I had a decades old Epson printer that was just dying and so I was looking for a replacement budget printer. I work from home but I just need to print like 5 pages a week BUT I do occasionally need to print, scan, and copy more. This printer was inexpensive and had good reviews so I went with it. And it does print well straight away. I have it plugged directly into my laptop and it didn't try to make me download a program to run it which is great because my work computer probably wouldn't have allowed it and we don't have an IT person anymore so idk who would have helped me... Fortunately, I can print while connected to the computer. I did manage to connect my phone to the printer so it'll do printing via a phone app (using Bluetooth, possibly? Haven't used it more than once but it did connect pretty easily). For some reason, I can't get it to print via WiFi. As far as I can tell, you'd need to be able to set up the WiFi connection while on a computer? (Instead of entering in the WiFi information directly into the printer, like my decades old Epson printer did). I don't have a non-work Windows computer however and had no luck getting it to connect with my Chromebook. My father tried connecting wirelessly with his HP laptop and I believe was eventually able to get it to work. So perhaps eventually I'll figure it out too. Just wanted to mention it because WiFi set up may be difficult because you apparently don't work solely with the printer to get it connected to WiFi and it requires a computer from what I understand. Maybe I'm just bad with directions? Also: THE INK IS EXPENSIVE. As usual, the cheaper the printer, the more expensive the ink. I paid $25+ for the cheapest replacement Black ink I could find. Which is kind of crazy since $25 would get me multiple replacement cartridges for every single color on my old printer combined. Just something to be aware of if you do a lot of printing and go through a lot of ink. ... show more

I needed a very basic printer for our home office bc we don't need to use it regularly. I wanted something inexpensive and this was a great price. Dont worry when it arrives and you see no instructions; you only need the web page that guides you step by step ... I just plugged it in, put the ink in (comes with black and color), turned it on, then went to the website as instructed. The setup was really so easy and simple, it goes step by step along with you and connects wireless fast. It was ready to go & printing in under 5 minutes wiyhout needing computer knowledge - way easier than I anticipated. Only Cons: - It has a brief delay btwn actual print start and the time you actually clicked on print, but for me it's for home office usage so not a big deal. If you're high tech or need speed, this is not going to make you happy lol - I discovered that if you want to print double-sided however, it is a pain bc first it prints the one side for each page, then prompts & instructs you to manually flip the pages and re-insert into the feeder again yourself, FYI Isn't a dealbreaker for me. It is quite literally a very basic bare-bones printer, Fax, scanner. Easy to use, self-explanatory buttons vs a screen digitally, easier for my mom in her late 70s to operate vs our old brother model that constantly gave us issues. Before anything else, do NOT purchase this under any circumstances. Writing out the documents you need with a pen on blank paper will legitimately be more effective than this disgraceful device as it ceases working after a few print jobs! Now, as for my experience with this, to say that it was a frustrating affair would be a gross understatement but in the interest of maintaining some semblance of civility I shall refrain from going further. I initially purchased this for the purpose of printing time-sensitive documents that I required for a personal matter and was under the impression that it would simply perform its primary function of printing, scanning, and reproducing documents without any problems. One would think that this is the minimum expectation you could have from something like this. The printer arrives and the setup process is easy enough. Soon after connecting to my devices, I am now able to print a small number of documents that I require, about ten pages. I then retire for the evening and the following morning set out to continue printing the rest. Well, here begins the ripening of the fruit of misfortune. I go to print a page, it begins feeding the paper from the tray, then jams! I think to myself, "This must be a small malfunction that I can easily correct with simply readjusting the paper and evaluating the state of the machine with their troubleshooting software". I could not be more mistaken. What follows is five long days of attempting to repair this abominable rubbish to a serviceable state but I could not print more than a slightly misaligned page before it once again refused to cooperate. At this point I had had enough. Luckily, the wonderful folk at Amazon were able to assist me in accepting this return. I pray it was thrown into a landfill where it belongs! Canon should be ashamed of themselves for producing a machine that is incapable of performing even the most basic tasks. This is far below the standard I hold them to and they should actually TEST these printers to determine whether or not they actually work! ... show more
