  • Nice heater. Everything seems pretty good.
I was hoping I could use it on a smaller (1000W) inverter for trailer camping, but it seems to start up in the 1500W range, It does seem to have some memory (if I put it on eco it stays there after plug/unplug), but I'm unsure how long that lasts. (And away from home is the last place I want to blow a fuse. :( ) This works, I've attached readings from a power sensor, which does give me one thing I don't like about this is that it can draw more than the 1500. (Numbers are max.) So 1624W is a bit more than it should pull, but still under what a normal circuit should support (1800W). The numbers for 1000 and 700W are good. The fan alone is 23W. For my particular use case I would have liked to be able to set it up to lock out the higher power. (But I'm not going to hold it against it.) The oscillating function is good and works. The thermostat mode I haven't tested much because I don't want to heat a room that hot. The tip over protection works, seems to be about 60 degrees (maybe a bit more) It's certainly more than 45 degrees, so that does have a possible bad failure mode if it's in a tight space. I've had some other heaters which are much worse in the past. One thing I like is if you turn it off, it runs the fan for ~30 seconds to cool down the heating elements. (It does not do that if it tips over) but I find that a good thing to cool off before the thing might be moved. One puzzling thing is the lack of batteries for the remote it comes with. It comes with the remote but not some cheap AAA batteries. Which seems like a contrast to most of the good packaging, packing and an good English manual (and pretty good English at that, only a couple of indications it wasn't a native speaker.) It's in the manual, so it wasn't just a spur of the moment thing. I would guess it's because of the tightening air transport rules (even though they wouldn't make sense for that type of battery.) Dunno, it's just odd to me with everything else being so nicely presented. Overall, it seems superior to any other space heater I've owned (granted that's a limited set, and inflation has a huge role in that IMO, it's probably about what those cost when adjusting for it) and I think 5 stars are warranted, though the higher power does bug me a bit, but the duration of that was limited, so I think this is more of a 4.7. I'll be using this later on when it gets cold, and will update if any issues. ... show more

  • A Very Versatile Little Heater
Small space heaters used to be noisy little cubes that would struggle to warm up a space the size of a desk. Not in this case! This little heater is not only quiet enough to almost ignore, but will drive me out of my home office if run at top capacity for an hour or two. Luckily, it has multiple heat settings (H1, H2, H3) to control how much heat it is putting out. If that isn't enough control, its "ECO" mode lets you set a temperature at which the heat turns off, but the fan continues to circulate until the air cools off, at which time the heat comes back on. There is also a fan-only mode which is handy for those times when you just want a bit of circulation. And a switchable oscillating mode which pivots the heater back and forth over about 60 degrees to avoid hot spots and distribute the heat. The heater is light with a convenient cutout for a handle and is easily moved to the limit of its 6 ft cord. The base is no larger than its column, but I don't worry about it being inadvertently knocked over. It has tip-over protection and will shut off quickly. Normally, shutdown will run the fan for 20 seconds after the heat turns off to allow the plates to cool. One small caveat, though not enough to deduct a star. The icons on the top control panel don't exactly line up with the touch pads under them - the icons are about 3/8 of an inch offset - just far enough to make a stab at the icon ineffective. A swipe over the area of the icon works, though, as does a stab at the area just below any specific icon. Not a deal breaker once I knew where to touch, and I tend to use the tactile remote mostly anyway. ... show more

  • Robust Safety Features
I got this little space heater for my teenager. I like to keep the house cool, but he hates having to get out of bed in the morning when it's cold. Hopefully, this little heater can make mornings easier for both of us this winter. When choosing a heater for my son's room, my highest priority was safety and this unit has a lot of safety features. It has a tip alert that sounds an alarm and automatically shuts off of it tips over (i tested it out and it turned off immediately), it also automatically turns off if it over heats. There's a robust cover over the heating element, so there's very little chance that anything can touch the element. When the unit is powered off there is a 22 second timer during which the fan blows out the residual heat so as not to overheat. I love that this unit has the ability to set an ambient temp that the unit will maintain within 4 degrees, and has the timer feature which will allow him to keep the heater on for a set length, up to 12 hours, before automatically shutting off which, to me, also encourages safe use of the unit. Two features that I think add a level of usability are the oscillating nature of the fan with heat which distributes the heat evenly throughout the room and the option to have the fan on and oscillating without heat. I bet he will also get a lot of use out of the remote, turning on the heater while he's still in bed to get the room warmed up before he has to actually get out of his warm bed. ... show more
