Description

The Capri Tools Professional 1/4 in. Letter and Number Stamp Set is made from premium components. We use premium Chrome Vanadium steel that's been differential heat treated to achieve optimal performance and durability: 62 HRC hard stamping end produces high quality imprints and keeps the edges sharp, and 42 HRC tough hammering end excels at absorbing repeated hammer strikes and maintaining durability. Large, true-to-size, and expertly machine letters/numbers ensure the imprints are precise and refined on leather, wood, copper, brass, aluminum and mild steel. Each stamp has engraved sizing and identification on the front side, making is easy to fine the right stamp and the right orientation. Includes 36 stamps: letters A-Z in uppercase, the ampersand &, and numbers 0-9. Comes in heavy-duty storage cases.

I am a machinist and I have been looking for a good stamp set for aluminum and steel. This set is awesome. It is very well made. The letters are properly aligned to the punch body unlike some sets. The punches are straight and close tolerance on shank size. The stamping is very crisp. These are a great bargain especially compared to some more expensive US brands such as Hansen. The Hansen characters are poorly aligned and there is variation in shank dimensions. This product is far superior at less than half the price. These letter stamps worked well on 12L14 steel. This is a mild steel but steel no the less. The impressions left on the steel were clear and sharp, and not much metal moved to the sides. The only reasons for the 4 stars instead of 5 is the numbers are slightly larger than 1/8". I was uncertain as to weather I should get the 1/8" or 3/16", I am glad that I chose the smaller of the two. Good product, obvious quality. ... show more

    • Good quality stamps that perfectly fit an HPC SA-7 Stamp Alignment tool

I bought these to stamp codes onto brass keys and they work great. The stamps are well made, came with a light coating of oil to prevent rust, and are squarely cut. They fit my HPC SA-7 alignment tool perfectly -- something that I was really hoping for. I used a light tap with a 3 lb hammer to do test stamping and each letter was clear and perfectly formed. I wasn't sure how these would pan out, but figured I'd try them before spending $60-$80 on a set of HPC or Young Bros. stamps. I'm glad I did; I have no need to purchase a more expensive set as these fit my needs. ... show more

    • Solid feel and easy to use, gets results

I like how crisp and solid these are. Reminds me of old ones you see in museums, not that sort of bubbled cheap steel in some sets I've seen. I practiced on some scrap wood first and the key is to use a small hammer and hit two or three times lightly. I tested carpenter's hammer, hard to control. A few taps with one of those hammers meant for hanging pictures was best. You need to hit it enough to make the impression but not enough to ram the whole thing into the material, which makes a circle around it. I'm using them to make simulated antique telephone parts as replacements for ones that are too far gone. They're just right for making terminal codes in the wood and then filling them with white shoe polish wax to look just like the originals. But I can think of lots of things I might try with these now. Also to share, I have no past experience with these yet I figured it out quickly on one piece of scrap wood. ... show more

I use these on copper tags and they are easy to use. The set that I bought previously didn't have a mark of the top of the letter, this one does. So you don't have to attach stickers or waste time figuring out the top. They are also good size for your tagging, easily readable. Make a good sharp imprint. ... show more
