The breathable material prevents leaves and debris from collecting inside the unit which used to happen constantly and without restricting airflow or affecting performance. The new type condensing units have the fins all the way around them. The instructions are to blow out the fins every couple of weeks or so to dislodge any accumulation of debris. This cover I purchased was to keep my neighbors leaves from his tree to stop falling inside my unit. It's working!!!!

I am very happy with the cover for my outside unit. It has really been a big help! I have two large trees and it has kept the leaves from falling into the unit. This one is much easier to use and if I need to turn on the air, I don’t need to remove the cover. Great value and can be left on year round!!
