I love to change up my hairstyle, cutting and perming--no problems doing that but coloring my hair...eek!! Coloring my hair makes me nervous because I have horrible images of it turning out a crazy color, being blotchy or causing my hair to fall out. Yes, I know all sound crazy but it truly keeps me hesitant to color my hair on my own. This hair color was sent to me for free from Clairol in exchange for my honest review. One thing I noticed immediately when mixing the color was that it did not smell strong like other hair dyes. I am not saying there is no smell, it still has an odor but it is less potent than other dyes. I had to really shake up the mixture for a minute or so, it looked very light in the bottle at first. The kit has a set of gloves, the color cream, the solution you mix the cream with and a conditioner. Applying the color is easy enough, I have medium length hair and I did the process by myself. The directions do state that you are NOT to rub the color into your scalp. I know sometimes it's tempting to rub the color in to makes sure it covers your roots. DON'T do this!! If you do, you will wind up with a dyed scalp...yes I speak from experience (face palm). Be careful to not get any dye on your skin, if you do wipe it off immediately. The process is easy; apply dye to hair, wait, rinse out and condition. I was very impressed with how close to my natural color this shade is, I only have a few grays to hide. I opted for a color close to my shade because I do not want my root growth to scream "dye job"!! The conditioner made my hair feel super soft and healthy. The tube in the kit will give several conditionings. Overall--easy to use, leaves hair looking natural and healthy. I love Clairol Nice 'n Easy - This is a beautiful color (110 / 6R Natural Light Auburn). I have been using Clairol's "Nice N' Easy" for years & years to color and/or highlight my hair and it's always turned out absolutely gorgeous. I have dark brown hair and I like to make it red/reddish-brown. This color 6R (Natural Light Auburn) and 6.5R (Light Radiant Auburn) are my two go-to's and favorites. You would never know that I had such dark brown hair. It almost looks black from afar so when I saw the red result I got from these I was so impressed. My hairdresser told me she wouldn't recommend this because I have really dark hair and it can damage the hair, come out brassy/orange....TOTALLY untrue. I did this in one easy step. I applied it all over, left it on for 45 minutes, since I have such a dark starting point, and when I washed & dried it I couldn't believe how natural it looked. There was NO brassy or orange tones whatsoever...just natural red hair and highlights. The three different tones of highlights they talk about on the box are definitely apparent when I look at my hair in the light or in the sun, it's so gorgeous. It looks like a professional salon job. Over the years they've also worked on the smell of the mixture. Obviously being what it is it'll never smell like benign tulips, but they've definitely toned it down a bit. I still obviously recommend you work with the bathroom door & window open! Only complaint I have is that the CC conditioner tube they include is so tiny! I have really long hair (about 2 feet of hair, it falls to about an inch above my navel) so the tube doesn't last long. The color truly does get preserved with that CC conditioner though...I can tell the difference because it looks so shiny and the red color really stands out. Once the CC conditioner is gone I definitely notice that my regular shampoo & conditioner dulls some of that shine. Highly recommend this product to anyone interested in natural, easy, gentle permanent color. I love it! ... show more

When I received my package and open it, I panicked -- it was different than the ones I'd been buying at the store or previously from Amazon -- I use dark blonde or lightest brown depending on how I feel. I hadn't dyed my hair myself since high school and have just gotten salon highlights for years and remembered back then I thought Clairol was the best and it came with fabulous conditioner. I've been getting the one with the tube. I had no idea that was the new formula and thought it was just me not knowing how to do this the best way. The color came out way darker than the box and all the things other reviewers said, except my hair came out nice after the conditioner. Anyway, this order I got the old version that everyone was begging for who had used Clairol a long time. After I opened and got through the shock of how liquid everything was, I looked up reviews and found I didn't get some weird knock off fake box, but the original kind everyone raved about, so I used it. They aren't exaggerating AT ALL. The color matched the box, came out spot on and is 100% better than the new version I'd been using, not knowing better. It isn't brassy and doesn't make my hair more red (luckily I don't mind strawberry blonde or auburn on me so I was fine before, but it was nothing like the box showed, who knew my hair could match the color I selected! :) I hope they always send the old formula...It is perfection. The conditioner is the same and just what I remember from high school but I was shock at just how much better the old version is compared to "new and improved" -- what were they thinking??? ... show more

I love this brand and I've been using it for years. It has easy instructions and comes with everything you need. It probably says it only takes 25 mins to dye your hair. Which is technically true, but I'd allow more like 45-60 You let the dye sit for 25 minutes, you also need to apply it and wash it out. Can't beat the price and ease of dying my hair at home. And the color looks great - no visible gray! ... show more
