Top Amazon Reviews

  • fast shipping, bad quality from celestron
The mount and tripod look nice. Very heavy and stable, it shipped from Florida to nevada in 4 days from when I bought it which is impressive, I read many reviews on the celestron cgem and skywatcher eq6 and went with the celestron because it was in stock but really wanted the skywatcher, the celestron cgem RA and DEC axis were both so sticky that I couldn't balance it, even when moving the counterweight and ota multiple inche, which was in the reviews I've read that it was hit or miss on the mount. Was going to return it to celestron, not the company I bought it from but was on hold with them for 4 hours and gave up. I didn't want to send it off for a hypertune at $400+shipping + extras , being mechanically inclined i took it apart and figured ot the multiple problems that were causing the issues. Everything was either way to tight or way over greased. The spanner nut on the dec axis was tightened so tight at the factory that it ripped the two holes for the spanner wrench. A day of my time and a ton of cleaning sanding and polishing and it works allot better now, I understand this is a entry-level mount but for 1800 bucks it should work out of the box. This company here that I ordered from I had no issues with and they shipped fast. Celestron should have some better quality control. And if I ever get the motivation to sit on hold with them again I'm gonna see what they have to say Update 9/11/22 Reached out to Celestron again and again with only one return email asking me to provide proof of purchase, I sent that with my address and phone number. Still haven't got a response. I'm done with this mount and ordered a Ioptron cem70 . So much for customer service being "great" from Celestron. I will never buy another Celestron product. I wouldn't even feel right selling it as used because its such a piece of junk ... show more
