When i first saw this wad of string and little lights I thought, okay, get what you pay for, HOWEVER I am amazed at how this lights up and how easy it is to set up. I bought 2 of these and love them. The plug has a button that you can push and it will light up in different patterns, awesome. The only thing is the ends where you would secure it int he ground, those will come undone due to the wind pulling on them, but that can easily be fixed. We wanted something simple and elegant by our backyard pool, where the family spends so much time during the holidays. This lightweight tree was the answer. Easy to attach to the patio support column. Spread out the lights in a nice arc around the column, tack them down into the ground, and turn on. Comes in a small, flat box, so easy storage when the season is over. I removed one star because there are many "flashing" options for the lights, none of which we use. (I'm buying this for the lights, that means I want lights to be on, not off half the time.) But every time you plug the tree in, you have to cycle through all those undesirable options to get to the steady burning one we want. It would be so much better if it would "remember" the previous option and come back on to that option. ... show more

Love the way it made the front of the house tree look like a Christmas tree. I wish the hooks were better though at staying in the ground. I had to get different hooks for it for next year
