I live in an environment that's very muggy/humid in the summer, yet chilly in the winter... So anytime in the summer that my window unit isn't running, it feels humid in that room because of the paper thin window unit seals, and in the summer, I have to fully remove the window unit because it essentially makes my room feel like the artic tundra. This item has already made such a difference in the ONE WEEK that I've had it installed. The insulation panels are thick and secure, easy to cut, and block out all humidity from outside... So I anticipate that having this installed will also save me some money on my power bill now that A/C & heat can't seep through the window unit cracks and thin lining. Love this. Blocks out ALL light, air and bugs from outside. Easy to install, easy to cut. Retains cool air inside and hot air outside. Thickness was more than i though it would be and that's a plus. Adheres very well. Cut to size make it versatile. Worth the purchase.

I needed something to keep the cold area out of my bedroom so I purchased this insulation kit. Overall it was easy to install and did exactly what it promised. Here are the pros and cons. Pros: 1. Very easy to cut and install. The foam insulation fit very snug in place. Tip: cut slightly bigger than what you measured. 2. The top strip fit just perfect I did not have to cut it to custom fit. 3. The temperature in my room went from 63 degree F to 68 F after installing this kit. The temp outside was 41 F and the thermostat on my house was set to 69 F. 4. It did the job and looks good in the window. I was worried it would look tacky but it doesn’t. Cons: 1. Poor instructions. It doesn’t make clear where the tape side of the insulation is supposed to do. Meaning do you stick it to the unit or the wall. When I first applied the left side I stuck the adhesive side to the unit. When I did the right side I found that applying it to the wall/window was a better. Also for the top piece it wasn’t clear if the 3M side of tape was meant to go on the window or attached to the side pieces. (The top piece has 2 pieces of adhesive. I applied the 3M side to the window. 2. The tape is not very strong but I’m confident it will won’t come apart. For the price it should come with extra double sided adhesive. 3.The foam insulation comes pre cut. One for each side of the unit . my unit is not perfectly center and so I had to cut the width in order to fit on the right side. But the width was slightly too small for the left side I needed more width on the left side. It would be better if they gave you one large foam piece and let you cut the two pieces to the sizes you need. However with the extra that I had left over I was able to cut a piece to go under the bottom part of my unit. There was a draft coming from that area but I was able to seal that off. None of the cons are deal breaker and overall I think it’s a little pricey but I got my monies worth!

It looks great and installation is simple, zero complaints. I would recommend buying this kit over the other various pieces of insulating AC foam on Amazon. My one concern is I'm not sure if it's reusable or will need to be purchased again for next summer since I don't leave my ACs in year-round. Honestly, I would even consider purchasing it again if I needed to. It's a good product!

I was skeptical of this item at first. I just put in my a/c for a hot n humid stretch and every year I loathe looking at the towels I have to place to keep it insulated, without letting out the cold air. I was looking for something that kept the cold in, the heat out, while making my a/c look better than something out of a dorm room. This product solves all those problems, keeping in all the cold air while looking 100x better. If you're tired of looking at the half-assed insulation/towels set up, this product is for you! Is it perfect? No, as you can see the cracks between the different pieces of insulation. Make sure it's straight, where you want it, and without air bubbles before firming applying pressure to the adhesive strip. Strips have a good amount of adhesive; I see this product lasting multiple years.

The accordion things that come with window air conditioners? Throw them out! This stuff works ten fold better. But only if you measure and cut correctly. The kit is completely custom, so you have to measure and cut the pieces to fit your particular install. Follow the instructions and find the instructional YouTube videos to help. Not sure what the best cutting method is, even with very sharp knives I had trouble. But that's okay because it means the material is dense and will hold in the cool air well, which it does.

Installing this stuff to exactly fit around my window a.c. was hard work. Measurements must be exact…do not try to eyeball it, as the instructions suggest you might in some spots. It MUST be cut with a utility knife and, ideally, an T-square, and even then, the edges are a bit ragged. Once I had the side panels cut to the correct size, I had trouble getting the outside edges (the edges against the window trim) to stay put. I had to line the trim with double-sided tape and push and poke the panels until the tape found something to grab. I was about 85% satisfied with the appearance of the installation once I was through. Far better than the flimsy accordion panels that came with the air conditioner. The next day, I realized the *back* of the accordion panels are exposed on the outside. I can’t imagine they’ll hold up through a Midwestern winter. I had enough foam panel left from the kit, so once again, I measured and cut and wrestled with the panels to cover the outside of the accordion panels. I cut the pieces a tad wider than necessary and one edge fit into the channel for the screen (which can’t be lowered from the top window pane, obviously), so there’s a good chance everything will stay in place until next spring. Next year, I’ll save myself a lot of hassle and money and buy foam board and more double-sided tape. I do not plan to buy this kit again.
