I chose this particular door because of the flexibility of being to able set it for in-only, out-only, etc. HOWEVER, the tabs that change those settings can easily be moved by the cat as s/he comes through the door, so the door randomly locks cats either in or out! You have to watch it like a hawk to prevent what could (in the case of locking a cat out anyway) be a dangerous situation. (Not to mention that this unreliability may interfere with the cat learning to use the door.) Luckily, it's easy to just remove the tabs, so that the door can't be latched at all. (But if I'd known that's what we'd have to do, I would have bought a door with a slide-in panel for when I wanted to close it. Now I have a door with no way to close it... but after doing the work of installing it, it's not worth buying a different one and redoing all of that work. So we'll just have to improvise a way to close the door when we need to. Sigh.) Also the weatherstripping at the bottom of the door causes it to bind & not close completely part of the time. This will probably solve itself with time and wear -- or breaking down and also removing the weatherstripping -- but in the meantime it partially defeats the purpose of having a cat door. All in all, it's not a complete disaster, since the parts causing the problems CAN be removed, but if I'd known about these things I'd have definitely bought a different door!

Great cat door, is easy to install, however, the cat door stays open when my cat goes through, which defeats the purpose of a door.

I always accidentally lock my cats in the basement, so I bought this door for them. You can adjust the flap door to be one way, both way or close. My cats love it, and I don’t need worry about lock them in the basement anymore.

Pet door was definitely needed, as kitten grew to 18 pounds, couldn't fit thru old door. I only rated ease of installation at 4, because I had to completely remove the "catio", outside space for them, to remove window to get at the board the old door was mounted on. The new door was designed to fit thru a regular door, not a 1' thick board, so had to cut away part of the new door's internal section. In the end, GREAT product!
