  • Great muti-function home printer!
Style: 1.44" OLED Display
Setup was fast and easy. I’m most impressed with the scanning. The first thing you notice is how quiet it is. I had to check if it was actually scanning. Secondly, is the quality of the scans at 600 dpi. Plus, it pre-crops the image for you! Printing of documents is slow, but the quality is good enough for home use. The automatic duplexing makes up for the printing speed. It easily connected to our phones and tablets. My wife loves the wireless printing. ... show more

  • Great value for low workloads.
Style: 1.44" OLED Display
Edit: Still going strong. No issues. I have no idea what the negative reviewers are experiencing, but it almost is assuredly user error of some sort with network, gear, or user control. This thing prints from Wi-Fi flawlessly in a basement setting from 6 feet away in my case, and it prints fairly fast without issue. Inkjets are expensive if you use a lot of ink. This is not a laser printer, and you should not expect to be doing loads of printing for anything on it. For printing photos, it actually has very decent quality, yet this one will use ink at a fast rate like most inkjets. I use this for shipping labels and occasional documents. Almost no photo printing at all. For those who print only sporadically, it's a perfect option. Compared to my last Canon, this one is more compact, easy to setup, Wi-Fi works flawlessly, and setup was basically one and done. I don't understand the issues people are having, but it most likely comes down to your network and lack of expertise. I manually posted my password on first boot, and even though I mostly have Wi-Fi disabled, when I turn it on with the printer, it works and prints without issue; no need to input password again or waste time finding a device. I never had even the slightest issue after password input. It's definitely not super high quality, but it also doesn't have a bunch of stuff I don't need. I like the lack of glossy plastic as well. This thing will fit almost anywhere, and for what it is looks nice and blends in well. We'll see how long the power supply lasts. Scanning works well, though, you will notice it is a little louder than some models. Printing has so far gone as well as before with a more expensive inkjet that died, and this doesn't seem to use ridiculous amounts of ink when on the lowest ink usage settings. Still, the unit will definitely cost you if you print a lot. I always recommend a laser printer for people printing over 20 documents a month. No exceptions. Otherwise, you will be paying out the wazoo for ink on this thing, despite only having two cartridges. Overall, Canon has done about all they can do for a compact inkjet. There isn't much else to do for printers. You won't be getting any major improvements over the years. This is about as small and efficient as it's going to get, and even at that I barely notice the differences from ten years ago. Software is minimal and not invasive if all you want is drivers. I put the services in Win 10 on manual, and there isn't anything else going on outside a scanner tool for my setup. With my needs this is a nice model so far. I hope it lasts. ... show more

  • Most infuriating printer I've ever used
Style: 1.44" OLED Display
For a wireless printer I thought it would be something similar to Bluetooth... Not quite. First, there was no instruction manual in the box, just a single paper with a website instructing registration. (We do not live with a wifi connection so we had to walk this heavy machine up to a friend's house for it's set up and trial prints.) So ok maybe the sit will have sine silly tutorials, an entire FAQ page, some other stuff. Nope. The online manual is a gallery of pictographs, indicating that an app is required for the registration and use of the printer. Ok. Maybe the app will have everything. The app was frustrating to set up it's wireless connection (not really needing wifi at all), and then when finally synced, it's useless for printing anything other than pictures from my phone's gallery. What I mean is, through the Canon PRINT app, you can't access anything else. Which, after getting that far, the damn print quality is too grainy for pictures! Upon finally getting access through the PRINT app yo my documents, it Still won't print. Any time we tried to access documents on my word appto print, the apps on my phone started to act weird, saying that the open document, that I was clearly looking at and trying to print from, was unavailable. My husband was finally able to print from his phone, without the app, straight from other apps or files, directly from our email and even some music chords directly from a website! Yes that's great, if that what I needed the printer for. When synced back up to my phone, the printer refused to access my apps or files, again saying they were unable to open them. Wtf did the PRINT app do to my other apps? Once we were back home, I tried the scanner - the least frustrating thing about the whole day - printer is fine for text, not crisp but not as grainy as images. Struggles with copying stamps.) I am still having difficulty getting my documents from Microsoft Word to print, even when directly saved onto my phone's storage rather than the cloud. It vehemently refuses to connect to my computer without a 4-8 digit pin. Which I don't have. Oh, and the paper tray locks half sticking out, in print mode, only occasionally allowing to be pushed fully back under the body - I still don't know how it went back in the first time and cannot get it to repeat the closure. Afraid to break the damn thing I left it out when I put it away for the day, wholly frustrated with the entire experience. Today when trying again there is a repeated 1001 and 1003 error about the paper tray. I've taken it out, fixed the paper, put it back in about a dozen times. It's fine. Still won't print. Now it won't print anything. The ONLY nice thing about this printer (when you scan!) is that when the paper jams, the back of the machine can be almost be fully opened so you can access the paper trapped around the rollers. I'll admit that was pretty sweet. I got this printer for work and it's by far the most infuriating printer I've ever used. If I could return it, I would, but that would cost more money than I purchased it for. ... show more

  • Practical and Affordable Wireless Printer
Style: 1.44" OLED Display
I bit the bullet and decided to buy this because I needed something simple to print and scan with for home use. This is my first wireless printer, and wow, I can see why people make the switch. It is admittedly janky getting the app to run the first time and awkward to connect the printer to your wi-fi, but once it's all set up, it's almost seamless to use with your smart devices and computers. The box even comes with a bonus packet of photo paper you can use to print photos, though I haven't used them. I have printed shipping labels, and the paper sizer is easy to figure out, at least. Took off a star because this printer honestly isn't just cheap; it feels cheap. Like, I swear the printer was falling apart on me when setting it up, but I think it's just that it has cheap construction, too, like loose hinges, lightweight plastic, and so on and so forth. It also printers kind of slow, maybe because I'm a little spoiled with laser inkjets, but hey, it gets the job done. Scanning works alright. I've used it a few times to scan receipts and it does a serviceable job. Sometimes the app doesn't work when you want to scan multiple pages for some reason, though I'm not sure if that's an issue with the printer or the app. ... show more

  • Very reasonalbe price and works great!
Style: 1.44" OLED Display
This Canon printer replaced our tired 14-year-old HP Envy. The first thing I noticed was that the plastic on the new Canon is much thinner and more delicate than on the old HP Envy. The paper trays are very delicate and could easily be broken if care is not taken. This may be a common issue with all newer printers. Functionally, the text printouts are excellent with the Canon Pixma TS6420a. We do not print photos, so I cannot speak to that. I have the settings on "draft" and "quiet mode". The text is still dark enough for most of our printing needs and the ink cartridges will last longer. The printer is very quiet and reasonably fast. I researched several inkjet printers before selecting this one. The ink cartridges on many are very expensive with no availability of remanufactured cartridges. In some cases, the ink cartridges can cost more that the printer itself. This Canon Pixma TS6420a uses only two cartridges, a PG-260 black and a CL-261 color. They are readily available everywhere at reasonable prices. Another consideration was shelf space. We have a computer cabinet with a slide out printer shelf with 9" of clearance. Printers with rear paper trays would not fit. The Canon Pixma TS6420a has two paper trays. The main paper tray loads from the front, and also a rear feed paper tray for envelopes or photo paper. The Canon fits on the shelf fine and we can slide the printer out if we need to print an envelope occasionally. It does feed and print envelopes nicely. Regarding durability, time will tell. We do not print many pages a month, maybe 25 or less, so this printer should still last us several years. Oh, and one negative is the tiny display which is difficult for old eyes to see well. Once the printer is set up that is not an issue though. If our experience changes I will return and update this review, but presently we like it very much and are very happy with our choice. ... show more

  • Has everything I need - short term review
Style: 1.44" OLED Display
The good: - copying, pretty fast printing, duplex (double-sided) printing (great!), back feed paper (cardstock - see note), front feed paper (my preferred), - USB connectivity (*), wifi connectivity (haven't used yet), - some nice settings like auto-on and auto-off, "quiet mode" - I like that the display panel can be angled upward. - I like how everything can fold in to be compact. - I like the remaining ink estimator available from the menu. Things to note: - Cardstock - When you select "cardstock" in the printer options on the computer before you print a document, the printer will require you to use the back paper feeder. I don't like that, due to space limitations, so I simply tell it to use regular paper but load the front tray with ~90lb cardstock. That cardstock feels pretty thick but the printer handles it just fine from the front paper tray! - USB - cable NOT included, but it's a standard USB A to B cable I believe - looks like a D shape, pretty standard for the printers I'm used to - auto on/off - I have both enabled, auto-off set to 15min - it's fast to start up from the "off" state - Quiet mode - seems to slow it down by 30-50% perhaps, depending on duplex vs single-sided. It is a decent bit quieter but I am fine with regular mode for faster printing. - Duplex printing is cool to watch, this is the first printer I've had which does it. After it prints the page, it pulls it back in to print the other side, a bit slower than the first side. - make sure the landing tray is pulled out before printing or it could jam the printer! Some of my paper jams were a bit hard to clear but it's nothing to worry about, just gotta open it up and slowly but firmly pull out the paper. - The starter ink packs have lasted me a decent while, maybe I've printed 100 pages of mostly black/white? The gauge says about 50% black and maybe 70% color remaining. I guess they are lasting longer than I originally expected, but I went ahead and ordered another pack of ink cartridges, this time the XL versions. What I wish it would have: - direct ethernet connectivity would be nice; I try to have everything hard-wired so for now it's only set up with USB to my main computer. But for the price and the features included, I can't complain. Conclusion: I don't plan on printing a ton, but I've wanted to get a printer so I can print when I want/need to. I think this printer will be the last printer I buy for a long while. Great for the average Joe! ... show more

  • Great printer and low price
Style: 1.44" OLED Display
I bought this printer to replace a Canon printer I had previously used. It doesn’t disappoint! I like that it’s lightweight, takes up little space, very easy to set up and I appreciate the option of both rear and bottom tray paper feed. It comes with ink and prints nicely. Love that projects can be handled directly from cell phone. Great product and very reasonable price. ... show more

  • Horrible - don't waste your time
Style: 1.44" OLED Display
Usually I don't have time to write a review on a sub-par product. But this product is so bad I feel compelled to warn others. The first issue is the paper tray. The tray can only hold about 1/4in of printer paper. This means you'll be filling the tray pretty often. That may not be a big deal, but the tray design is also deeply flawed. The tray is flimsy and comes from Canon with a plastic cover portion that prevents the tray from closing flush. Closing flush is the position that the Canon setup guide shows you need to be in when you are printing. Teh plastic cover portion is also supposed to be afixed per the illustrations on the paper tray itself. The plastic cover portion needs to be removed to feed paper, which conflicts with the Canon guide photos and instructions. I never got paper to feed with the guide in place so I set it aside. I do not know how long an un-attached, plastic guide piece would have lasted in even a home office environment. Secondly, this printer jammed three times just trying to print its first test page. One of the jams involved the printer sucking up all of the 1/4in of printer paper the small tray would hold. I cleared three, separate jams, looked at the test page and then moved-on to the wireless connection which other reviewers here have described as "a snap", "easy" or "simple". After an hour of trying to get the printer to connect to my wireless network, I just decided to retun the thing. I tried teh wireless setup several times using Canon's setup software. I tried from the printer side entering the WiFi password via the printer's (very hard to read) 1in LCD screen. It got down to going through my old wire collection and looking for a USB wire that is not included by Canon. I finally gave up and decided to return. In review: the design is bad, the guide is contradictory and unhelpful, the plain old functioning is bad, and (despite giving it an hour of the college try) I never got the printer to connect to the wireless network. Look elsewhere. ... show more
