Used this recently to diagnosis a check engine light on a Toyota Camry. Worked great and saved me tons of money instead of going to the dealership! The interface is really easy to understand but you will have to check what the codes mean on the internet. Not hard but just a heads up. It’s a terrific value for the money considering all the time and money you can save. It even let me know that the code I was getting was a gas cap that was not screwed on tightly. I would have had to take off work to get it checked out and with this scan tool I fixed it in 2 seconds with zero money spent! This alone makes it worth it in my book. Build quality is solid and this has become part of my standard tool kit.

I have a number of OBD2 scanners, including an Autel and an OBDLink MX+ adapter using Torque Pro on my phone. Ironically, none of those can clear the codes for knock sensor failure and an 02 sensor pre heater fail. I have no idea why. But this little cheap scanner could. As an inexpensive scanner, don't expect a great physical interface - some of the limited keys are multi function and the navigation is a bit harder than more expensive units. But it's cheap enough to buy and leave in the car and not worry about it. It does what it needs to - scans and clear codes. The cable is long enough to use comfortably, and it seems like it's built well enough to survive some less than perfect handling, although I wouldn't recommend testing it with a drop on concrete. But I would recommend this scanner for the average person, especially if the price was $25 or less.

The CarFever CF06 OBD2 Scanner is a no frills vehicle code reader and some very useful features. This unit has an easy to use interface with separate up and down buttons and a nice clear screen. It reads and displays codes quickly, it has a battery test function, it can show car speed, battery voltage and VIN. Some of this options are not that useful to me, but it is kind of neat to have them available. My vehicle had and episode, where it hiccup when starting then spewing the ABS, Airbags and Engine lights on the dashboard. My initial reaction was to assume the worse. But it was just a low power battery caused by leaving a tire inflator plugged on a always-on USB port in the trunk. I had not idea, that a low battery can trigger glitches in the car's computer causing a variety of warning lights and codes, but not a low battery warning. This corded scanners was simple plug-and-play and it took less than a minute to get several DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code). I learned that each DTC code is made up of five characters, with a single letter followed by four numbers. The letter indicates which of the four main systems (Powertrain, Body, Chassis and Network) the issue was detected. With the help of my neighbor, we went thru each code and in less than 20 minutes got to the bottom of the issue. We reset the codes, let the battery charged and the dashboard lights have not returned. We also tested this OBD2 scanner on my neighbors old minivan by unplugging a couple of fuses and sensors. It was able to display the right fault code, but we also double check online and in the mobile app. This corded scanners was simple plug-and-play and it took a few seconds to get a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code). I learned that each DTC code is made up of five characters, with a single letter followed by four numbers. The letter indicates which of the four main systems (Powertrain, Body, Chassis and Network) the issue was detected. The CarFever CF06 OBD2 Scanner is easy to use and navigate and it reads and displays fault codes quickly. I like the one hand design, the nice clear and bright screen, the extra functions and the included carrying pouch.

My husband has an old 2000 Jeep Cherokee that constantly has a check engine light on (lol!) and I thought it would be so convenient to have a diagnostic scanner/code reader at home. It’s so much easier (and cheaper, honestly) than having to run to a car part store or mechanic/dealership to figure out what’s going on. We’ve already used it more than once (unfortunately lol) and it’s been a huge help in figuring out what’s wrong, especially for those “mystery” check engine lights, if you know what I mean.. It’s extremely easy and straightforward. Just plug it in and it tells you exactly what’s wrong. In addition to telling you your codes, it can also tell you your battery life and you can easily print it all out. For an at home scanner, it works great! And the price is outstanding, it’s extremely affordable! It’s one of those things that’s great have in your trunk incase of emergency. I would definitely recommend it! It also would be an awesome gift to give to someone who just got their license/first car!
