Got them to jack my vehicle up but then when it was time to lower it back down they would not release. I checked the instructions but I was doing it right. They just would not release with the weight of the vehicle on them. I ended up having to put a floor jack under the vehicle so I could raise the vehicle off them. Once I pulled them out I was able to release them. No good though if they won’t release while the vehicle is still on them.

These wheel dollies feel heavy-duty right out of the box. The reinforced steel construction gives them a solid, industrial feel, and they’re rated to handle serious weight. Once positioned correctly, they support the vehicle securely and make moving it around much easier. The 360° casters roll smoothly, even in tighter garage spaces. I especially like the foot-operated lifting pedal—it’s convenient not needing a separate jack, and the ratcheting system doesn’t take as much effort as older crank-style models. The safety lock adds peace of mind while the car is lifted. They come pre-assembled, which is a plus, and the carry handle makes them easier to move around than expected. That said, at around 32 lbs each, they’re still fairly heavy, so portability is relative. Also, you’ll want a smooth, clean surface for best rolling performance. Overall, they’re sturdy, well-built dollies suited for garage use and vehicle repositioning.

I've wanted a set of these dollys to lift our single-axle boat trailer and be able to move it laterally inside our garage. Currently, we have to back the trailer in at an angle to get it off to the side. Tire dollys would make it so much easier and faster to just back the trailer straight in with the truck (no tedious maneuvering), unhook it, then use the dollys to lift the tires up and roll the trailer off to the side. I ordered this single dolly knowing we'll have to buy another - but this gave us the chance to test it out. The construction appears to be good. It's all steel construction, and has some heft to it. Luckily there is a handle welded to the side of the dolly that makes carrying much easier. The finish is red powdercoat, so it should hold up to abuse. The instructions are a double-sided sheet of paper that includes care and cleaning instructions, lots of warnings (like everything these days), a parts list, and 3-step use instructions. It is easy to use: Slide the dolly arms around the tire, flip a lever to lock the pawl, and press the foot pedal to ratchet the arms together and lift the tire off the ground. The pedal can be locked down with a hook to prevent accidentally hitting the pedal or disengaging the ratchet. We tested it out on one tire on our full-sized car, and it worked as expected. It only took three or four pumps of the pedal to get the tire 1/2" off the driveway. Be aware that the wheels need a VERY smooth, clean surface to roll. Any substantial cracks, dirt, pebbles, or debris will prevent the wheels from rolling effectively. Be sure to clean your garage floor before attempting to move a vehicle on the dollys. There is only one negative: Pay attention to the pedal lock hook. If it's left dangling down when jacking up the vehicle, it will interfere with the caster wheel rotation. You need to flip the hook up onto the dolly to prevent this from happening (see photo). The notches in the solid bar where the pawl engages are crisp and sharp - which is needed to ensure solid connection without skipping or jumping. Hopefully they don't wear quickly, rendering the dolly ineffective. To that end, you really need to keep the ratchet and pawls clean of dirt and debris! Any build-up of junk can cause the pawls to skip, and will cause wear on the notches. The dolly was well packaged in a box with styrofoam beadboard pieces to prevent movement during shipping. But there were little styrofoam beads stuck to the greased ratchet bar, which interfered with the pawls. I wiped off the beads, dirt, and most of the grease, and sprayed a coat of dry silicone lube on the ratchet to keep it from sticking. Overall, I'm pleased with the performance of this dolly. I will certainly be ordering another before boating season starts! The instructions contained some fine print that mentioned Harbor Freight - my local store does not carry this Garvee brand wheel dolly, and the Amazon price for this 1500lb capacity dolly from Garvee is equal to the HF price for a lighter (1300lb) capacity dolly. PROS: - Strong steel construction - Durable powder-coated finish - Solid dolly wheels - Welded handle for carrying CONS: - Pedal hook can get in the way of the caster if left dangling - Be aware that floor surface must be smooth and clean for easy rolling - Takes up a bit of room to store them when not being used
