    • Feels cheap and has an annoying fan whine, but gets the job done.
Headline pretty much captures it. This filament dryer, which is necessary for my humid environment, gets the job done, but at the cost of feeling very cheap in settings (only 3 temperature settings, very rudimentary display and interface), materials (plastic feels thin and cheap), and fan (when on, the internal fan whine is louder than my printer). I may have to replace the fan myself due to its noise level. That being said, it seems to dry overly moist filament pretty well, and with my setup it works pretty well. ... show more

    • smoother bearing that dont fall out
when the filimant kinks and the box falls over the bearing are in place and don't fall out, also the double wide makes it stable and does not fall over easy like single wide units

I think it works, but it's not sufficient for anything but PLA. Doesn't get hot enough for PETG. It took 2 12 hour sessions before my PETG printed well. I got the PETG for free from a friend and it had been stored in the open air, so maybe that's normal, but everything I've read says PETG should be dried at 60 - 70C. Otherwise it works.     • Fan screaming loud after first use, meaning it is defective after first use.
Used it one single time, the second, the fan was screaming. Something else, I placed a thermometer into the unit and it never heated above 90F in a room that is only for 3d printing and sits at around 80f, neither the humidity or the temperature matched my thermometer that tracked the readings for 12 hours, the humidity in the printer room is around 35%, during the 12 hours, the humidity never dropped. The ratings on the dryer is being exaggerated because they are selling a roll of PLA as a separate option on the same product page. I have just received my replacement and it will need to do two things, go up to 50C and the fan remain nearly silent as that is how it starts out. ... show more

    • So much better than the stock filament holder
This replaces the Qidi Tech filament holder, which had some serious issues that this holder addresses (intentionally, or otherwise). The Comgrow uses a heated environment to keep the filament dry, which means no longer needing the bag of desiccant that always seemed to get hung up on the filament spool. Rather than trying to thread the filament before inserting the roll, which ended up allowing the filament to "jump" the spool and get tangled, you put the filament into the box first and then thread the filament. The cover is clear allowing me to see how much is on the spool rather than guessing by weight. The cover is hinged which makes loading the filament so much easier. And of course the capacity for two spools is nice. ... show more
