look like?" The cubes drop into the basket wet and start melting fast, we dump the basket into a tuperware and put them in the freezer fast. Because they are wet, (like dripping) when you put them in the freezer they stick together. But 44 pounds is 44 pounds. fits under the kitchen cabinet, not noisy except when the cubes( they are shaped like little bullets with a hole in the middle) drops. I bought this April 2021. It worked great and I loved it, until August 2022. Just over a year of use and I found broken plastic pieces inside where the cubes drop. Found out they broke off the ice sweeper, and it no longer works. The sweeper goes back and forth until it shuts itself down. I contacted Costway and they will not replace it, or the parts, or anything. I will not buy Costway again! ... show more

This unit can put out a fair amount of ice in short time. The first batch comes out within a few minutes of it being plugged in. It seems to work best when the ice is removed before the bin becomes full. The unit is pretty noisy when it is running and makes a variety of sounds. Once created, the ice is not in a freezing compartment, so it begins to melt. Our unit occasionally jams and all the lights start blinking. You have to restart the unit and then it seems to recover. Our unit also gets confused and keeps creating ice even when the bin is full then it jams up and does the flashing-light thing. People we know have the same unit and their pusher-arm broke recently after a few years of use. ... show more

I reviewed about 30+ Ice Makers on Amazon and other sources. Many had reported problems and breakdowns. This COSTWAY model EP24228BK had very few reported problems. I wanted an Ice Maker that produced 35-40lbs of ice in 24hrs. I also decided on bullet shaped ice over cubed. There are pros and cons with each. The bullet shaped ice is a little wet , but great for chewing (hopefully my dentist won’t see this post). If you plan to store the ice in the freezer, the will clump together as they are a little wet. I solved this small problem but putting a basket of made ice in a baggy and lay it relatively flat in the freezer. When the next batch is full, I take the bag out of the freezer and break it apart with a rolling pin. I then put the ice into my broken refrigerator ice bin. If you plan to use the ice within a few hours you can skip the baggy and put the ice directly in to an ice bucket. The cubed ice makers have a similar problem, but they usually stick together in the basket of the the ice makers. As many of the portable ice makers seem to break after the 90-day or 1 year warranty ends, I strongly suggest purchasing the 5 yr extended warranty. I hav used this COSTWAY Ice maker once or twice a week for the past 9 months (we’ve been going through a lot ice in this 90+ degree weather). We ordered one last year for our camper and decided to get a second this year for home it works great to keep ice in the coolers in the summer and not have to constantly buy ice that is aerated and me l start melting before you even get the bag to the car
