Packable for outdoors

I like this enough to order a second jacket (my daughter took my first one because I hated the color), but it's not my favorite. I use this as my camping rain jacket. It's unlined, so it's helpful for all season rain needs as I can layer underneath as needed. It's waterproof enough that it makes me sweat if I try to wear it other than to stay dry or block biting winds and I HATE if I need it during the summer and any part of the jacket touches my bare skin. However, it packs down small and serves it's purpose when needed, so I keep it around and everyone in my family has one. The sizing is big, so you can go down a size safely, or keep your normal size and have lots of room to layer.

A+ Ultra Packable Waterproof Windbreaker
For sizing, I'm a 36" bust, 29.5" waist. I bought the small in green in August 2020. I wanted a packable shell for my go-bag. Fit is perfect around my waist. A tiny bit baggy around the bust, but still really flattering. I feel like sleeves are a tad long, but Velcroed tight, it looks fine. In November 2020, I bought a medium in moon gray to use on my daily power walks. Color is on the lavender side of gray. It's fit is just a little bigger than the small, with enough space for a thick fleece jacket layer underneath. Reviews are what helped me make the purchase, so I'd like to share my experience as I think it would be helpful. I've seen reviews of people who were wet after using the jacket in the rain, so I'm including my experience with that also. While wearing the jacket, the packable hood is super easy to unfurl, and just as easy to roll back into the collar. Our Northern New England winter has already begun, so I've been able to test using this as a windbreaker shell. I've been able to go out in windy 14 degrees with a thin base layer and a thick fleece hoodie underneath this jacket, and been warm enough. I actually get a little overheated half way through the walk, but unzipping the pockets (which are its "vents") and the main zipper does help cool me down. One warning! Because it traps body heat so well, it also traps moisture! I have one picture of the inside of the back of jacket after a walk. Needless to say this is not a breathable Gore-tex jacket, so it's to be expected. When I tried the first jacket on in the summer, it did start to get sticky wearing it on my bare skin, so if you live in a warmer climate, this feature might get annoying. As for waterproofness, I've been out in the pouring rain a few times and come home dry -except if I've been sweating. The rain water just beads up on the jacket. Being that it wicks my sweat on the interior, I decided to performed a test in the shower to be sure about its waterproofness. After about 5 minutes of showering my arm, you can see that indeed the inside of my sleeve is bone dry. This jacket is very packable. You'll find in one of the hand pockets, there's a double zipper. Turn that pocket inside out, and feed the jacket body into the pocket/sack. Zips shut. You can search the web to find a video showing it, but it's very easy and quick to do. The packed-down size is 5"h x 9"w, and as flat as an inch thick.

This is a great lightweight jacket. I was looking for something I could quickly throw in my purse and put on when the rain picked up. We just moved to Eastern Tennessee where it rains plenty. This jacket is a great option for me. I wish it felt more cozy,like a hoodie that's waterproof but on the other hand it's perfect for throwing on top of whatever sweater or hoodie or shirt I'm wearing. Its paper thin so folding it up and carrying it around isnt a big deal. I like the steel blue color on the inside, gives it a nice touch. Fair warning though, for those of you who have very wide hips ( like myself my waist has always been 20 in and my hips a 32in, after kids my hips are at 36-38in) this jacket does feel just right on the hip. If I gained a few pounds i dont think this jacket would zip on me anymore. I have a few jackets like this style in size medium that I can force my big boobs into but cant get it to zip at my hips( have to raise jacket up higher and zip it). I'm happy to say this one will fit perfectly and when I'm back to prebaby bod theres an elastic band to tighten it around my hips.

WAY too big

As far as the jacket itself, it seems like it's of good quality. The material was nice & light. This is just a shell, there's no lining, but for what it is, it seems legit. I took 2 stars because of sizing. I got a size small hoping it would fit, I typically wear a XS/S (size 0-2) depending on the brand and style, but sadly this was gigantic on me. The sleeves were several inches past my hands (it looked like Marty McFly's self adjusting jacket in Back To The Future II, I literally loled when I put this jacket on). It was also too long, hitting st my upper thighs, and it flared out at the bottom all weird-like. I know there's velcro and manual adjustments on it, but it was too big to even adjust. It was comically big on me. TBH I think an XS might even be too big 🤷♀️ I'm returning it, and continuing my hunt for a lightweight jacket! Thank goodness for Amazon's super easy return policy!! 🙋🏼♀️🙌🏼🙏🏼 For reference I'm 5'1", 110 lbs., 34 B, petite. Product is as described and came in the time stated.

I like the Columbia brand jackets, in fact one that was my favorite was stolen at church! I wanted a white windbreaker to wear in the spring/summer while walking, and light weight enough to take on trips. This suits my purpose and expectations. To me it runs a little small, so I'm glad I sized up to a medium which was fine. Concerning lack of lining and making you sweat, I wrote this review after wearing it for an afternoon of walking and errands. I may have been a little more damp under the arms, but no where near sticking to my arms and being totally soaked. Go by your own physical constitution; if you tend to get over heated quickly and sweat easily, this jacket may not be the choice for you. I like very much that it has inside pockets on both sides where you can put valuables and not have to carry a purse.
