I was looking for a suitable coop for my backyard that was affordable and durable. I didn't want to spend several hundred dollars either. I was able to put this together easily and in a very short amount of time. I like that it has a plastic cover so the chickens stay better protected. The latches are surprisingly strong, they are held in place by a spring. I did add additional latches because I have lots of predators where I live. I attached wheels to the heavy end (I didn't buy big enough wheels, and don't buy the rotating kind) and was able to move it by myself outside. The chickens are very pleased and immediately started laying eggs. The thinner pieces of wood are a little flimsy but nothing I would complain about. Broken when I got it. They offered me half a refund to keep the coop and fix it myself. I wood glued every piece as I put it together and fixed what I could. It is very soft wood and does not hold together well. The nesting box lid was warped so badly I had to put weather strips on it to keep the rain out. The coop is nice enough for two or three hens at most or for growing out chicks as we are doing. We added hail screen to replace the plastic window front and more hail screen over the plastic see through roof panel. We felt this would make it far more secure if a coyote or a stray dog would wonder up to the yard and try to get in. I have a rabbit double decker hutch that we used but I love this allows them access to free range under it.
