A similar product was suggested as a means to keep our dogs out of the bathroom (cat litter box, cat crates -my cats like to sleep in their crates, cat food, & general cat safe space) ordered these as I did t want them spend a lot if they didn't suit our needs. Purchased this one because it has a wider opening option than the others I have tried. We adopted a 20 pound cat and he wasn’t going through the smaller openings. Even on the widest opening for this latch my Pit Bull cannot fit his whole head through. They feel well made and like they will last a long time. These latches are much more flexible than other brands which makes them so much easier to put on your door handle as well as opening the door once installed! So easy for everyone in the house to use, even the kids. I was hoping to keep our older cat out of our room while still allowing our kitten in the room. The older cat can still squeeze through and now I just created another place for her to hid and wait out her attack, she is a bully cat. We had an issue with one of our cats locking herself in a bedroom. we would keep it propped open with a small box, but she pushed it out of the way a time or two. These are perfect for the rooms she's allowed in but we don't access frequently so it helped with heating and cooling to have them doors mostly closed. ... show more

    • It let's the cats come and go
I always had to either use a child gate or a towel wrapped around door to let the cats come and go. This is much cuter, less noisy then the gate, and seems to be keeping the dog out (although he hasn't tried to hard to push his way in). Not sure how long this little latch will work if it is pushed to hard. For my door know it was a struggle to get the end on it, so thankfully don't have to remove it to fully close the door cause I don't want to struggle with taking this back off! ... show more

I bought this to try to keep my dog out of the cats' food and litter. This is a decent product and does exactly what it says. It's simple to use and didn't interfere with us opening and closing the door when needed (food and litter box are in the bathroom.) Unfortunately, my dog took just a little over a week to figure out how to open it. Keep in mind, though, that this dog also figured out how to open the metal walkthrough gate we were previously using, very quickly and quietly, so we wouldn't know she was doing it. If you don't have a too smart for it's own good, cat burglar of a dog, this will probably work for you. I guess I'm going to shop for a cat door and hope mine doesn't figure out how to use doorknobs next. ... show more
