  • Fantastic and totally worth it
I recently purchased this head unit from Cidava, and to say I am impressed is an understatement. Between the incredible customer service, to the mind blowing capabilities of the product, I am extremely happy. The owner has been texting back and forth with me since I placed the order, and has had a very quick response time and had been nothing but friendly and helpful. He got me in contact with his source for setting up the wifi on the radio through the sim card, and he was friendly and helpful as well. The installation process was about as easy as it gets. All wires were clearly labeled, and the instructional video on youtube made installing this head unit so much easier. I spent just under an hour working on the install and everything worked on the first try. The unit fits in the dash like GM made it themselves. It is a perfect fit and looks almost factory. I am blown away by the capabilities and options this unit has to offer. If you are only looking for carplay/androidauto, don't worry about getting the wifi sim card. But if you want to unlock the full capabilities of the unit, the sim card is 100% worth it. The entire google play store is at you disposal. As an avid hockey fan myself, having the capability of having the NHL app downloaded and fully useable on my radio is incredible. The options for the customization of the sound is insane too; I have no clue what 90% of it means, but it is still pretty cool to have all of the options. My truck did not have the capability if androidauto initially, but this head unit gave me wireless connectivity within seconds of booting up. The only thing I would like to see changed, is more options for the style layout. While there are 27 different options, a lot of them feel pretty similar. I would like to see some more options and color schemes, maybe even some more white options to provide a clean and simple look to the home screen. That really is my only complaint with the unit as of now, and that is not really a big deal at all. I have only had the unit installed for about a day now, and no issues as of yet. I will provide an update on the quality after a month or so of use. HIGHLY recommend this unit. ... show more

  • High Price, Decent Product, Lacluster Instructions.
Works well, feels like decent quality for the price. Screen looks nice and the DSP works great. Steering wheel controls works immediately once everything is plugged in properly. There isn't any instructions in the box, they hope you find a instructional video. Ended up using a different companies video and guessed when the parts were slightly different. Carplay/Android auto connect very fast and work well on the 13 inch screen. Nothing really needed to be configured out of the box. Overall it's a decent radio, it is a little pricey but I've heard horror stories about the cheaper big screen radios. ... show more

  • Great upgrade, amazing customer service, and CALL QUALITY HELP
Bought this for my 2018 Silverado 2500HD. Took my time installing it, taping the big harnesses and modules with Tesa tape so they wouldn't rattle once closed up, and I bought an inexpensive external microphone to use since a few reviewers have mentioned the poor call quality. I know that these Android based head units have known issues with call quality but I'll get to my workaround for that. Fit & finish is great, looks factory and doesn't rattle when assembled. The matte finish on the trim bezel is easily printable but I left mine black. I needed to update the unit via USB once I got it powered up and discovered a couple minor issues with HVAC related settings, and as others have mentioned the support folks are top notch and super responsive. Sound quality is definitely better than stock. The onboard DSP and sound controls are pretty comprehensive. I added some under-seat subs and an amplifier at the same time as this unit and the crossover works with both the onboard amplifier to cut bass from the door & dash speakers, as well as removing high frequencies from the subwoofer preamp output. There is only 1, I used a splitter to get 2 inputs to my amplifier. Regarding the call quality...these units no longer ship with an external mic. As I said, I bought a cheap one (3.5mm mono) and ran it to the headliner console and plugged it in. Results were mixed, with some folks saying I was far away, in a tunnel, muffled etc. The Mrs said the chime module was VERY loud. That ended up being because the faceplate mounted mic was only a couple inches away from the chime speaker mounted behind the radio. The fix I stumbled upon that worked for me is a combination of settings changes. And there are a LOT of settings to explore lol. 1st under SETTINGS in the FACTORY tab I toggled the BUILT-IN AND EXTERNAL MICROPHONE SWITCHING to EXTERNAL MIC and that didn't seem to help. Left it that way anyhow. Below that are 3 different mic gains. I set MIC GAIN 1 and MIC GAIN 2 at 0, and MIC GAIN 3 at 15. Wife says it sounds like I'm sitting next to her now. 19 year old daughter helped me confirm I had the right mic active over a few calls, and once I maxed the MIC GAIN 3 at 20, she said that was the best sounding. This despite the setting for the mic switching not seeming to have an effect initially. All in all, I love the unit. Looks great, screen is responsive, and with a little patience and sweat equity you'll have it connecting automatically to wireless Android Auto or Fruit Phone CarPlay. Personally I switch back & forth between an OBD monitor dash and Android Auto, all while blasting music and taking calls that I can be heard clearly in now. And don't mind the rosy tint in the last couple pics, the sun was setting when I took those! Hope this helps some folks. ... show more

  • Definitely worth the money
This head unit is amazing, it does more than I expected, already had this installed for about 2 weeks now I do recommend getting a SIM card so you can use the unit to the fullest, this unit really upgrades your speakers makes them loud , easy installation they even have a video on YouTube, it’s worth the money connectivity to Bluetooth is great takes about 2 hours to install but to fully understand what the unit does you will probably need a entire day to customize to your liking but it’s a great unit ... show more

  • Cidava 13" radio review
After having this radio at home for about a week, decided to install it yesterday. A bit aprehensive about all the wiring (not my strong suit) but jumped right into it backed by the detailed and well explained installation video on Cidava's YouTube channel. I had a bit of a hiccup with some of the wiring (me not understanding) and Victor jumped in like a champ and walked me through the process with a video call and spent the time to make sure everything was working properly. As overwhelming as it looks at the beginning, when you have a great product backed with great support, you can't go wrong. I am super happy with my purchase and the way the radio is working. I had it connected to my house wifi from my driveway and the video quality is absolutely incredible. Also the wireless android auto and car play works fantastic. You can't go wrong with this product and the quality of support you get. Thanks again Victor! ... show more

  • Great unit, bad customer service
4 star for the radio everything worked except the canbus had an issue sending the signal to the chime speaker to work. I got ahold of the seller and they thought it was the canbus module but they didn't have one to give me. Two days go by without a word from them. I ended ordering a wiring harness on Amazon that fit my truck and came with the canbus. The new canbus fixed my problem of the chime speaker not working. I swapped them out and returned it as it was actually already returned and missing it's chime speaker. For anyone wondering about the sim card, you do not have to get their and I can confirm that you can get a tablet line through Metro by T-mobile unlimited data for $20 a month and it works great just leave the nano sim attached to the micro sim piece and place it in the sim holder. You will have to restart the unit for it to work and make sure mobile data is on in the settings. So the radio is great when everything works but customer service I think could use some work. Don't expect to here from them if you ask a question on there website. Best chance is to text the number on the card. ... show more

  • Not Worth the Money
Purchased this unit for my 2015 GMC Sierra Denali after a lot of research and weighing options and this was listed as Amazons Choice at the time of purchase. I read all of the reviews prior to making my decision and although a lot of what I am going to say in this review has been listed in other reviews, I assumed they were one off issues related to that review as none of the reviews listed all of the issues I experienced at once. To start with, shipping was quick and was packaged well. As almost every review states, there are no installation instructions and to watch YouTube videos to figure it out. The only literature in the box is a note to contact an email address that is listed with an issues, which can just be thrown away as that email box does not appear to be monitored. With that being said, installation wasn't overly difficult and I had the truck torn apart and reinstalled in around 2 hours. After install, I reconnected the battery and fired up the radio. Once again, as almost every review states, this screen is HUGE and absolutely bright to the point where you will need to dim the screen in low light situations (yes, it has auto dim as an option, it just doesn't work well). After install and first boot is where my issues began. Other reviewers noted that the seller was quick to respond to messages - this has not been my experience. I still haven't heard from them after multiple attempts and another one of the reasons for the 1 star review. Heck, I wouldn't give it any stars, if that was an option. I am writing this review as a buyer beware message. My truck has the factory Bose system and therefor I needed to buy the extra $200 unit to make it work. The front speakers work great and the sound is better than factory. The rear speakers, on the other hand, are barely audible. If you use the fader and move it to the rear, it shuts off all together. The sound can only be heard from the front speakers, unless your ear is pressed up to a rear speaker, you would think they didn't work. I have seen other posts on line that stated to clip some wires to correct this - seller didn't respond and I am not going to just start clipping wires to see if it corrects it. There are limited themes available and each one will change which factory options are available to change and each time you change themes to see if it is even something you want to use, it resets those options and you need to change the factory settings that are available to change, this includes mirror settings, localization settings, time, etc. You will also need the factory code to get into some of the settings and they are different, based on model. Mine, after I reached out to the seller (with no response) and googling and trying multiple codes, is 8888. After changing Android and localization settings, the temperature (which is perpetually stuck at 32F and no response from seller) will change to F, the climate controls will not change are still in Celsius. Not a huge deal but the outside temperature on the screen updates for a few seconds and then reverts back to 32F or 0C, depending on your settings. Also, the only option for English is UK English, which means things like Favourite instead of Favorite, etc. Climate controls will appear on the screen and do not accurately display what is actually set on my climate control. Also, not sure if other users can use the touch screen to make changes to their climate settings, my vehicle cannot. And once again, the climate settings on the screen are stuck in Celsius. I have stumbled upon no setting that allows that to be changed. One of the huge pain points and is called out by a reviewer that I should have listened to is that you will lose all factory steering wheel controls. Yes, volume and skip will work - you will not be able to pick up calls, make calls, hang up calls, etc, with this unit. You can choose between Navigation or Assistant when you press the talk button and I have found those solutions severely lacking. You must use the touch screen to pickup or make phone calls, this is horribly unacceptable. My particular truck also lost the posted speed limit feature as it was tied to the old radio, which is removed to install this system. Other units I looked at leave the factory unit in place and use "Y" cables to retain factory features. While talking on the phone, and yes, I use the external microphone and have this changed in settings to such, everyone complains about the quality of the call. The radio tuner is almost non working. Yes, you can manually tune to a station and that is about it. A lot of static even from towers that I am close to. You can try to use the autofrequency (auto tune) feature and all this will do is skip around radio stations trying to lock onto a signal making this another useless feature. While on the topic of the radio - there is no seek or traditional scan feature. If you press the seek button, it will reset all of your saved favorites with all channels it sees at that moment. Another horrible design as I only found 1 of the themes where you can actually set your own favorite stations, all of the other themes there is no way to change them (I am referring to the presets at the bottom of the screen, not the Favourites page). Using skip will skip through this list of useless stations unless you are on your Favourites page to start with. The backup screen does still have the option to show lines. In reverse, my display shows the lines about an inch long, on a 13 inch screen. No sense even having that option turned on as they only appear way at the bottom of the screen. Every 15th to 20th vehicle start, the radio will power all the way down and reboot. Only annoying part about this is that if you are trying to back up, there is no camera for a few minutes (not moments) while the system reboots. The factory radio, even when malfunctioning or booting up would still kick into reverse camera when the vehicle transmission was in reverse. The unit came with Android 13 and it claims it is fully updated. Android is currently on version 16 - not sure how they claim fully updated while still being 3 full versions behind. There are a lot of annoying little things about this unit and so many settings to go through that you will spend way more time trying to get this unit to function they way you want it to than you ever will installing and than uninstalling the unit to send it back. There are other systems available for the same or slightly more money that users have experienced this level of frustration with. Horrible, actually no customer service and over $900 for this due to Bose, keep looking and buy something elsewhere. ... show more

  • Ok for what it is
This unit looks great and installation was pretty easy following along with the instructional video found on YouTube. I have had several issues though: 1. I emailed customer service about some issues which will be detailed in my following points. I didn't receive a response. I text them at the provided number and received a response within 24h. 2.In the instructional video, they demonstrate that you can see your carplay/Android Auto navigation on the home screen. I couldn't get this to happen. When I asked about it, they told me that they have disabled this feature because it was causing the system to crash. 3. The microphone didn't work. After texting back and forth to trouble shoot the issue, they said that they were going to test a new audio wiring harness and microphone and send them to me. 2 weeks later l text them back because I hadn't received anything. They said that they would weren't sure if they sent it and would check. A week later, still nothing. 4. Pushing the microphone button on my steering wheel activates android auto. A long hold does nothing. The microphone can only be activated from the screen. 5. The outside temperature is not available. 6. You can't simply add a data only SIM card for LTE connectivity. You have to pay $50 a month for unlimited data through someone they have worked out a deal with. I ended up ordering a whole new system from Amazon to obtain the new audio wiring harness, and returned it with the defective harness. I also purchased a different microphone than what they provide for a stock appearance. Now that I have a working microphone I am happy with the system, but it is not as advertised. I can live with a few compromises for the ability to add Android Auto to my truck. ... show more
