The quick review: the iRad 450 is an incredible value for the price. The app and community reporting is super helpful and the detector itself works great at detecting cops (and filtering out other vehicles). The long review: Before this I had my grandfather's old battery powered Passport that wasn't able to keep up with new technology and would go off at every vehicle that had collision or blind spot monitoring. Both of my parents have $500+ radar detectors that work great (as they should for the price) so I was hesitant to buy a detector at the lower price point because I have read a lot of reviews that said anything below $400 just wasn't worth it. After a lot of research I finally pulled the trigger and am SO glad I did. The detector is easy to set up and install and connects quickly to my phone's bluetooth to connect to the app for the most up to date information. It's super customizable (from the level of filtering to which bands you want to receive warnings of- I personally filter out K bands since those are only ever supermarket automatic doors) and the display has a screensaver option so it isn't distracting while you drive. It hasn't been that long but I am very satisfied with this purchase and have already recommended it to several friends. Worth the money for sure! ... show more

Money well spent. I use it in my Ford 150. I drive a lot and spend a lot of time on the highway. Some days I find my self cursing faster than normal and this guys saves my butt from troopers sitting using the radar. I like the app a lot. User friendly and Bluetooth make it so you are able to see your speed on the device. Haven’t notice a lot of activity on the app yet but hope to see that change. Has good sensitivity modes and options to accommodate anything you want. Comes with air of mounting options but the suction cups work well. ... show more

Great product. There are probably a lot of much better products out there. But I have no regrets. This is a very cost effective option. I use this detector as a tool along with other tools. One feature I really like is the iRadar community app. Scanning the horizon, learning how to interpret the radar, coupled with the community app is great. I've even learned how to interpret the detector to know when the radar is behind me (which as saved me on 3 occasions). My family and I do lots of road trips. And this detector has saved me quite a lot. Now, I do my part and travel at a reasonable and safe speed (which isn't necessarily the speed limit). I do routine maintenance on my car. And I don't use the detector as an excuse to dent the floor board with the gas peddle when I'm in the middle of no-where. It's a great tool and I haven't had any problems. ... show more

Ok, so I started buying a no name Chinese radar detector, all that did was give me a ton of false alerts (hey it was $26, figured I'd try). I still wanted to stay cheap so I was looking to get something around $100, this was a bit over but seemed to have a ton of features including the iRadar app. Was initially thrown off by mediocre reviews on some radar enthusiast sites but when you did in the big things they complain about are that the unit doesn't have speed adjusting sensitivity or the ability to store found hot spots. Well this unit has all that so maybe it was a prior release they were referring to. Now I'm sure it doesn't have the same sensitivity as a high end unit or even a $300 unit but for my area and conditions its just fine. I've had very few alerts from collision avoidance systems too. Still get the typical x and k band door alerts from stores but only when close. Dose a great job at Ka alerts from Police radar, which is all I've been able to find so far. Still waiting to get a Lidar alert, I know the state PD uses laser so its only a mater of time. I'll update when that tests out. So to sum it up: - Features work as advertised so far - iRadar app is great - Voice is crystal clear and loud enough in my Jeep - Still need to test Lidar - No cameras in my area so cant test that yet - My only neg is the suction cup mount, it eventually stuck, even in the cold but I'm getting a better one ... show more

I was wary due to the low price and so many of my friends have fancy and expensive Escorts etc. I couldn't even think of those expensive models. I read the reviews and picked the prior model to this (this is for my 2nd Cobra). This detector and its brother in my other vehicle have performed absolutely flawlessly. Imo much better than many of the brands my friends have in terms of no false alarms, range, and accuracy. To say I am surprised is an understatement and a lesson in the most expensive isn't always the best or needed. I am a courier and drive 90k+ miles a year. They have paid for themselves many times over and I couldn't recommend them more highly! ... show more

I bought this for $149 and about 2 weeks later a newer model came out causing this one dropped to $129. I'd rather had the new model but no big deal. The first time I drove with it on a 325 mile round trip to oklahoma, I thought it had to many false alerts from BSM systems but it has quietened to almost nothing now. which is awesome. Detection range works very well, especially in a long flat stretch of a highway and the volume is very good as well. I've not figured out how to use the App that comes with the product and will probably need a kid to help me. lol The detector works very well and I would recommend it, especially at or below $129 if you can get it at that price. ... show more

I can actually hear the tones and voice when blue-toothed to my phone, which blue-tooths into my motorcycle helmet. I had an Escort for twice the money and could not hear the alerts through my helmet when underway. You can't adjust the volume through the app, but either way I'm happy with the volume...which adjusts like it should with my helmet controls. ... show more
