It was cheap, it works. Side caring was a bit tricky, but Google solved the problem nicely. It seems that Amazon is not going to make it simple to add material you did not buy from them.

I got this as a cheap tablet to run D&D maps on a digital game board. It did NOT suit my needs. But it is perfect for reading, playing game apps, and watching videos. It’s perfect for a child or as an e reader but don’t expect to be able to get any work done on it. It’s not very powerful, lacks compatibility with anything not Amazon, and is built to try to sell you more Amazon stuff. The Lock Screen is a perpetual add screen, the layout is not customizable at all, the App Store is limited to Amazon App Store so you will NOT have access to the full play-store, and the thing that really killed it for me was there is NO way to project or mirror the screen to a monitor unless it’s connected to a fire stick or fire TV. It won’t recognize any USB C to HDMI cable or interface. It’s a very cheap tablet that runs basic task very well. Battery is very good. If you’re ingrained into the Amazon ecosystem or have kids that want a tablet to play games on, it’s perfect for you. Personally didn’t suit my needs but I gave it to my wife who’s teaching her parrot to paint on it so it’s getting used and makes her happy. I had bought the refurbished version for my 3 year old at the time and it ended up being a great tablet. I had considered getting one for myself. Now, I'm not so scared to buy refurbished on other products.

So I’ve had this tablet for a year now and Im about 1 1/2 weeks outside of replacement/ return options. Which to me is a scam because of course this past month is when the tablet decided to STOP CHARGING COMPLETELY(tried different chargers), NO LONGER HOLD CHARGE, AND CHOOSE WHEN IT WANTS TOUCH SCREEN TO WORK! This is the 3rd maybe fourth time upgrading this line of tablets, and I feel like I’m buying a new one EVERY YEAR! It’s disappointing when it stops working randomly at no fault of your kids or your own. No water damage, hasn’t been excessively dropped. It was well cared for and here I am shopping for ANOTHER TABLET! I originally bought it for a 3 yr old and planned on sharing as I read stories on my profile, but quickly realized the storage wasn’t enough for that. I was considering a Kindle until I read a review from a man who suggested getting a Fire Tablet 8 instead because of the HD quality picture. I do have some vision issues and thought I would take his advice and see if the HD made a difference. It does. The size is perfect for reading from my Kindle Library. The battery life is long, and the buttons are on the top so there are no accidental closures of the screen. I got a refurbed model and it is in pristine condition. I can't believe how inexpensive a powerful little tool like this tablet can be. I don't do anything fancy, but I can stream video with a nice, clear picture. I use a Bluetooth speaker because all of these portable devices sound like a tin can to me. Amazon has made a really easy to use and useful product. I really like it. ... show more
