Happy with this printer. Very easy set up, connected without a problem and prints great!! I've had it for a few months now and have printed several things and it prints great each time. Ink also seems to last pretty long. I'm still using the sample ink cartriges that comes with it and like I said, i've printed quite a few things from it. It prints very quietly and looks nice. It does take a bit to print but I dont think any longer than my old HP printer. The best part about it, is unlike HP, you're not required to purchase a membership just to be able to print your own stuff. Never understood why HP makes you have to do that, as if the printer, ink and paper isn't expensive enough, you also have to pay a monthly service just to print your own stuff. I was able to connect the printer to all the computers, laptops and smart phones in the house and can print so easily from all the devices. HIGH RECOMMEND!!! ... show more

Purchased this unit ten months ago, have used two sets of ink since then. Unit works as it should, quality is excellent and the unit is pretty quiet while it is printing. Photo prints are not as good as our last Canon printer, but we order printed pictures from the web now for the best quality. I and my wife work from home and being a gen x'ers we like to print out things sometimes for record keeping. This unit has done all we ask for in a home printer/scanner. ... show more

I ordered this printer from Amazon and the one they sent me didn’t feed paper properly. I called Canon and they FedExed me a replacement that had a similar problem. After they overnighted me a third machine, it worked perfectly and I love it. I can’t say enough good things about it. I print quantities of double sided pages in color and in grayscale. Pictures come out beautiful even on low quality and on plain copy paper. I just love it. I’m about to order another of the same model for my parents. It was so worth the initial hassle. ... show more

It works fine when it is recognized, but that in there lies the problem. Nearly every time I want to use it with my computer, it says it is offline. I can print from my phone just fine because it is obviously not offline, and I can use the scan function just fine, but printing, nope. At first I tried restarting my computer, which worked but is obnoxious when you are in the midst of work and have a bunch of things open, but then I realized that I can go to the printer settings, and print a test page. That kicks off the original item to be printed and also prints a test page. This is both a waste of time and money (ink and paper). The first time I printed an image, it was muted to all heck. I was like no way this is the way. So I Googled the issue. Now I can't remember how I fixed it, and I am sure I will have to Google it again the next time I want to print an image and actually see the colors. When it does print without issue, the quality is good. It is loud, which I didn't think would bug me because I don't print that often, but it is kind of annoying. Nothing I can't manage though. The scan function takes awhile, but so did my old printer, and this one has a document feeder that my old one did not, and that has been WONDERFUL. The paper tray doesn't pop out automatically, a feature my old printer had, and I miss that because where I have the printer, I don't like to keep the tray out because I fear it will get broken by my wonderful daughter who pays no attention to her surroundings. The software doesn't have Canon in the name, which makes it hard to find if you don't remember that it is IJ blah blah blah. It also looks like it is straight out of the 90s, and just has mediocre functionality. You do need an app to print from your phone. There is a Canon app, but I think the Mopria Print app is the one you want (Android). Basically do not get this printer if you don't have some level of technical acumen or if you don't have admin rights to your computer, and be prepared for having to do some research when things don't go as expected. DISCLAIMER: If you are buying this to use with a work computer to which you do not have administrative rights to create new users, DO NOT get it. This printer requires not just an admin user to install the software but a LOCAL admin user. So calling IT won't get the job done unless they believe you that it needs a local admin user and are willing to create one. ... show more

    • Arrived today. And I like it.

It practically set itself up after downloading the app. The app gives you the option of signing up for auto delivery of ink, but I no longer print enough to need or want that. I haven't tried printing from the phone yet. I printed from both the back paper tray and the front paper tray. It's about 2 inches taller than my old HP 55 series, and extends maybe an inch farther over my printer shelf but definitely not a deal breaker. It's heavier, obviously, but it comes inside a plastic bag with handles to make it easier to get out of the box (and carry from one room to another)--so thoughtful. It printed beautifully. The only possible downside I can think of right now is that the color cartridge is a combination instead of separate cartridges for each color. At least the black is separate.
