  • Good versatile all-in-one printer, ink cartridges are not widely available.
Style: Printer Color: Black
I selected this model after my 12-year-old Canon MX-432 printer would not print anymore and I needed to finish a project. So I found one that Amazon could get to me the next day, which they did. While there is no printed one in the box, I downloaded a 445 page manual from the Canon website which is extremely detailed. Set up was straight forward and uneventful, partially because I have used Canon printers for over 20 years. Connection to my wi-fi network was easy as I had the ID and password handy. I hoped that the document print quality was better than my old printer and it certainly was. I used the rear tray to print checks and envelopes after spending a little time trying to figure that out. The printer would not automatically select the rear tray even though I had paper loaded there. I had to go in to the application and select it instead. The cartridges print about the same number of pages that my old printer did. I was really impressed with the quality of the document and photo scans I made. The pdf and jpg files are still large, but so were the ones on the MX-432. I have not printed any photos yet. The unit does take a little time to initialize after you power it up and if left unused for a time, it goes to sleep and eventually powers off completely. The PG-260/PG-261 ink cartridges are relatively expensive, but so are most Canon ink products. Potential buyers of this printer should know that as of this writing, the cartridges are not widely available and I could only find one remanufactured replacement for the PG-260/PG-261. There are some major sites that do not stock these cartridges, like Staples. This printer model is still considered "new", so hopefully that will change. Amazon currently has the lowest prices for these cartridges. ... show more

  • Great Entry-Level Printer
Style: Printer Color: Black
This is a good, economical, inkjet printer for home or office. I have been using it for a week or so and it has performed well. It is a compact printer that takes up a small footprint, making it a good printer to have on my home office credenza. This multi-function device has the capabilities that I really need. Aside from its printing and copying functions, it has scanning capabilities too. Couple this with the automatic document feeder and duplex capabilities, and it is the total package for a small initial investment. Of course, the printer cost itself is only one part of the total cost of operation. The replacement ink cartridges are pricey, so they need to be considered when looking at total cost. Since I cannot find anywhere what the ink consumption is, and I have not printed enough to exhaust the ink, I will need to wait to see how fast the ink runs out. Inexpensive knock-off ink refills are readily available for this printer model. The setup is fairly straight forward. Place the printer, plug it in, and follow the menu instructions. This printer only has two print cartridges, one black and one color. Normally, color printers have four cartridges, so with only two, setup is easier and there are less supplies to worry about needing to have on hand. All settings are made through the printer’s control panel, or in the case of printing, through your PC’s printing options. Although small, the screen is clear and easy to read. Moving through the menu is accomplished with the buttons adjacent to the screen. This printer has one paper feed cassette in the front, a paper feed tray in back, and a 35-sheet automatic document feeder on top. Both paper trays are adjustable for various size sheets up to 8.5x14”. Both the front and rear paper trays have a 100 sheet capacity, and both can be loaded at the same time. This is handy for me because I can load the rear tray with label paper, and print labels on demand without changing out the paper. The printer has the capability of printing from mobile devices, but I have not used that feature yet. The quality of the output is excellent. The printed words and images are crisp and have good color. The output speed is acceptable for a home printer, but not quick. I have used the duplex (2-sided) function when printing, and it works fine. The document feeder works well for both copying and scanning. One feature that is lacking, and that really should be included, is the capability to scan to a memory stick. All scans are saved in a computer folder. ... show more

  • DON'T BUY THIS
Style: Printer Color: Black
I have to say I have purchased my last Canon product. I bought this to replace a Canon printer that had mysteriously stopped printing. The test/alignment process printed, but when I tried to print documents it just spit out blanks. It turns out upon further research this is a common problem. STUPIDLY I replaced the non-performing Canon printer with another Canon printer. It holds just a few sheets of paper and constantly tells me to add paper (even though I added paper). So THIS NEW PRINTER is useless. I am going out right now to buy an HP. If I could give negative stars I would. ... show more

  • A nice printer for the price
Style: Printer Color: Black
I don't know what these other reviews are saying but it was easy to set up. Just went online googled the manual and with the manual was a step by step set up guide with pictures of exactly what you need to do. The print quality is okay, what you'd expect from a printer under $150. I haven't had any connection issues so far and it's been 6 weeks. I've even used the scanner which worked beautifully as well as the copy function and had no problems there either. ... show more

  • Worst install process ever
Style: Printer + Black XL Ink Color: White
The setup process for this is terrible. The download they send you to doesn't work, says you need to be an admin. I was an admin, and ran as admin. Ended up having to download the utilities from the site after some google searching. The network tool then didn't want to setup the printer until I turned off the 5ghz wireless. Then the drivers wouldn't install. Still can't find the password for the printer as its not documented and didn't ask. Seriously go another brand, one of the worst install processes I've seen. Did eventually get it to work, 2.5 hours later. ... show more
