Read the instructions! I figured the back popped off, and it was stubborn, but it did. Oops. Turns out the bottom in front slides down, giving you full access to set the bottom mounting screw and place the battery. JB Weld to the rescue, put back together, and works great. Easy to program.

The set up is not difficult or complicated, it just doesn’t work. I ordered one, thought it could be defective and ordered a replacement. I was wrong. This product just sucks. The first one worked one out of five times, sometimes. The second one not so much. It’s not that it’s hard. It just doesn’t work with no way to make it work if it doesn’t feel like it. Everything was compatible it just doesn’t. I’m being nice here. I want to beat all of the items into tiny pieces of plastic with a hammer, but I want my money back so I won’t. The first one only worked if it wasn’t vertical, as in installed as intended, and only 1 in 5 at that. The second not at all. At this point, I think it’s messing with me. ... show more

I recently changed my old Chamberlain opener to this smart keypad. This is so much easier to operate. Has big lit up buttons that are easy to press. Syncing with my opener was very easy. What I love about it: Easy Guest Access: I love being able to create unique PIN codes for friends. You can even set them for your dog walker and delivery drivers. I can set them to expire or only work at certain times, which gives me so much peace of mind. Simple DIY Install: It’s truly wireless. I had it mounted and synced to my myQ app in less than 15 minutes. No messy wiring required! Real-Time Alerts: My phone pings me the second it detects motion or whenever someone uses their code. So you will know whenever your garage door was left opened. One tip: Uses 9v battery which lasts 2 to 3 months. I'd recommend picking up some rechargeable batteries so you can swap them out quickly. That way, you never have "downtime" while one is charging! Bottom Line: It’s reliable, the app is intuitive, and it adds a serious layer of security to the "real" front door of my house. I just installed the myQ wireless keypad, and it took me about 30 minutes but with a little struggle. I started off by scanning the QR code on the back of the keypad and I kept getting a “can not connect” response. I then went online and discovered that I can use the hardwired remote on the wall and lift the little door covering the button, then push the learn button, then put in your code into the myQ keypad, then push and hold the picture of the little garage door button on the myQ keypad, then with the lights flashing for a bit, push the same button again. So far the keypad is working like it should. Even though I can open my garage with my iPhone I wanted my family to have access to my garage. Shipping, delivery, and functionality are all great (5-stars). The model, is actually different than what I thought I was buying (got CH348/C instead of L979M). 3-stars. It works with my opener and looks the same tho. My-Q doesn’t work with this control even tho it’s plastered all over the box. The instructions to program were discombobulated. Frustrating to follow the three methods and have them all fail. In my case I had to hold keys 0-3 until flashing stopped, press learn, enter code then press home twice and wait 10-20 seconds for the door to start moving, and finally press home quickly one more time when the door was first moving. I’d rate it 3-stars. Overall fits the bill but docs need some work and you may need some patience. ... show more

    • DO NOT BUY...unless you have a WHITE LEARN button on your garage door opener.

After testing this unit, I discovered that it will not connect to the myQ app or provide Wi-Fi functionality unless your Chamberlain garage door opener has a white “LEARN” button. My 2025 Chamberlain opener (a $300 model) has a yellow LEARN button, which means it is not compatible with the keypad’s “advanced myQ features.” If your opener’s LEARN button is yellow, blue, orange or red, you’ll be limited to programming only a single 4-digit access code—no app integration or expanded functionality. In those cases, it’s more practical to use the standard Chamberlain flip-cover keypad that came with the opener. Build quality is another consideration. The myQ keypad feels no sturdier than the standard flip-cover model, yet costs more. Without the myQ/Wi-Fi integration, it’s hard to justify the premium price given its otherwise ordinary performance and construction. ... show more
