Description

Tide Timers are a perfect gift for anyone with a coastal home or boat, fishermen, swimmers, surfers and beachcombers. They offer a simple, reliable way to keep track of the tides! The tides operate on moon time, where each tidal day has 24 hours and 50 1/2 minutes, so high and low tides do not occur at the same hour each day. The Tide Timer’s red ball hand conveniently shows –at a glance - how many hours until the next High or Low tide in your area. Tide Timers are much easier to read than printed tide tables, and come in a variety of styles to compliment any decor. Tide Timers are recommended for use on both Coasts of the United States and Canada. On the Atlantic they never need adjustment. On the Pacific, including Hawaii, they will work but they must be reset each week using our proprietary setting tables. Tide Clocks do work in the Gulf of Mexico. Schelling Corp has been making and guaranteeing their Tide Timers since 1971.

  • Nice Clock, But?--Upadate receive new clock on battery instructions via email.
Update: Changed review from 1 star to 5 star. Contacted seller and builder of tide clock. The best and only way to get battery into slot is to counter intuitively, put in positive terminal of battery first, then push in negative. It the only way to get it in. Usually most electronics have a little spring you push negative terminal of battery and compress spring and snap positive terminal in. Only thing I would recommend is update instruction and include inserting battery positive side first. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Purchased this clock for my daughter who is a avid surfer and diver. This clock work on Atlantic coasts and Pacific coasts. Gulf of Mexico, it will not work, tides to eradic. I dont know if the switched clock mechanism suppliers or what is going on. But setup is straight forward and simple, other than a AA alkaline battery does not fit into back of clock battery location and a AAA battery is to small. My wife and daughter messed it with it for a while trying to get the AA battery in, no luck, so they dumped it on me. I tried for 10 minutes then measured battery in mm's, the Energizer battery was 1.5mm longer than the battery slot holder. The only way to get it in was to break it. I just returned it after Christmas. Its a really nice looking clock, all plastic, but doesn't look cheap, nicely done. No other amazon reviews or question, brought up this problem, and we all know putting in a AA battery should be effortless for a 10 year old. But for some reason, the one I got would not accommodate a AA battery. Might just a defective one, you can always just return thru Amazon. Might order another and see. But for this review -1 stars, useless. Just FYI ... show more

  • Awesome but can't wall mount as it states
Really nice colors and super fun gift! It does have a wall hook on the back but the acrylic stand would force it to hang 2-3 inches from the wall. Wish the stand would detach as I was planning on hanging.

  • The most accurate with minimal adjustments
I have a German unit for pressure (this one here is for tyde) and I'm just comparing the make and claimed accuracy. This unit is a bit delicate but as accurate as it could be, made well. On the way coast as indicated doesn't need adjustment except to start. Would recommend it without reservation over any of the other European models! ... show more

  • Broken on arrival
I had one of these for 20 years, it always worked, I relied upon it in storms, and I considered it an indispensable device at my waterfront home.So when when it finally died this year, I was delighted to find it on Amazon and paid the $50 + $8 shipping (although I'm a prime.) which seemed way too pricey to begin with. Sadly, it arrived with the time hand bent and nearly severed, and it was way out of kilter in terms of keeping tide time - high tide and low tide virtually reversed themselves in just a few cycles. Then the time hand just broke off completely and fell off. Maybe mine was a flukey lemon but even if so there is a quality control problem as the defective hand was clearly visible when it arrived. ... show more
