I needed a new set of knives, and my brother has some pans by Carote and loves them, so I thought I would try these knives. The knives themselves are sharp and look great as my kitchen has an off white theme. My disappointment is in the block - it doesn't appear that it was sanded very well in a few spots and the finish is very rough. From a distance it looks ok, but it bothers me a bit - especially for a set at this price. I've seen cheaper sets have better finished blocks. Since I bought it for the knives and they are working very well for me - I am giving this 4 stars (I considered 3), but maybe some weekend I will take the block to the garage and clean it up a bit more. Hopefully you get a better block than I did.

There is absolutely NOTHING about this knife set that I don't LOVE. They are beautiful. That's a good place to start. They are so graceful and attractive that they are a pleasure to leave on the counter. The natural wood block and creamy color look beautiful in any decor. Of course, none of this matters at all if the knives are not useful and effective and easy to use. These knives are incredibly sharp, and should be used with caution. I have not cut myself with them, but I am absolutely certain they would cut me easily if I was not careful. They have sliced through every single thing I have tried to use them on with ease. Watermelons, tomatoes, fresh loaves of bread, pineapple, you name it. The variety of instruments makes it easy to choose the proper tool for your task at hand. I have been using them every day for a few weeks now, and I would not give them up for anything. The ceramic coating makes them so easy to clean. I just wipe them off with a paper towel. They are a complete joy to use. I would recommend them to anyone. Five stars.

This knife set really stands out from the competition. I love the white which stands out in my kitchen. The blades themselves are well-made and sharp straight out the box. The included sharpener on the block will make touchups easy. All of the knives have worked perfectly and are really good Universal set for all your kitchen needs. This knife and block is a great value and will really step up your kitchen game.

The knives are very sharp, perfect for slicing and dicing, and the included block features a built-in sharpener for easy maintenance. Lightweight and comfortable to handle, the set offers excellent value with a variety of knives for different tasks. However, the knives require extra care as they do not appear to be dishwasher safe. This Carote knife set is intended to replace an old Farberware knife set I was gifted that also came with a wood block and a similar number of knives. However, none of the knives in my Farberware set are serrated, and it didn't come with kitchen shears or a built-in sharpener. While the stainless steel blades of my Farberware set seem to be of higher quality, I think the overall quality of this Carote set bests it. The product description here claims that this knife set provides "razor-sharp" blades out-of-the-box, but in my case this isn't accurate: none of the five non-serrated blades were very sharp, so I needed to sharpen each of these. The good news is that the built-in sharpener fixed this issue in only a couple minutes. Another reviewer here quipped that "white seems like a bad idea, especially for getting dirty, and staining over time", but I completely disagree. I don't see these knives getting permanently dirty in any way, and one of the reasons for the ceramic coated blades is to prevent this from happening. My kitchen is white, and my cabinets match the color of the wood block, so I like the matching color scheme.
