This is one of those little additions to a room that is a great conversation starter. It definitely brings about laughs with people visiting. We first tried to use it on a bedside table for a reading lamp and it was too bright for this (I tried to get a good picture of it with the light on and failed multiple times). It worked much better as a desk lamp and also just as some extra light in the corner. The chicken is a heavier metal and looks the same as it advertised pictures. The paint job is good. It is more of a rustic look and not really clear, but that is definitely the style. The light bulb screws in well and is solid. The cord is also a thicker one with a quality switch. Overall, this little guy is well-made. Be aware this is not a large lamp: the light bulb is smaller than a normally-sized bulb. The advertisements do a good job showing its true size. It won't be the main light for a room, but it's a good addition. These chicken lamps have become viral lately. Because I’m assuming most people are purchasing this as a novelty item, I feel it still deserves 5 stars, but don’t expect this to be much of a functional lamp. The light is BRIGHT! The picture I’ve included was taken during the day, with the room lights on, but the bulb is so glaringly bright you might think it was taken at night in a dark room. As a household that has and loves our chickens we have a lot of random silly chicken décor and this light is a fine addition to the collection. It feels sturdy and well built. It is smaller than it appears in some of the pictures as it only sits about 5” high. Really an odd lamp, yet somehow appealing. Would be a great gift for someone who thinks they don't need anything or someone who collects chicken decor. Packaging was great with a decorative box and exactly sculpted padding on the inside. The lamp is a bit bright to try to read by unless it was behind the reader somewhere. Otherwise it's more like looking into a small flashlight. The only thing wrong with the lamp was the socket alignment. As you can hopefully see from the last photo, the socket is aligned vertical to the stand vs parallel to the opening in the plastic. This made the bulb very difficult to install. The bulb is plastic on the outside. I wouldn't have tried so hard if it were a glass bulb. Seems like the socket is glued in somehow and not movable. ... show more

This little lamp is perfect for the chicken keeper in your life. I can't honestly figure out if it depicts a rooster or a hen, but regardless, it's super funny. The lightbulb is included and it's a smaller bulb. There's no shade or anything on it, so it's bright and glaring, but hopefully you're not getting this lamp for practical lighting reasons. It plugs in easily, looks just like it does in the pictures, and best of all it's super funny. Right now it's priced at $30 with a 30% off coupon which I think it's a good deal. This came damaged, it would not turn on. I have circled the switch in two pics showing I flipped the switch to both positions and it did not turn on. I also included a picture of the inside where the bulb screws in and it looks odd. Overall very disappointed and I do not recommend this product.

Fun little novelty lamp. The bulb it comes with is pretty bright. I do wish the bulb set a little farther inside the chicken but it's still cute the way it is. The cord placement I think would be better if it ran down the inside of one of the legs and came out of the base instead of where it is, but that doesn't change the functionality. ... show more
